When I was young, I used to exclusively play male characters because I was uncomfortable with the flak I'd get for being a woman playing an MMO (my WoW server at the time was...not pleasant). I eventually grew out of that and started to appreciate the idea of female characters getting to do cool stuff, so now I've essentially flipped around since I play women exclusively. I've never actually thought about it much before now. At any rate, as far as I'm concerned, I'm not going to disapprove of anyone playing what they'd prefer/are comfortable with. Gaming is supposed to be fun, after all.

No worries! There's no rush, really. I tend to be on from 5PM EST until about 3AM EST (because I have no life), so your hours are more than workable for me. I'm absolutely still interested; if you're down, either poke me on the forums or /tell ingame when you're on. : )

I'm also still learning the lore (and am also pretty nervous about getting into things on my own, for what it's worth), so I feel you on that front. If you're not averse to RPing with someone who's still getting to know the ropes lorewise, or to having a Highlander escort your lady, feel free to hit me up ingame sometime.

Oh god, I hope this is in the right place. So despite my tendency to be horribly nervous about roleplaying in general (especially in MMOs), I've decided to take the plunge and try my hand at joining the community here. A little about me: I also play WoW (and SWTOR), and while I have about nine years of roleplaying experience on there, I don't have any in FFXIV. This is something that I really want to change, as I'm really enjoying the game. The roleplaying community (from what I've seen on these forums) seems to be very welcoming as well, which is encouraging. As it stands, I'm working on getting a better grasp on the lore and setting before I start seriously delving into things, but I thought that reaching out might be a good idea. In addition, I'm pretty low-level (almost 24 in my first class), so getting more gameplay experience is probably for the best as well. (I also like to raid sometimes, and I plan to in the future, but that's neither here nor there.) If anyone's inclined to hit me up, I'm on Balmung as Arcian Martell, and I always welcome friendly conversation or advice.
