Not at all! I wanted a solid-looking character for this. Female Roegadyn would be great. Also, since this is a longterm project, I won't mind if you want to wait until Beta is out to get a really good idea what your character looks like. (Even if you don't get in, someone could help you with that. Hint hint.) Would you like me to confirm you? Yes please! I'll send you what ref pics I -do- have sometime today or tomorrow.
-
May Siobhain have the Odin vs Paladin slot? Or would it be too difficult with so little in the way of female Roe reference?
-
I need to get them down to 30-45 minutes!
-
Moltove's piece is finished (see first post on thread). Gonna start work on Mtoto's sometime today.
-
I use Prismacolor markers and layer colors while the ink is still wet to make them blend better. And my speediness-- it's really only when I'm 'in the zone' so to speak. I can sit for like 8 hours and just stare at a piece of paper while I'm working with no breaks. I don't think it's healthy. I'm soooo happy you like it.
-
I'll probably pass out if I try to rush myself like I did yesterday... But I'll probably rush myself like I did yesterday. =3=
-
I'm not sure when I'll be able to start but I can throw it on up there, Miss Deid. I'm interested in trying my hand at your character anyhow. And I'm going to add to that first main post that if anyone wants their sketch colored, they can always pay me later or just do an art trade with me like Aysun did.
-
Thank you, Molt, and Mtoto, I could use one or two ref pictures, please. Uploading my list.
-
Once again, I'm happy you're happy Teveriel! Hope you can find some use for it. And -your- work makes me want to learn how to use a tablet better, Mtoto. Once I get another, I'm going to give it a shot, but markers seem to be working out so much better... Q_Q Well. They're coming along. If I still have your permission, I'm going to try to draw Mto next. And speaking of which-- Aysun! The first post in this thread is edited with your picture. Hope you like it. I used the bard concept sketch for the clothes idea-- but clothes she has. It's almost 6 am so...sleepy time for me.
-
Thank you. I can understand his stance on the matter. And yeah, Tev sent me a ref so I looked up the Black Mage garb and thought I'd die trying to sketch it. I might have made his face a little manlier-- won't get away with that on Highlander or male Roe faces. >.<
-
This is the image I referenced besides a the concept art picture of Merlwyb where her hair feathers out to cover her ears . I've seen the 3D renderings of her, I haven't paid much attention to the males, and yes maybe their ears will be bigger, maybe not, I doubt they will-- but my drawing's ears are no where near as extended as an Elezen's. If they were completely round, and from this angle they would have to either point or be rounded, she'd just look like a Hyur with funny eyebrows. I want to play a Roegadyn because I want the stats, I want the body, I want the face, I want the background for a Hellsguard, I want the skin, I want everything about a Hellsguard. Drawing a picture in my style to my preference isn't bending the lore any more than anyone who's ever drawn a Miqo'te with 'cat girl' ears rather than the sleek, realistic ears that they have and it's exaggerating a tad to compare what I've done to her ears to dog ears on a Miqo'te. I never intended to 'rustle' anyone's 'jimmies' when I drew this picture, and for that I apologize-- but I have my way of drawing and I will continue to draw that way until it suits me to change it. I do appreciate your concern. I don't intend to mention her ears any more than I have in the wiki, and I didn't make any effort to give a length in inches or the angle at which her ears pointed because it simply didn't occur to me.
-
On the matter of ears, I did have some problems at first deciding whether to make them more round or keep them a bit more exaggerated, as I prefer to draw pointier ears (even on Legolas and the Hobbits from LOTR, and their ears are comparably more round than other elves/halflings I've seen). I did cut them down from the super Blood-elf style length I had originally because she came out looking much more Elezen than Roegadyn. Of the noses-- I try not to shade in ink anymore, as it's my personal preference but now that I've seen a Hellsguard a bit more closely, I'll make a note to darken the underside of her nose somewhat when I do get to applying color. Thank you for pointing this out. Also, finished Teveriel's picture (see above).
-
Also: Here is a new piece. Took me about two hours to do with the inking. I'm only -linking- it here, not uploading until I have clearance from the person/organization from whom I used a stock photo as reference. I used Tigg-Stock (from deviantARt)'s photo for reference for the pose, but changed it a bit since I wanted her to be holding a shield. I also flipped it in the hopes that I wouldn't have all my characters facing the same way, then ruined myself by having her head direct to the left. Pew. I also used the FFXIV paladin armor concept for a reference for her armor. This is the first time I've (I hope) successfully drawn armor and I'm pretty happy with the outcome. And finally, she is in her teen years in this picture-- hence why her hair is long and she is a bit on the thinner side.
-
It's true, she does. It was intended, as otherwise I don't have much reference with Eorzean fashion except for concept art for the class sets I can find on line and none of them seemed 'noble' enough at the time so I just went with the Amano wispy things with asian influence. But it will be noted and I will attempt to rectify it.
-
Thank you as always, Rav. And anytime, Rex. I think I can work around the not-knowing-what-style-hair thing for your Roe if it becomes too much trouble. Edit: I forgot to mention that I have ten free sketchy-thing slots open. It'll be pencil and likely not clean as it's supposed to be practice for drawing something as quickly as possible, but if anyone's interested in a freebie sketch of their character, feel free to pm me with some reference pics.

