1. More prompts~! Life spent on the road Forgotten home at his heel He drowns under Sand.
2. I don't normally use music to get IC, per se, but looking at this I was struck by the thought of Ghost Towns Along the Highway, by John Mellencamp. It's a decidedly more melancholy approach to Averill's reasons for living on the road: loUPLSqYYms EDIT - After a particularly emotionally charged scene, I've come to apply this song to some of Averill's darker moments: P8Tkqln-l4s
3. When it comes to casual conversations, I'd say Averill is fairly even with the sexes. He's had good advice from men and women of every creed and colour during his time on the road, so he's trained himself out of the expectations he had as a teenager. That said, there's still a flash or two of his old attitudes - whilst he would be equally surprised, I'd severely doubt that he would be equally concerned about, say, a male Miqo'te bursting into the Quicksand, tripping, and catapulting themselves into both his table and his face. I suppose context is everything with this one.
4. I'm looking for someone, as the title says, to start an extended story with. I figure I'd hit the ground running with Averill and get into the RP as soon as possible. If anyone's up for this, I'm online now - just drop me a line and we can get talking!
5. I. Basic Info Characters: Averill Rooks Primary character: Averill Rooks Linkshells: None yet. Primary RP linkshell: None yet. II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Medium-Heavy. I've just come to Balmung after clearing my account, and I'd like to hit the ground running. Averill's character is all set up and ready to go! Be it a casual chat in the tavern or an extended scene, I'm up for anything. Views on RP combat and injuries: So long as we talk it out beforehand, I will happily take wounds light and heavy into my character. Scars and such will be noted - though I'm sure Averill would prefer to keep life and limb. Views on IC romance: This one needs talking about beforehand, so we're all on the same page. That said, if romance blossoms in an extended scene and we're both okay with it, I've got no qualms. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): Averill probably has someone buried in his past somewhere. Let's chat about it and dig up those old bones! Views on lore: I'd like to stay lore-friendly, if possible. If I wanted generic fantasy RP, I wouldn't come to Eorzea. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): Linkshells seem to be the way to go for RP that doesn't disturb people, but I will respond to anyone who approaches Averill via /say or /tell. III. Other Info Country: UK Timezone: GMT Contact info: Contact me on here, in-game, or via Skype (just look for Chaosbahamut1 and tell me where you found my Skype name). 6. This sounds fun! Here's my three (not exactly movie-based, but that doesn't seem to be a problem). Let's start with the base - Chuck from Telltale's The Walking Dead: http://img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120916192202/thewalkingdead/es/images/0/08/Chuck_pic.jpg[/img] Averill Rooks is a Hyur on the road. How he got there is more of a choice than a consequence, but he's a vagrant. He travels, settling for a moon or two before his wanderlust snatches him from home and hearth. That said, he doesn't enjoy his vagrancy alone. Like Chuck, he enjoys company on the road, swapping stories and maybe a pint or two as the journey goes on. He loves other people, especially those with a tale to tell. Next up, lets look at the minutiae of his behaviour. His quirks, actions, manners. Here, we turn to Black Cat's Train Heartnet: http://img4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20101027000321/b__/blackcat/images/4/44/TrainGraphicManga.png[/img] On the road or at the pub, Averill is goofy to a fault. He likes to laugh, he loves to chat, he never takes anything too seriously until he absolutely has to. When something precious is on the line, be it his life or his pride, he can take it up a notch. He may not be the best at what he does, but Hells be damned if Averill doesn't step up to the challenge. Character number three is a bit trickier, so let's turn to his fears. This was a tough choice, but I settled on Gurren Lagann's Simon (pre-timeskip): http://img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20131208070802/gurennlagann/images/5/5e/Tumblr_mwhcen2XbG1skkrxzo3_500.jpg[/img] No matter how strong or storied Averill becomes, there's always something big, mean and angry ready to snatch his livelihood away. For a man who values wanderlust and companionship above all else, it can take an age for Averill to actually start talking about himself. His friends fascinate him - but it's a fascination he holds at arm's length. Adventuring is dangerous work, and it'll only take one misstep for him to lose those he truly cares for. That's that. I hope you enjoyed this sneak peek into my main character. See you all server-side!
