  1. Ameline preaches tolerance, love, and kindness while being known for her good listening skills and patient demeanor. That said, she isn't nearly as frail as she'd like people to think; she's just lived a hard life and enjoys being doted on by friends and loved ones - especially those of high social class/standing.
  2. "Get your hand out of my ass please." Talking with mutual friends in the street. Elezen: 99% arm, leg, and neck. (Also don't make fun! I bought the top not knowing the bottom was insanely expensive!) Next time will be awesome - I'm putting a new video card into my PC today.
  3. I definitely understand where you are coming from with this thread. I feel very similar, but am trying my best to change my experience. I know this isn't exactly sage-like wisdom or the answer you are looking for, but if you (or anyone else reading this thread for that matter) ever see my character around i truly mean it when I say that I am open to walk ups. I'm hardly an RP socialite like some of these fine folks, but my typical modus operandi is to find one or two good friends ICly, then try to explore their network of friends and forge new connections and interests. I will say that Balmung seems like it is no place for the bashful and I've had to be a bit socially bold in places where I'd normally not be on occasion!

  5. That's an interesting perspective. I have to admit that I've fallen victim to that assumption about the big fellas before. Posts like this make me re-evaluate my preconceived and possibly incorrect notions - thanks for that
  6. Ameline's sullen-looking suitor.
  7. Nap time for Elezen/Lalafell/Dustbunny. Not good enough? Fine, here's another.
  8. Yup, I'll be there. Someone please help me find an outfit that doesn't A) Make Ameline look like a peasant, or B) Make Ameline look like a hooker. Thanks for organizing this!
  9. Hrmm, I feel like this might fail to land since the general paradigm is to say, "I chose x race because y race has z trait that I don't like." Still, here goes. I went into the character creator with little to no knowledge of the FFXIV lore and no idea of what I wanted to play. I loved all of the races - they all had such unique charm! I skipped around and finally got to Elezen and was pleasantly surprised with their unconventional body proportions. I thought that it was a really unique visual representation on the 'elf' fantasy trope. The designers seemed to go out of their way to not make Elezen the perfect, beautiful people. They are gangly, awkward looking creatures that have a lot of visual character. So that's what drew me in!
  10. Normally I don't play music while I'm logged in to FFXIV. However, sometimes after waiting 1hr+ for a group as a lancer, [video=youtube]
  11. I. Basic Info Characters: Ameline Valtin Primary character: Ameline Valtin Linkshells: Chatterboxes, Friends of Momodi Primary RP linkshell: Friends of Momodi II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Heavy - I'm IC for most activities. Aside from the fact that most of the time I'd rather be RPing than whatever I'm currently up to, I feel like most in-game activities can be done IC. If I'm in a position where I can't be IC, I will edit my search comment to say so. When in doubt, just send me a /tell! Views on RP combat and injuries: I'm a true adherent to IC actions leading to IC consequences. If I pick a fight with someone, I am ready for the possibility of both giving and or receiving a beat down. As far as mortal wounds, disfiguring wounds, etc - I'm all for it. It all boils down to consent. Do you have it? If not, try again! Views on IC romance: These can be so lovely or so awkward. Either way, that's sort of romance in a nutshell. It's a huge aspect of social interaction. RP imitates life; life thrives on love. I am accepting of this, but only in an IC scenario. I think it's a bit contrived and boring to OOCly craft a courtship. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): I would absolutely adore Ameline having some PC kin. If this is something you are interested in, let me know and we'll see if the details come together! Aside from that, I'm always open to new and diverse RP scenarios. I try not to limit myself as to what I will or will not do, but I do ask that if you are going to ICly interact with my character in a way that will permanently alter her body or psyche, please contact me for consent first! Views on lore: I'd like to consider myself a moderate on this issue. I will research lore and learn as much as I can, but I acknowledge that I simply will not retain everything. Occasionally, I may have to invent something because I don't recall reading any relevant lore on the subject. I don't like to do it, but it happens. If someone else does some lore-bending that doesn't really affect my character, I usually just go with it. Just be mindful of what you are bending! Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): Coming from other MMOs, I find using /say and /em to be the most enjoyable methods of RP. Sometimes I emote whispering to someone and send them an [iC] designated /tell. I try to be creative, I just don't like the idea of only RPing in a linkshell. It seems insular and unnecessarily exclusive. III. 12. There will always be differing opinions on how long such journeys should take -- so, in my own humble opinion, the best approach to take is the one that gives YOU a good story and a good experience. If you want a story lasting days, make the journey take days! If you just want an evening of roleplay with a two hour scene, make the journey take two hours! If your character has to RUSH to Southern Thanalan on Chocoboback to save her friend -- why not three minutes? We often like to get technical and try to play to what we think would be realistic in terms of travelling time, but I think it's always best (and convenient) to bend the time it takes around the kind of scene/scenes you wish to partake in. Do whatever results in a fun time for you and your partners -- providing they agree to take that approach as well! Just my two gil! I love this answer very much. I know consistency seems "right", but sometimes it just isn't what the doctor ordered. Generally speaking, if my character is traveling from Limsa Lominsa to Ul'dah, I let a few IC days elapse. But there are scenarios that I can imagine Ameline mounting up on her Chocobo and riding hard for. In short, I agree whole-heartedly with Berrod!
