So this evening, I had Rynathan successfully follow-up a thieving and upholded his end of the Code, and I want to thank everyone involved with my little spat of RP. And with all this, I've run Rynathan enough to get a good grasp on his character. But the only real trouble I have left is coming up with the Rogue's Code (which i can't seem to find anywhere >.<) so I can quantify how Ryn bends it to fit his guidelines. Specifically, the big part of the Code is that you don't steal from your fellow Lominsians, implying that the Code only applies to those of the city-state. And in his Rp this evening, he enforced the Code on someone (probably) not from Limsa Lominsa. He justifies this through acknowledging he isn't really a Lominsian either, and so bends the Code to apply to anyone in Lominsa. Since the Code is pretty much a shout-out to Pirates of the Caribbean (I mean, come on, Captain Jacke anyone? =D), and it's mentioned it's more like guidelines than hardset rules, I figure it's within lore for Rynathan interpretation to stand up to scrutiny. But I was wondering if anyone else out there RP'd a rogue, and had a suitable cache of Lore I could draw reference from. Having even the three tenants of the Code would be a good start as I wrought my Wiki page from the stone of my mind's eye. Translation: Beat my stubborn head against the keyboard till I am satisfied with the words >.>

Taken from an RP I've sent Rynathan through. He can be a bit of a wise cracker when he wants to be, and I found myself amused at how naturally it come to be (and I apologize for the lack of a spoiler; can't seem to get it to work ><')

Rynathan's Theme: Time's Scar- Chrono Cross PZ595N9NZVg It was between this and Stones from Ultima IX. But Stones is a somber and melancholic piece and while Time's Scar starts that way, it takes the mood and elevates it to become something more.

iI've been hesitating about putting pen to paper and establishing my miqo'te as more than just a light rp distraction. I really like his design, and I think I have the writing chops to handle a character that develops and grows. And, thanks to a random roleplay over the weekend, I impromptu'd out Pig, the baby behemoth, as his prone-to-chicanery mascot. So now comes the tricky bit; history which the character has no memory of. Born E'rynth Tia ('th' being the miqo'te accent, so Eorzeanized as Erin) to a Nomadic Seeker Tribe if the Thanalan desert, E'rynth spent his youth admist the desert and Ul'dah, where he picked up swordsmanship. After a falling out with his tribe over cultural issues, he adopts the name Rynathan Elurhandir, and sets about the realm as an adventurer, right around the time 1.0 rolls out. His travels and exploits, small in the scheme as they were, bring Rynathan to the Battle of Carteneau as one of the many foot soldiers in the field. It is within the battle that Rynathan suffers a traumatic injury and leaving him an amnesiac. By the time he comes to, Bahamaut is freed, the aftermath unfolds, and helpless to circumstance as he is caught up in the spell that flings him into the future. His stay amidst the Void is prolonged, as his body absorbs aether to recovet from emminent failure, so his return to time does not have him shortly expiring after. When he does return from his stasis, he finds himself in the craigs outside Limsa Lominsa. He falls in line with the Rogue's guild, not remembering his time as a swordsman but clearly possessing a instinct for fighting, where his duties to the Code eventually have him aquire the baby behemoth which he names Pig. His love for food also brings him under the Culinarian's Guild, which he uses to supplement his Rogue finder's fees and the money he makes working as an adventurer with his talents. *stops to catch his breath* That's pretty much what I have set in stone, though the details about his life before Carteneau are rather vague. Mostly because of my time in 1.0, and wanting to use details such as my previous profession level and legacy mark as parts of Rynathan's story. In addition, with his hair color being sonclose to aetheryte in color I figured that could be a by-product of being partially reconstructed. But now I need to hammer out the details, with the intention of being able to give plot hooks and tie-ins so as to bring this character into the community. And that comes with some points I need help with; Pre-adventuring life. If Rynathan was mid-late 20s at the time of Carteneau, 1.0 taking place over two to three years, and the Arial Battle of Mor Dhona being 15 years before 1.0 begins, Rynathan would have been a child around the time of the battle. Could his tribe have originated in Mor Dhona, driven to nomadic life by the battle's aftermath? What size would such a tribe be, and how many Nunhs would populate it? Would the shift to nomadic life weakened of stretched thenteibe thin, or would they have rallied together? Or would the tribe trade in Ul'dah and thrived before the Battle? Pre-Carteneau Adventuring: With Oschon as his chosen Guardian, Rynathan would probably have visited and stayed within each of the main cities. This would accont for a number of little things, like Rynathan's remarkably un-miqo'te accent and a capacity for communing with spirits. This would also allow him common sense upon being dropped outside Limsa Lominsa, and give him a time frame wherein he met or worked with other adventurers in the past, as well as building up enough of a reputation to join a Grand Company as a private when Dalamund was weaponized. Is there an official timeline for 1.0? Post-Carteneau: With Rynathan spending a delayed amount of time in stasis recovering, there are any number of consequences that could carry over. The big three would be his hair being blanched aether-blue, his right eye being restored with the same coloring, and the crest on his back being the sign of his passage. But considering the plot elements present in the Main Scenario, there are other potential consequences, such as developing an Echo power for a plot mechanic of both self revelation and progression. His new eye, being reconstructed from Aether, could give him the ability to see aether currents, and/or him an advantage with Arcanist magicks. It's kinda a pot-luck plot point, and over-doing it with the extracurriculars could make him a Mary Sue. What is an advisable limit to these capacities, and what sort of downsides would there be to possessing one or more? Thank you for your time and patience. Comments/Concerns/Threats of quarantine and fiery cleansing ? ;D

