Pfft, Rini? Duh. lol But it's true, death really is overlooked, not just the trauma of killing, but the real trauma of losing people around you. Sure we have our sad backstories, but people who are willing to actually kill their character, and do it in the right manner, can almost be down right depressing. Looking back over story lines, sometimes years of roleplay just to have that person truly die, not brought back to life, can really change the way you play your character. Heck, even the ones not directly involved would feel the effects if the person was integrated into the server. For those who us who go to the Grindstone, imagine no more Judge. Not that he quit, but we actually know and our characters know that he died for X reason. Even if someone did his job people would always remember the guy on the horse that walked around yelling; he can't be replaced. Characters would really reflect on that and, in turn, look and feel more real. Life needs death, the circle of life, etc etc. It's a really interesting concept to think about. I don't think this means for everyone to kill their character senselessly, but to have that option open if it seems like the best or most interesting hook, assuming you are okay with losing that character, can lead to some really interesting role play. I'm still waiting to be invited to an IC funeral. If Rini ever dies there will be a funeral! lol. And there might be some out there that I just haven't seen. That's just my opinion, but it does give you something to think about. It also begs to ask, what would people remember your character for?

Hello all! We will not be hosting our Friday tavern night for a bit. I have some RL obligations that will keep me busy for awhile and we will be re-staffing our waitresses. See you all in April!

We are inviting all who would come to Wayfarer's Rest for a night of socializing, eating, drinking, and merriment. We are holding a feast as a gathering for our members and we are leaving the doors open to those who would like to join. Unlike our tavern nights, there will be no service; no served drinks, nor will individual meals be cooked. Instead guests will be treated like family, our bar will be open, food will be spread along every table to fill plates, and, unless we see people rolling casks out the building, everything will be free and available to everyone. This would also serve as a good time for potential applicants and other Free Companies to get to know us. Festivities will be held at Wayfarer's Rest on the evening of the 24th sun of this moon. We were going to have an eating contest at this date, but seeing as it is the last day I will be able to play for about half a month, getting married IRL , I decided to instead host an open house for anyone looking for social RP for that evening. [align=center] Wayfarers of Eorzea Thread (WIP) Wayfarer's Rest: Fashion Contest [/align] Are you ready to rhyme Eorzea? The Wayfarers of Eorzea will be hosting a fashion contest on the 17th sun of the second Astral Moon. Wayfarer's Rest will be remodeled and fitted with a stage for our contestants to strut their stuff for a chance to win a few prizes. Contestants will be judged based on the look of the outfit and originality. It can look cool, sexy, scary, interesting, or anything you can think of that is creative. Feel free to even go for the cosplay side of things if you are looking to mock a specific character from Final Fantasy or other games in general. Again, the focus is creativity so pre-made outfits will be judged lower than those who piece their costumes together. The rules are simple, sign up, show up, and showcase your stuff in the allotted time. Many contestants will compete, but only one will win First prize. Signups can be done at Wayfarer's Rest or contact L'rinhi Kett by Mogmail. We welcome any who would like to attend to support their friends or just to watch the event unfold. Participants drink free, yes FREE, for participating in the event. Patrons who come to watch will have access to our bar and restaurant as well as several door prizes! This was an event that was brought to us back before we merged with the Eorzean Institute. They wanted to put one of these on and now we are here to deliver! Contestants will be able to show off their styles and act as wacky and fun as they want for the time they are given. Dance, talk, tell a joke, show off. It's up to you. This is a much more laid back and fun event than the previous two. Just make sure to enjoy yourself! Here are the facts: Signups are to be accepted no later than March 16th, 10:00 PM CST. That is the deadline. PM me here, via the RPC, with the entry form filled out. You can find the 'form' set up at the bottom of this post. Please make sure to sign up ahead of time! Participants must be present at the event at 7:00 PM CST. The order participants will go in will be announced at that time. If you will be late please contact me ahead of time and let us know and we will try to hold a later time slot for you but no promises. Participants will have 5 real minutes on stage show off. This should provide enough time for all participants without keeping everyone very late. Costumed will be judged by overall look and creativity. Emotes will be in yell to separate them from the rest of the emotes that fill the tavern. After performing the judges might ask questions or comment about the outfit. You must be present at the end to win! Additionally, we have a few standard rules for attending the event and participating: No IC combat or OOC open arguments in the Rest during the event. Please respect other players. Do not harass other attendees or you may be asked to leave. For those wishing to watch the event take place and enjoy the contest, we will be serving drinks to patrons. We encourage anyone who would like to come to do so as this will be just like a tavern night with some added flavor. If you dont mind, I can grab a few of your members who would be interested in doing a few fill in "event" ideas I had! Also, Bastion was already working towards running a paid raffle of 1,000 gil per person but you stand to win prizes worth several thousands of gil IE Replica Allagan Costumes or a Primal Minion pack! In that case we will happily defer that to them. I will try to be there personally, unless something comes up, but I won't have a count on how many of us will be there until the day of. : )

Yep! Even though we run a tavern I won't hesitate to pass on that an NPC when no one is wanting to work is still a nice feature to those who like to drop by. Wayfarer's is techinically only open 2 days a week, but we always encourage people to come when they need a place to RP with others. If you leave the doors open to people then your regulars will feel more comfortable showing up and you might possibly get random rp. : )
