It's very rare that a post makes me make a high pitched "Awwwwwh!". This post made me do such three times. I think I might be going soft... Whilst I'm on Balmung and not a performer, best of luck to you! (I'm just gonna go eat some nails to man up...)

Whilst we have the heights and weights near enough down, thought I'd throw in my two gil on the matter of ageing (bare in mind this is completely personal opinion/speculation given their physical traits, I cannot source a... Well... Source): - Infant Roegadyn are likely born the same size as the average Hyur infant, I don't think I will need to explain the female anatomy to explain this. With this taken in to account and looking at the overall height Roegadyn achieve on average (around 7 feet or more), it would be fair to presume that the race in general would grow at an accelerated rate. Perhaps reaching their adult height by about their fourteenth - seventeenth year? - There are youthful Roegadyn known to have completely white hair, so it is likely that silvering of hair is not a trait of ageing with the Sea Wolves (note I said Sea Wolves, for I have not yet seen a youthful Hellsguard with grey hair. As such, it's completely plausible this might not count for our redder skinned brethren). - Ageing seems to mainly take effect on the Roegadyn through means of flesh and wrinkles. You can see this in the Roegadyn male character creation screen where at least two of the four faces look more "mature". It may also be possible that the individual's complexion may begin to lack luster as they age, becoming more chalky grey, etc. - Given the physiology of the race, Roegadyn are most like the Causasian human bone structure than any other (ignoring their faces. Last I checked, no humans have dog-like noses...). Taking this in to account, it is likely that in their elder years their shoulders will contract, pushing their neck forward and giving them a slight hunch. - I would imagine the actual bones of the Roegadyn wouldn't get that much weaker in old age like humans, due to the considerable weight they would still have to haul around. However, in heavyset builds it is not uncommon to see things such as arthritis develop in later years. As such, whilst your elderly Roegadyn might not have weak bones, it would be plausible to have them have joint issues. Of course any internal organ issues, like with all other races, are completely plausible dependant upon the life your character has lead. Again, all of this is pure speculation. I am merely using my knowledge of anatomy and physiology to make these estimations. Please don't shoot me if they are wrong.

Oo, excellent. ^.^ The 'descent' has began in it's preliminary stages thanks to some RP with Obsidian last night. However, there are still a few milestones to pass and you're welcome whenever you are available.

Welcome to Balmung, and to the forums! I look forward to possibly roleplaying with you in the future. If you have any questions about the game, lore or generally, feel free to ask! The forums community is, as a whole, extremely friendly so don't hesitate.

Awesome, awesome. :3 Shall inquire after he's... TURNED TO THE DARK SIDE. MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. :bomb::tonberry::evil: ...:cactuar:!

Ah, wow! I wasn't expecting such replies. Thanks a lot, guys! Ansem - Would your FC, by any chance, need hired muscle? As charming as Asgarn is, I can't see him being a performer. Maybe if he gets a bump on the head... Whittle/Obsidian & Ember - I would love to have you both involved in this RP plot! I can easily contact Obsidian in game, but are you part of our LS, Ember? If not, I can add you.

That is a very real possibility. When you're next on, could you hook my up, Hornet? Also, I don't suppose a certain flirtateous Roe would be willing to help with thiiiiis? :moogle:

Ahoy, forum-dwellers! I have developed an idea for Sergeant Wastbyrtsyn's storyline which, if it goes right, shall become a rather pivotal part of his story. As such, I need people to help me out with it from an RP perspective! After all, what fun is a storyline moment without roleplaying it? So! For those of you that don't know; Asgarn so far. (This is a rough version, he does not yet have a wiki page, but it shall be based off this.) "Born and raised upon his father's vessel, Menphina's Tear, Asgarn was always expected to follow in the footsteps of his forefathers, to take up the axe and live a life of questionable morality. Sired by Wastbyrt Lothnarsyn, an extremely headstrong pirate verging on notoriety in the Northern seas, his mother was some unknown seafaring maiden, having been made to leave the crew of the Menphina's Tear only two weeks after bearing Wastbyrt the son he had so desired. It is believed that Asgarn might have up to five sisters, though with each daughter born, both mother and off-spring were forced from the ship at the nearest port, considered "undesirable". (Potential for one of Asgarn's sisters to be RPed at a later date.) Though, Wastbyrt's dream of a son whom would take up the tradition of the axe was squandered, for from a young age, Asgarn showed far more promise with a pistol and study of medicine than with any blade. This is not to say he was not without martial ability, able to hold himself in fist fighting brawls, but he devoted most of his time to study. Not chopping the enemies of the Tear to pieces. This brought a troubled upbringing for the young Roegadyn, being rejected by his father, even though he would rise to become the ship doctor after only fourteen moons. Seven more years continued of his service aboard the Menphina's Tear, his father gradually growing to accept his choice, though never truly embracing it. On Asgarn's twenty-first moon, the Menphina's Tear made port just off Aleport for a night of debauchery, drinking mead and spinning of tales in celebration of this momentous occasion in young Asgarn's life. Fate, on the other hand, had other plans. He had planned this night for months, the night he would abandon this life he knew was not his to lead. As such, that night, Asgarn vanished, staying out of sight and using what little gil he could take from the coffers to take the next caravan out of Aleport. This caravan was headed for Limsa Lominsa. Upon arriving in Limsa Lominsa, the first thing that struck Asgarn was the striking, red uniforms of the citystate's stalwart protectors. The Maelstrom. From this point he knew what he wanted to do with his life, devoting his pistol and his knowledge of medicine to the grand company for the next three moons. During this time, he has raised himself to the rank of Storm Sergeant First Class, preferring now to go by the name "Sergeant Wastbyrtsyn". A jovial, yet stoic upholder of Lominsan law, Asgarn believes fully in the ideals and protection of the naval citystate." That's my idea of a brief overview and the netting of what his Wiki shall be based off. Now, this point in his story that I wish to put in to action is in fact him -leaving- the Maelstrom to become a mercenary of sorts. (Also an excuse to level my Monk class. ;D) What I would need ideally would be a group of 2 - 3 Limsa-based/mercenary/morally questionable RPers to talk to him IC and make him doubt his allegiance. From there, I plan to have him leave Limsa and his service to the citystate behind... Not taking up the axe like his father, but for a while living the life of a mercenary with little to no faith in the citystates. I would also be open to any "morally-questionable" free companies at this time. So far, the only one of know of is the Night Blades. As such, I shall leave this post here and await any replies if anybody would be interested in helping me out with this. Thanks for reading and I hope we can work together! ^.^

On behalf of the Roegadyn-Balmung community, welcome! As Denn has said, it would do you well to join Broken Chairs, the Roegadyn linkshell. One, it makes you feel not so alone in your plus size body. Two, as Denn said, mini gooooooolf. And three, it is where we plot for world domination in a world that refuses to make sturdier chairs. MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA-... I mean... Mini gooooooolf! Also, welcome to the community! I look forward to meeting you in-game.

Apologies if I'm spewing back up an old reply. A mixture of skimming over replies and a memory of a goldfish mean it's likely I won't remember, anyhow. But... Am I mistaken in thinking there are Midlander Hyur in Ishgard? Sure, the Elezen pretty much run the show there, but this does not mean that the Midlanders are without their culture and lore there. What with Midlanders being the most wide-spread and populace of the races lorewise (before you jump on me saying "ERRYBODY R MIQO'TE!"), this really eliminates the need for official statements of their lore and origin because, to be quite honest, there would be more than one sub-race of Midlanders. Or do the Arabic and the Europeans have the same culture? So, to sum up that paragraph in a less confusing way... They are too widespread as a race to come together under one, definite culture. There are many within the Midlander race and this, in my opinion, should be embraced. Foot note: I don't think any of that made sense. Well... I KNEW WHAT I WAS SAYING! :moogle:

I could... Imagine Hornet doing that. Aaaaaargh! GET. OUT. OF. MY. HEAD. :frustrated: But no, to answer the OP's question, "Balumang" (Balmung, I'll presume?) is not getting more toxic. I've only came across less than a handful of "toxic players" in a month of playing. Plus, we have cookies. Cookie?