Hawken Jump back into the game in my Bruiser after the big announcement that a new developer had begun reviving the game. Subsequently beat my first TDM game by leading my team in kill count and without getting killed once in the 15 minute match. All in a Bruiser. Bloodborne. The Vicar Amelia fight. Summoned a mook to help me beat the boss, but ended up dying about a minute into the battle. Burn all my vials, down to a fourth of my health, and manage to land the deathblow a frame before the boss launched its would-be deathblow. I'm sure there are others, but these are the ones that are the most recent for me.

I find that most of the decisions I make are made within the boundaries of 'success' and 'failure.' I'll get half-way in my attempt, and then stall out and let entropy end my progression when the window for success grows smaller. Even with joining the RP community, I have this stigma upon myself that if post describing my plans for my character are not responded to then it just means it wouldn't 'make the cut' if I finished my work anyway. That if I had approached the situation any number of other ways, I'd have a chance at being 'successful.' My imagination has been working against me more than it has been working for me. As someone with a mild autism spectrum and anxiety issues, it's amazing how much I let some possibility outweigh what simply is. Part of it is mainstream culture, I suppose; Go to school, get a job, pay off debts, continue the pattern. Follow the formula and you might achieve success, but deviate and you'll certainly be a failure. But the truth is, success may not bring happiness, and failure isn't an absolute; merely a stage of progression, passed through on one's way. Sorry if I have rambled, or reiterated what others have already stated. But My comfort zone is small and cramped, and I like the theme of this thread.

(I've been mulling over how to get my character into the mix of things, and while I have the concept of a story and events therein...the character in question has been more a name doing things than an actual character. So this is some creative writing that I hope you all find an enjoyable read as I make this name into something more. Comments and critiques are most welcome.) The den of chaos about him was the only thing he could recall. With labored breathing, he opened an eye, struggling to lift his head out of the dirt to observe his place. The air was thick with brimstone, and he coughed as he pulled himself together. The bite of a wound seared his right eye closed, and wiping away blood he gazed about himself in befuddlement. Fire and brimstone rained from the sky, and masses of people fled in panic, swarming over themselves in outright terror. The lad blinked in confusion as he turned to the sky...and the holocaust above harrowed him down to the tip of his tail. Death incarnate had hatched from the moon. ~~~ The Rhotano Sea beat against the cliffs of La Noscea, and a fine mist filtered the sunrise as it climbed forth from its foamy bed. The world slowly stirred from its stupor, and the wildlife began to roam across the plains. Amidst the weather-worn crags burst forth an azure light, and the unconscious form of a miqo'te collapsed onto the ground. Clad in bloodied and battered armor, he lied unceremoniously upon the ground, so still that even the lambs gathered about him. And then, an ear twitched. "...spirit of wind...child of Oschon, head my plea...and ply this coil..." The wind whipped around him, and Cure's light enveloped his form. Coughing, the lad struggled to his knees as he choked out the healing invocation, each passage bring steadiness to his voice and color to his face. And when he felt vigor in his veins once more, he stood up uneasily, holding a hand to his throbbing head. "Well...that was an exceptional sensation to come around to," he muttered with muted sarcasm, his dictation precise and cultured. "Probably the worst pain since," he continued to himself, brow furrowing. "Since..." Nothing. There was nothing to remember. Panic set in and the miqo'te began to rub his head impulsively, squatting down and scavenging his thoughts. 'Easy, take it easy. So you hit your head wrong, not a big problem, you're not dead. Start small, insignificant. Oschon the Wanderer, the wind spirit- you are not completely blank-headed.' With that he sighed, falling onto his rump before yelping in alarm, having jarred his long, fluffed tail beneath his armored ass. "By the Twelve, the tail! I have this damnable tail! Of all the foolish things to forget," he hissed, delicately squatting on his haunches as he assessed the latest injury. He eyed his silvered appendage with annoyance, and then confusion. "Weren't you red, before...?" Red E'rynth. The name burned in his mind, but it brought annoyance, frustration to mind. It was a name. It belonged to him, but...he had chosen another. 'E'rynth, E'rynth...Rynth...' "Rynathan...Elurhandir." The name rolled off his tongue, and he purred at the familiarity. He muttered it again and again, sighing in relief as he accepted his own name. "Good...good. Nothing to get worried over. Now...what am I," he asked the air, rummaging around his person and finding a weather-worn satchel nearby. "Now let's see here," he remarked as he flipped it open and poured out its contents...and watched in awe as he deposited what appeared to be a small feast at his fee. The bag must have been Goblin'd at some point, for the quantity and freshness was truly absurd against its unassuming appearance."Hungry. Apparently, I was very hungry." A low, long growl churned in his gut. "Glad to see I haven't changed too terribly much," Rynathan remarked with a smile as he reached for the first of many mystery meals.