7. I'm game! Turned it into a little snippet of Averill's time in and around Gridania (My words were Campire, Gauntlet, Water, and Spirit(s)). The soft orange flames licked Averill's gloves. He pulled back with a sigh. "What kind of archer brings mitts to a hunt?" He tore them off. His supplier had shown the utmost confidence in the product; not the slightest bit obstructive, suitable for a man of the bow. Promises that he could scoff at with a surety that rivalled the merchant. Turning his attention away from mercantile mistrust, Averill checked the meat cooking slowly over the campfire, tutting as he counted at least four rips and punctures from poor shots. Any sort of livelihood that could be eked from this kind of hunting was no livelihood at all, and he certainly wouldn't be boasting to Naoh upon his return. He kicked back, half-tempted to toss the useless armour into the blaze. Content to let his meal cook a little longer, he lay back on the lush, Shroud grass that would serve as his mattress for the night. "Should'a gone with the gauntlets," he grumbled. Heat from the campfire brought a weight to his eyes. How long had it been since he arrived? Several weeks, at the very least. For the first time in many moons, Averill found his feet pining for the hardwood floor of the Roost. Soft beds and a warm hearth might earn him some of Oschon's scorn, but he could not deny himself those pleasures. A gentle rustling nearby found the Hyur reaching lazily for his longbow. A water spirit ambled ponderously towards the fire, no doubt curious to find the presence of its rival element so close to home. Averill watched the sentient bubbles for some time, trying to picture the puzzlement on an imagined face. He sat and smiled. The Roost had its pleasures, he thought, but nothing quite beat the wilds. I hope you enjoyed! My suggestion for the list is arcane.
8. Yours sounds like a very interesting character. I'd be more than happy to get in touch and sort some form of contact out, if you're still looking for people to RP with!
9. Hey there! WanderingWordsmith here. I've just lucked out on getting into Balmung, and Averill Rooks is just getting established in Gridania. His feet are just starting to feel the roads he's longing to walk down, and he'll be damned before he starts walking alone. If you see him around, or if you want to come looking for him, don't hesitate to say hi - he's the chatty sort. He might even buy you a drink!
10. Like many others, I got lucky at 11am. I'm currently on Balmung and getting established. Thanks again!
11. Oh, brilliant! I'll give that a shot tomorrow morning, then, and that should solve the problem. Thank you very much for your help, you two! Hopefully I'll see you server-side.
12. Oh, no no no. I didn't mean you said it. I posted a few questions on Reddit and here last time, and that was the response I got. Do you mean they start allowing new players in at that time?
13. That's a shame. I did try connecting to Balmung, but the server's not currently accepting new characters. It's understandably difficult to convince someone to split their time between such a large community and one player, too, but everyone just seems to give the "Go Balmung or don't bother" response. Still, thank you for the encouragement! I'll keep my fingers crossed on Phoenix.
14. Hi guys! I've been here before, asking about any love for Zodiark RP. I've recently re-subbed and am now completely overhauling my characters, which leads me to the following question: I'm on Chaos (so no Balmung), and I'm looking for EU roleplayers. Which server would be best out of the ones that aren't full? The servers that I'm currently able to access are Lich, Zodiark, Cerberus, and Phoenix. I'd really like to start connecting with people from the get-go, so any help before I confirm my character would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, WanderingWordsmith
15. Yeah, I kinda figured that would be the response I'd get, especially this late into the game's establishment. I'll transfer Lykala over at the earliest opportunity - I was just hoping to find someone on this forum who had a character on Zodiark in the interim. Thanks for the quick reply! I'll have a mosey around the forums in the meantime.
16. Howdy! WWordsmith here - I'm currently based on Zodiark where my active character, Lykala, is struggling to find any contact beyond blacklisting Real Money Service adverts and dungeon greetings. I'm more than willing to jump over to one of the more dedicated RP servers, but right now cash is a bit tight and I'd rather work in European time zones. If there's any players on Zodiark who are looking for the same thing I'm looking for, hit me up. Otherwise, I'll see you all on Balmung! Probably. Best wishes!