Hello, Hydaelites! My apologies if a post like this has already been put up on the forums, but after a brief search I could find none. As such, I thought it appropriate to create a thread with one simple message. Wherever you are, whatever your faith or beliefs: HAPPY HOLIDAYS!! (The colours... They buuuuurn! D: ) So! I'm just gonna leave this here. If you feel like replying with holiday pictures, messages or just wishing everyone else a happy holiday, then go on ahead. If not, don't. Possibly coming to XIV in the future, figured I'd say hi!
Dakki replied to Ranor's topic in Welcome Desk
Howdy, Ranor! Welcome to the forum! First of all, allow me to dismiss your concerns of elitism. Whilst I cannot speak for all members of the community, the actual game is nothing like reddit. Of course, some people have a dislike for World of Warcraft (myself included), nut the majority will not shove it down your throat or attempt to "convert" you. We're a friendly bunch like that. Also, feel free to ask away! We don't bite. Secondly, you'd be amazed at just how many Miqo'te exist which -aren't- the cute, flimsy kitty people. Not to say you should roleplay that type of character to stand out, I would shoot you, but the Miqo'te community as a whole are very mature. Either way, you won't be crucified for playing one like certain forums suggest. As for your timezone issues, this may come as a pleasant shock to you but I, too, am an EU player. Balmung certainly (not sure about Gilgamesh) has players and roleplayer from all timezones, so you'll never be short of company. As a bonus, I'm a bit of a night owl and am up when the US players are, but even if you're not, there's still many others ready and willing. I hope I've managed to answer all your worries, and look forward to seeing you in-game! Must hook up for some RP if you're ever in Limsa. Once again, welcome to the forum!!:moogle: -
Ooh, really? I honestly had no idea the game was on Steam! Although, I suppose it's a given, as they offer digital downloads. Out of curiosity, if you have already brought the game, is it possible to simply transfer it to steam, or would it require re-purchasing and downloading? I can certify that my PC is fine, though I suppose a bad install is possible.

In need of some Female Miqot'e for some RP. (Balmung)
Dakki replied to R'mah's topic in RP Discussion
It's been quite the entertaining read, R'mah. For that, my thanks, even if it wasn't intended! Best of luck with your event! And if you either need some sexy Roegadyn beefcake, hit me up. -
Hey! If you'll have me, I'll see if I can attend. Fits my character rather well, after all. If you could put me down as tentative, however, as due to timezone differences and the holiday season being a rather busy time... I can promise nothing. But I will try and look forward to your event!

Howdy, all! Asgarn here. I was just wondering if anybody had the same issue as me when taking screenshots or, even better, a solution? I shall write down what happens step-by-step below: 1: Turn on screen lock to hide UI (this makes little difference to the overall issue). 2: Press "Print Screen". 3: My entire PC freezes and my earphones start making the sound of a powerdrill in my ears until I turn off the computer by the tower. 4: Try again, rinse and repeat. As you can likely tell, this is frustrating to say the least as Asgarn is Hugh Jackman if Hugh were a Roegadyn. Not intentionally, he just ended up that way. Also, I need an avatar... My apologies if this is in the wrong section of the forums and feel free to flag me up if this is the case! Hope everyone is doing great and enjoying 2.1!