This has gotten my creative gears going quite well. While my current idea wouldn't have him remembering much of his past, it still contributes into who he is at the present, and that's more useful to me than he. I'm thinking something along the lines of number three, where he leaves his tribe due to personal dispute with his culture. Maybe after being heckled into a tournament of sorts, held after the Nunh of his tribe died of natural causes (if Louisoix can withstand Bahamut, even for as short of a time as he did, I think there can be an old Nunh somewhere in the mix). If I wanted this to be a card (or myself a cad, If I think too deeply into it), maybe he could have the finals under his belt before forfeiting, effectively giving his tribe the finger by leaving them with a lesser Nunh while he hit the road laughing. That might work, if the timing fell within two or three before the Battle of Carteneau. Probably a better idea somewhere between these ears of mine, but it's not a bad rough sketch. Leaves room for far past acquaintances looking for resolution/revenge, fellow adventurers met along the Wanderer's way, and comrades-in-arms brought together under a falling moon. Maybe just enough of that Final Fantasy romance to slip in, maybe. On another note, would E'rynth make for a good Seeker name?

Thank you both for the warm welcome. I'm aiming to have my character's wiki page squared away by this weekend for some RP. And to that end, I'm trying to formulate a decent back story by trying to take advantage of my imported character's tattoo. Is it beyond the realm of possibility to say that he was a foot-soldier at the Battle of Carteneau who was thrown into the future? I forgot he was a lv 30 Gladiator, so I figured I could play on that by muddling his memories. I also have come to realize that Miqo'te society is a bit skewed against males, and I've been trying to work around the fact that his name doesn't follow traditional conventions. I figure I can get away with the name by simply saying that he went by a new name after parting ways with his tribe, but I'm not familiar enough with the game's lore to wrap all this together into a comfortable, role-play friendly package. I do have two Phials of Fantasia I can play with, and I figure I'm gonna use at least one to tweak his appearance just right. Does that allow for a name change as well, or is purely a cosmetic thing?

While I'm still writing my character in the wiki, I've come up with a working concept that I think I can roll with. I'm planning on having Rynathan being a foot-soldier from the Battle of Carteneau who managed to survive Bahamut's onslaught to get pushed forward in time along with the Warriors of Light (I wouldn't go so far as to slap the title on him, since I never completed 1.0, but since he has the import tattoo on his back I figure that I can justify at least being there). And with the widespread amnesia being a side effect of the ARB reboot, I figure I can get away with him being a bit more harrowed by his journey through time and space by having him start out rather muddled. This would explain why he's a level 30 Gladiator, but doesn't recall ever being one. Or that males of his race are basically breeding stallions. So while he'd be completely oblivious to the finer details of the world around him, he can still act upon a debatable common sense. This being said, I am horrible at initiating RP, and don't really have a clue on how to network this kind of character into the community. And by going with this concept, I can't really rely on people from his past at all, unless they simply click with each other without really knowing This probably isn't the best thing to think out while sick, but it's a start. Thoughts, suggestions, death threats from above? =P

Good evening! It's been a good while since I've sets boots down in Eorzea, and a lot has changed. The moon blew up, the game became much more enjoyable, and my Elezen turned into a cat-lad. Not too shabby. It's a pleasure to join your community, and I hope that I can get involved with the ongoing plots behind the epic S.E. experience.

New guy here, with my two cents: [mytwocents I've noticed that with a lot of the content changes over the last two months that there has been a huge out-dating on the various FFXIV wikis that nobody has bothered to update. That and the wikis were never very comprehensive to begin with, and just copy-pasted a lot of the material from the main site into their wiki. To increase the site's activity and involvement from the community, why not add usefulness - have a comprehensive, up-to-date wiki on Eorzea's History, Character Classes, Class Skills, Recipes, etc. That way, you appeal to the old RPers by having a comprehensive listing of the history and cultures of FFXIV so as to help in the process of character creation in a "no spin zone" of Lore, as well as appeal to and draw in new RPers with a sound reference wiki of game mechanics and quest guides. [/mytwocents That, and (on a completely unrelated note) maybe change the background of the input screen for making a new post - it's freaking hard to keep track of the mouse cursor with this color of background. ; Anyway, that's my input - I hope it helps!

Thank you for the welcome! In terms of of my preferred type, I'm a Moderate RPer, though I have some Heavy RP tendencies from time to time. As for a Linkshell's theme, I'm really open to anything at this point, so log as it's not villain-y. Don't like to play evil characters most of the time.

Hello there. I'm new to Besaid, but not to FFXIV- I tried the game on a different server from release, but I kinda sorta left when my hype train crashed into the Great Wall of Reality. I kept up with the updates, especially after Yoshi-p took the reins, and came back after hearing about FFXIV 2.0 to see of it was worth the monthly fee. And I am liking the improvements, so I've decided to stay. My character is Rynathan Elurhandir of Limsa Lominsa, and I'm trying to find a pretty active Linkshell to join to delve into some RP. Does anyone have any recommendations?