  13. Lust vs Chastity 4 - Ameline longs for companionship, but she isn't in it just for her physical needs. She would rather remain chaste for the rest of her days than to bed someone simply to satisfy an urge. She leans more toward chastity, but awaits the day that the right individual comes along. Gluttony vs Temperance 7 - Ameline lives a lean life. She has no permanent residence and spends most of her time on the roads and wilder places between cities. The virtue of temperance is necessity for her lifestyle. Past the whimsical facade, she is very practical and calculating with how she rations and uses what she owns - food, gil, etc. Greed vs Charity 5 - Ameline cares very little for material goods. It isn't a moral stance, it's just the byproduct of her vagrant lifestyle. While she can be charitable on occasion, it is typically out of convenience. If she is carrying a heavy load of supplies and does not want to carry around a 2 ponz bag of gil, she may hand it off to the nearest caravaneer in exchange for something she can more readily use (Example: Recent bandit movements along a main thoroughfare). Sloth vs Diligence 2 - Ameline goes at her own pace. Even close friends will note that she is often late and never seems to be in a hurry to be anywhere. She works for her living, but her living is subsistence and that is fine with her as it keeps life simple. It is not uncommon for travelers to spot the lanky Elezen lounging in creeks or beaches in the middle of the day. Wrath vs Patience 8 - Ameline is many annoying things, but she is not hot-tempered. She has been raised from a young age to weigh situations carefully and to never jump to conclusions. Because of this, many people find her to have an unprecedentedly forgiving level of patience - even in the face of confrontation and insult. She is no push-over, but is not one to draw steel quickly. Envy vs Kindness 8 - People who know Ameline know one thing - she's a sweetheart. She is always willing to lend an ear to a stranger or friend alike and seldom has a negative thing to say about anyone. Because of her vagrant lifestyle, her envy of wealth is practically non-existent. She would rather barter services for necessary provisions than take a coin purse to the market any day of the week. It is true, she looks upon beautiful people and occasionally wishes she could be as glamorous as they are, but she knows that she is who she is; money, fashion, or enhanced beauty can't change her soul. Pride vs Humility 5 - Ameline does not suffer from self-esteem issues or lack for confidence, but she has a realistic awareness of the more experienced, wealthy, and beautiful people that inhabit the lands she walks. She will freely admit to not being the most beautiful creature to walk the City-States or the most skilled pathfinder in the lands. Still, she takes pride in her skills and will not be afraid to give an honest and uninflated appraisal of her ability if asked. Does your character lean more towards the Sins or the Virtues? Ameline tends to be a mixed bag; by a small margin, she tends to lean more toward the Virtues. Which Sin does your character most emulate? Sloth. She wouldn't know how to cope with a "real" job. At present, she's laying around about 85% of the time, working the rest. Which Virtue does your character most emulate? Kindness. Ameline is a kind-hearted Elezen that would never intentionally shun someone or attempt to wound their pride or feelings. She is quite aware of her empathetic nature and nurtures it commonly - she feels that there isn't enough optimism or kindness in the world at the moment. Which of these Sins or Virtues do you and/or your character believe they need to work on the most? Ameline has some serious issues regarding her struggle with Lust and Chastity. Without a stable romantic interest, she will continue to pine over lovers lost and keep from achieving anything of importance. This sort of goes hand in hand with Sloth. Her lack of ambition holds her back both personally and socially. She has the education and talent to be someone, but is too distracted with her internal struggles to really get out there and get her piece of the pie.
  14. Elezen Name: Ameline Valtin Elezen Clan: Wildwood Gender: Female Timezone: CST Looking For? Friends, Rivals, Traveling Companions, Romantic Interests, Nemesis, etc! Does your character fit the 'common' lore of your elezen or are they singular?: Ameline is pretty traditional in regard to Wildwood Elezen culture. There are a few minor divergent attitudes from the typical lore, but nothing lore-shattering. What are your RP limits? I really don't want to limit my potential experience by putting a list of scenarios that might make me uncomfortable or that I'm not well-versed in. Still, I would ask that you respect my experience and ensure that you have my consent before attempting major actions that affect my character in RP!
  15. I don't think there's enough Elezen in this picture. EDIT: You're all beautiful!
  16. That looks great Bubble! Can't wait to see what else you can do! I know you said you were an artist, but sheesh. That's awesome!
  17. While we're on the subject. . . I love our size comparisons also Zella's faces crack me up sometimes Okay Bubble, you're killing me with that last one. That is just too adorable!
  18. There's really only one or two reasons to ask this question and all of them are gross. By extension you are also gross. Just gross dude. More 16 year olds for me then You are my new favorite. I'm not even going to bother specifying favorite /what/
  19. I love it! I may have a letter or two to send, so if I see you on, I'll add you! Great immersive concept!
  20. Nice to meet you! I'm new to the Balmung RP community myself and would love to have a few more folks to run around with (especially Elezen!) I hope to see you around!
  21. Sounds great to me! I'd usually be online by now, but I spent most of the evening hastily writing my wiki entry I'm usually hanging around Gridania and the surrounding areas. I'm sure we can find each other out there and maybe even squeeze in some RP if I can talk you into it heh. Thanks! I appreciate that and am already locked and loaded with a query. Where can I go to get a good, in-depth read on the lore behind the FFXIV world? Also, always interested in RP! I'm trying to work Ameline into a bit of an extrovert, so I'll make sure and crash your party if I ever see your character around!
