I read volunteer/throw you in as a person in a picture and completely overlooked the 'so busy' thing so, didn't realize you were also volunteering to draw. Durr. I can't read.

But the creepy factor is also hilarity factor. However, if the arrangement makes you uncomfortable I can change it. Would you prefer that?

Okay, sorry this took a bit. First off, Gerik, if you'd like (I think you will) we can put you in with Eiri and Kylin if neither of them have any complaints. If you don't want to or if they don't want to then we can put you alone. Secondly, thanks to Vee (aka Isil'wen) for helping me random choose the artist line up. So we have (UPDATED 7:32 pm EST) 1. Like I said, I can't say whether or not your suggested 'theme' will definitely happen but if you want to give us some suggestions, I, personally, love suggestions.

K so we've got: Ladies x Doods 1. Xenedra x Paradyme 2. Risu x Yssen 3. Alothia x Farridor 4. Deidre x Zesiro 5. Eiri x Kylin 6. Siobhain x Shippu 7. Manari x Zenge (I ended up splitting them into 'males' and 'females' and put Eiri in with the ladies and I used the balled up paper + which does my grandpa pick from each pile method. It was a toss up between Kylin and Eiri for which went into the 'girl' pile. No offense intended.) If this is acceptable, I'll need a special volunteer of artist to do two pictures. If no one has the time for two then I can do two! Furthermore, if anyone wants to pick which pieces they do, feel free. If you don't want to pick I can assign artists the same way. For the sake of diversity, I'm encouraging the artists that volunteered (if they don't want this to be random) to draw for couples that don't include their own characters.

Shippuu and Deidre are both geniuses. I vote this should be a February thing which gives us til the end of February to get the pieces done. I guess we'll take today and tomorrow for people to have time to see the thread and put their names into the proverbial hat. Artists that would like to take some of the pictures can put down their names too. And tis now a Valentione's Day picture since we're keeping it all FFXIV. Thank you guys. I'll edit the participants we have so far into the first post.

I should've done this a day or two ago to give myself some more time... But what the hey? I'd like to do a piece for Valentine's Day (though it may not be 100 percent finished on the day) and I'm open to sweet or silly suggestions. You can suggest your character, my character, existing FFXIV characters, monsters, and critters (Chocobos need love too), and have the scenario be comedic, romantic, or some weird combination of the two. This does NOT have to be canon (i.e. some existing relationship) and whichever suggestion speaks most to me is the one I'll do. Though I know a lot of us are preoccupied with other projects, I welcome other artists to do Valentine's Day pictures for these suggestions as well and we can post them in this thread for fun. Maybe we can just post them when we get time even if it's after the sparkly hearts day. Sorry if this is a lame idea, it just occurred to me as cute. That looks really interesting. Like Aysun, I'm apparently behind the times here cus I'm not 100 percent on what they're supposed to do. I assume you can use them like character blogs, or like yours, with references to things that (I gather) relate to the way you see your character. I'd kind of like to have an art one where Siobhain answers awkward questions via pictures. But then I'm weird.

I love savage, abused Shippuu! Well... I love that picture. I don't got a weird kink. It's so emotional and raw. Makes me want to be mad for him.

"Ah...Ahh...", he stammered, taken aback but quickly try to rectify this by lowering his voice some, and puffing his chest out, "Ahm greatful, Lady Knight, ahn Ahm honored to use such ah beautiful, well-made blade!" A brief smile flickered across the Roegadyn's face, wholly softening her expression while she regarded the appreciative man. Jasper's voice dissipated the gentleness in the next moment, however, returning her more stern demeanor. "It's quite alright, we won't be doing weapon training till later - And we give you the weapons for that. It's to regulate damage caused to our personal, ah..." The word was the only thing that came to mind at the time, "To our, uh, punchbag. My apologies for calling you something as dire as that, Kohrae." Siobhain did not allow herself to reflect any exasperation or disapproval for this choice, only inhaling deeply through her nostrils and swallowing any resulting sigh she might have been feeling. Training was serious business, and the cheery fellow simply did not match what she was accustomed to. The idea of using 'regulated weapons' likely wooden training implements was beyond her-- something she had never been given the option of and bore the scars to prove it. All the same, his program, his rules. Looking back over the others, she addressed Farridor again, briskly. "Keep the sword. I'll make another if and when the occasion calls for it." "If you'll step this way, we'll get you registered before the first class." He smiled warmly before stepping into the make-shift dojo of sorts. Without waiting to see if her new 'acquaintance' would accept her offer, much less walk with her towards the indicated building, she began at her lengthy stride again. Another shy lad gave his name, 'Paradyme', and she bobbed her head in greeting, purely out of force of habit. Kohrae, Jasper, Farridor, Paradyme, she mentally noted. There was a skittering little body covered in robes and an obscuring hat that reached the clipboard before her. 'Risu'. She signed in with a symbol rather than a name at first, of a small flame within a diamond. After a moment, she scrawled two illegible words, even by her standards, and followed the others in to the training room. "Please, take a seat. We'll begin shortly." Oh. Right. Sitting. She approached a seat not too close to the other occupants of the room and gave it a passing inspection before she took it awkwardly. She was used to standing-- this was already proving to be a new experience.