Howdy, fellow Roes! For the sake of Roe Pride... GO! GO! ROE ROE ROE! I believe I've seen you both around. In terms of when Asgarn is in character, he doesn't use magic at all. Purely medicine and bullets kinda guy. Haha! Though, the way I've made him, I could bring him down multiple routes (ie. deciding to take up the axe like his forefathers, going on a pilgrimage after some enlightening event in which he learns the ways of white magic, etc.), but for now he shall remain a musketeer. Can't wait to see you both in-game!

Hey there, Hrav! A pleasure to have another SW:TOR/Rift/Age of Conan veteran among us, though I'm plenty there's loads that I just haven't met yet. We should totally start a club... With nachos. And confetti. :moogle: Just between you and me, I hear Gilgamesh smells of cheese... Balmung, baby! Or the tonberry shall find you. Either way, a pleasure to meet you and welcome to the community. I hope you enjoy your stay and find the articles useful!

Wow, what an awesome way to be greeted after another day with my nose to the grinder (work... Who needs it? ). Thank you all so much for your replies. Balmung is certainly a friendly server by all accounts, these forums also, and I can tell I'm gonna enjoy it here! In reply to Olofantur, I have indeed dabbled with the idea of alchemy! Though, for now, Asgarns sole discipline of the hand is Goldsmith (OOC as it has nothing to do with his IC nature). It is certainly a very real possibility, though, and the storyline sounds interesting without even playing it yet. I shall get to work on Asgarn's wiki either tomorrow or the weekend, I have decided, due to wanting to experience 2.1 (Yaaaay, anti-social hours! Yaaaay, earliest possible access! Yaaaay!! ). I hope this is fine, but I promise I shall get round to it at some point. Also, all these FCs. I'm spoiled for choice, guys... Again! Thanks so much for your warm welcome! :moogle: <--- This post just needed another emote. It didn't have enough.

Hey, nice to meet you, too! By heavy roleplayer, I meant mostly in-game. However, I have been known in the past and may well do so in the near future to roleplay on forums, etcetera. Unfortunately, real life is and always has been extremely hectic for me, as such time to get on forums is limited. I suppose the "instant gratification" of in-game roleplaying is simply a lot easier with the modern lifestyle. That said, I am always open to new things! In terms of how my forum posts tend to be written, I always attempt to hold myself to a high level of literacy (this also applies to in-game roleplay). Of course, this is by no means essential to have a fulfilling roleplaying experience with somebody, but I like to make it as easy-to-read as possible for the others involved. Plus, I am capable of writing entire novels worth of information in my character wikis (ie. my Orc, Gorthek of Clan Dro'gar, in WoW... That wiki killed me but was totally worth it. Until the website it was on broke... ) Thanks for the link to the free companies of Balmund and I'll be certain to throw you a tell! (Maybe an invite to Broken Chairs, a Roe-exclusive Linkshell, if you'd like?) Before I forget! Some information I missed! Character names: Asgarn Wastbyrtsyn (pro. "As - Garn v - Ast - Beer - t - Sin) Like... "Beert", not "Beer Tee" and the "vuh" sound, not "Vee". It's complicated... Country of Origin/Timezone: United Kingdom ; GMT EDIT: Also, hello Brynn! Thank you both so much for the warm welcome. I'll get to work on a wiki page at some point tomorrow night, drafting it out tonight. I can tell the community here is one I'll enjoy!