A red-skinned woman, clad in armor dulled only enough to prevent blinding anyone in direct light strode into the clearing with purpose. She already spotted the group collecting around one male, 'Jasper' she assumed from the stammering, red-faced Farridor. Any hesitation Siobhain might have felt for appearing tardy to this (for her) impromptu training session was quashed beneath her stern mask. She wasn't a resident of Gridania and the forest-city was still somewhat new to her-- finding her way here had been something of a miracle in itself, thank Llymlaen or Nophica, whichever was responsible. "Eh's not mah fault it broke...s'not the weapon Ah chose, either...eh's jus'...ah..." The young man was tripping over his words so profoundly she almost felt sympathetic. Or disappointed. No... definitely sympathetic. At the risk of putting her oddly shaped nose into business where it was not wanted, she spoke up in her usual, authoritative tone. "I've a spare blade, lad, if you have need of it." Even while the Roegadyn spoke, she began to unfasten the buckle on her belt, raising the scabbard of the blade towards the stranger. The weapon it held was a fine one, possibly too dangerous for sparring and crafted light for her hand. She'd been considering dual-bladed practice so both blades she bore were light, one-handed pieces-- but her interest rested more deeply in learning how to handle her thrown weapons.

This is really good! My eyes got watery. Unh. *digs them out with a spoon* I liked it a lot.

I'm glad to see you posting your pictures up again. I'd like to see Ship in alternate outfits, myself. And I hope we can do an art trade again sometime soon.

21. I gather dying in game doesn't mean your character actually dies, but rather is knocked out or wounded. However, let's say a party was RPing in a dungeon and everyone died. Would that still mean the whole group was knocked out/wounded, or would you RP that the group retreated and it's the individuals' decision to say if they were wounded or not? Eva's right on this, that not many people agree with in game death vs KO, or about whether or not you'd be considered dead in this particular situation. However, when you're RPing in ANY PVE situation, (i.e. outside a city) you run the risk of being killed by a mob or group of mobs. In a dungeon, the risk is multiplied. Most heavy PVE'ers don't want rp in a dungeon for exactly that reason-- it's too easy to get distracted by typing and suddenly someone accidentally pulls and everyone is dead. Usually, in such a situation with RP'ers, everyone respawns, regroups, buffs, and takes down the mob. Even when it's not accidental, and you went after a mob, IC, this is commonly the case. You keep trying until the mob is dead and in character, you kind of say it was a one-kill wonder and keep right on truckin'. Otherwise, if there is no way to go on (and this is why I don't ever suggest RPing during end-game content if progression is part of the focus), you back up and let everyone assume the degree of their wounds and basically say 'We need more training' and RP your way out. These are just suggestions, and likely the way I would personally handle that situation. Even people who take roleplaying very seriously don't tend to take the repercussions of PVE/RP too literally when it comes to their characters. If you intend to PVE and RP, I advise doing it while leveling or grinding dungeons you know you can survive with a group and including only people who are both willing to be patient and include RP and who are like-minded with you to avoid any more stress than absolutely necessary. 22. What's your favorite FFXIV monster? When a mob aggros is that taken into account in RP? Such as if a group was discussing a plan and was camped out somewhere when all of a sudden something comes waltzing in and attacks someone. Would that be RPed as an unexpected ambush, or would the group kill it and ignore that it happened? I mentioned this briefly above but I'd like to elaborate on my point of view on the matter: I have had a world spawn pop up right over me and rolfstomp my RP before. It was -not- pretty, not expected, and it was something that the game just does that we can't control. I have to assume this sort of thing is just possible in the world of the game-- sometimes you and your friends might be just standing around and something comes along and kills you like an angry mountain lion or a zombie. I usually go for the second option as a rule. The reason being, if you decide to always go with rping it as an ambush, you have to factor in the likelihood that a mindless killing machine came after you guys with purpose, etc. What do you do if some wandering group of PVE'ers pulls over and kills the mobs for you one day? RP them into it? Assume that you killed it yourself? And what happens if it kills you all and you have to respawn and switch out of your RP gear to the gear with which you wipe the floor with an angry Cactuar mob? Do you RP that you took the time to become conscious and change your clothes to kill the spiny beast? It's a complicated situation and when you move on down to picking and choosing the situations that you decide whether or not to RP the involvement of random spawns, it can cause conflict with others that don't want to assume that. That's why I choose to pause rp, kill the thing, and return to rp, the same way I would in a game with enemy factions that troll their way into your roleplay with the aim to annoy or kill you. I don't pick and choose, when I do manage or someone manages to kill a legitimate non-RPing troll that they were a noteworthy situation in my roleplay, and due to that, I usually just ignore non-RPing people when they come running up to spit on me and challenge me to a fight-- or I'll kill them then return to my RP as though nothing happened. It's hard, in those situations, to tell when someone is being serious and trying to attack you, but they usually have ways of relaying that, even if you can't speak to one another.

I can try my hand at a character outside FFXIV, though I'm getting so used to it I dunno if I can.

Tablet colors might let me reduce the prices of some color commissions though, so that'll be good. I've also been considering using a tablet just to make traditional pictures more spiffy. It's being mailed on Saturday, so hopefully, we shall see. Again, Shawnzy, I'm ecstatic that you're happy with it. It's my first Lalafell, and I look forward to DOZENS more. Hopefully there will be so many Lalafell. Thicker lines, possibly, from this day forward.

Your art is lovely, even if you say the old stuff is old and the new stuff is messy. >.< I'm also from Louisiana-- actually I'm from Florida and I moved to Baton Rouge for about twelve years, before finally moving back. Given that's nearly half my life I think I can say I'm half Louisianian.