*Gives a slow baroque bow* Greetings and Salutations.
Dakki replied to PaschtChime's topic in Welcome Desk
Welcome, fellow newcomer! Mortuary science, eh? I should be studying biology and behavioural science soon, myself. Two sides of the same coin, one living, one not so much! Haha. Given you're studying a science, I'll take it you're a science-y kind of person. If that's the case, I'd love to talk about it sometime. I'm... A major science boffin. Wish I could say I was as in to the arts as you, but I absolutely love your drawing! Stupid question, but did you do that piece on a computer or by hand? Either way, she looks awesome! Just hope that tongue doesn't lash me if I get too close. Ha! -
Role-playing alongside the storyline: YOU did WHAT?!
Dakki replied to Zac Evans's topic in RP Discussion
All this talk of donuts, croissants and sandwiches is making me hungry... Still, as accepting as we should all try to be of all RP-styles out there, there are certain points where a line must be drawn. For me, this line is to keep my characters out of/a minor role in all lore and "story mode" moments. This allows for creativity with your character, as well as being able to say "Yeah, I was there!" without the Donut-Croissant-Sandwich scenario. Of course, as is with all things human, some people will likely disagree with this concept. To them, I welcome their view point as mine is by no means the be all and end all, though it would be nice that (if a player insists on having their character being a major part in the storyline quests whilst in-character) their character simply roleplayed in a small-ish circle and, should they attempt to contact with the greater roleplay community, their character undergoes some minor tweaks just to avoid OOC conflicts of opinion. Apologies if I just re-wrote what you both said, just figured I'd throw in my two pence and ideas. I am now off to grab a sandwich. -
"Then ready the cannons an' open fire, ye cur!" But yeah... I'm hoping you won't, y'know, actually open your cannons on me! :cactuar: Hello, everyone! My name is Adam, but for the sake of IC/OOC coherency, it's probably best you call me "Asgarn". A little about myself... Well! I am an experienced roleplayer, having had MMO experience in multiple titles (including World of Warcraft, Star Wars: The Old Republic, Rift, Everquest, Guild Wars 1 & 2 and many more). I would consider myself a "heavy roleplayer", placing a lot of emphasis on developing my characters, though this does not mean I don't also like/roleplay with light roleplayers. I don't bite, guys. This said, I am also extremely interested in other aspects of the game (mostly duties, levequests and raids, not so much Player versus Player content). When out of character, my character's main role is a White Mage, so if you're on Balmung and need heals, hit me up! (Not literally, that would be mean. Yay, more brackets!) From an in character perspective, my main character is a Seawolf Roegadyn by the name of "Asgarn Wastbyrtsyn", meaning "Asgarn, Son of Wastbyrt", "Wastbyrt" meaning "Sharp Axe" in the Roegadyn tongue. Asgarn is currently standing as a Storm Sergeant Second Class of the Maelstrom and has recently returned from a campaign to push back the Garleans from Limsan soil (or waters... You know how those Limsans like their water). As such, he now lurks in Limsa Lominsa, doing... Sergeant-y things. His class in character, however is not that of a White Mage! Asgarn is a musketeer crossed slightly with a combat medic role, having chosen to study sharpshooting and medicine rather than the way of the Marauder like his father, but just as to how he came to leave his father's crew, you'll have to find out in roleplaying with him! Although, his idea of medicine is throwing a random vial of anonymous liquid at you and telling you to drink it when in combat. Once the Musketeer/Corsair class becomes available however (fingers crossed! :bouncy: ), I shall be changing him to that as his main class. For now, however, he's my Discipline of Magic character, planning to level Black Mage and Summoner also. I'm considering making a Highlander for Disciplines of War, but that is not yet certain. So! That's all I can think to write, though I'm certain I've missed a lot. If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask. If you would like to RP or go through any in-game content with me, feel free to approach me in-game or on here. Also, I am looking for a Free Company. Thanks for reading!

Hm. Most discerning news indeed. >_< I say this because any of you that have read Thorik's History will know that he had infact encountered The Echo, so to speak. I am also ashamed to say I didn't read too far into this matter, so.. To avoid meta-gaming I can either wipe that from his History (Although then he would die, as technically it saved him), or re-write that part.. Eg. The Clangers!! (Sorry.. I call the music playing Moogle's that.. ) Either way, this information into 'The Echo' is greatly appreciated and once I'm done with coursework and the likes, will most likely get to work on his backstory.. Oh, and Sterne, we ALL know what you get up to.. :moogle: (Kidding, ofcourse. Unless you do, in which case.. I am ashamed of you!! )