Hello again. I decided that since everyone is posting art stuff that I would like to post art stuff too. I do commissions in pencil, inks, Prismacolor Pencils, and Prismacolor Markers. I'll list my basic prices from my dA commish page here-- Sketch - Pencil with shading Bust $5 3/4 to Full $6 Additional characters for 3/4 to Full +$2 (-2 for RPC people) Ink - Flat lines, no shading unless requested Bust $9 3/4 to Full $10 Additional characters for 3/4 to full +$3 (-3 for RPC people) Color - Prismacolor Pencils, minimal marker touch-ups Bust $15 3/4 to Full $18 Additional characters for 3/4 to full +$4 (-4 for RPC people) Color - Prismacolor Markers, minimal pencil touch-ups Bust $17 3/4 to Full $20 Additional characters for 3/4 to full +$4 (-5 for RPC people) and shipping is +1. Once ARR is out, I'll likely accept gil and I'm always up for art trades of any kind. Gift arts are random. All the specifics of how I do art and so on are here This isn't FFXIV-related but I'm so proud of it that I post it anyway. Since I'm still waiting on payment for the commission, I haven't uploaded this to my dA gallery yet. (I referenced MahmudAsrar on dA's work for the background, but I didn't do nearly as well as him.) This is a inked picture of a Draenei (Warcraft) that I did for my friend of her D/Shaman Alphasis. This is an original character commission of an 'Elf/Demon' named Rashieka. She came out looking very elfy, but this is an example of how I did red-hair (with color pencils) before figuring out how to do it with markers. There're some issues with the chair-leg placement and how short she looks-- but I see them now. Must avoid them in future. This is another ink of the Miqo'te I'd intended to roll before I came up with my Roe. If anyone wants to use this for their character, just tell me and you can go ahead with it. We might even be able to arrange some color, or you can color it yourself. I'd like to see the finished product if you do. This next one is a MATURE ('tasteful' nudity) and also unfinished representation of Azeyma the Warden. I decided I'll redo her in the future and give her lighter hair since she's a goddess of the sun. Also, this style was heavily influence by Yoshitaka Amano's style. Here is a picture that I posted below that I don't know if anyone's noticed of Siobhain as a youth. 10 Freebie Sketches - If you'd like your picture, of the ten slots below, colored it will only be $9 via paypal, 900 points on dA or free for an art trade. I love art trades. I don't get many. 1. Teveriel (Paid color upgrade soon) 2. Aysun (Took roughly six hours) Sorry the skin came out a little darker than intended. 3. Mtoto (Art Trade upgrade-- complete in 2.5 hours) It's meant to be looking down at her but I think I need to work on how angles effect coloring/shading a bit more. Also, I couldn't find her eye color on the wiki! So I zoomed up real close on the concept pic that Mtoto did and I was pretty sure it's brown. Apologies if I was wrong. 4. Moltove (Took roughly two and a half hours) You gave me the option of weapons but I was afraid it was going to tack on another hour or two to what I'd done so far. 5. Ravyne (Complete in over five hours-- the pose was killing me.) 6. Deidre (Complete in 3 hours) I gave her stockings, although I'm not 100% on whether stockings exist in Eorzea. I assume they do. 7. Eva (Complete in roughly 6 hours/Trade upgrade) Not sure why but this picture took me forever to conceptualize. I love the character design but for some reason I feel like I messed it up by not making her 'grey'-er or super elegant. I guess the modified White Mage outfit just makes her a bit blockier than I like. If Eva doesn't like it, I suppose I will simply has to does it again. >.< Otherwise I really like the clothes and everything. Must buy more blues and purples. 8. Nahu (Completed in roughly 50 minutes) Did this one as a sketch-- if anyone notices, I didn't draw the gloves (because if I had, then wiping off his hands wouldn'ta made much sense. Unless he's wiping off hand-sweat. O_O) 9. Xenedra (Complete in more hours than I want to admit for some reason!) Art trade for Xenedra of Xen and Endemerrin being cuddly and her being a ninja-cat with his goggles. That is her hand up there, not his. Both his hands are located a few mere inches above her booty. Hope they like it. 10. Gerik (Complete in roughly 1 1/2 hours) Here he is. I wanted to show him from the back since the other pictures of him that I saw were front shots-- I also wanted to try my hand at the back muscles. I referenced a realistic image of the musculature of a man from the back but I'm not entirely sure I got the skin on there perfectly. Still, I really liked how it came out and hope Gerik does too. --- Now that I've completed the ten pieces I wanted to do, I'll still be accepting commissions on dA and here, as well as art trades. Just PM me for/with details. Commissions: OPEN Art Trades: OPEN In Progress: Teveriel- Ink and Color Finished the Teveriel picture. As I mentioned on my dA page where I uploaded it, I read platinum blonde and colored it the platinum blonde I imagine (aka Draco Malfoy blonde) and when I looked at the tiny signature of Teveriel, it looks like it's far more silver. I apologize if it was meant to be silver. Q_Q Nahue- Ink and Color Finished the Nahue picture. The skin might be look a bit too dark because I gave it the pure white shine that I stopped using a while ago. I like the result though, and how Nahu does too. Vee- Ink and Color This is the inked version I've done so far. Got to apply colors. Her nose will be furry along the bridge and dark underneath as per Vee's exacting specifications. <3 And colored! Shippu- Complete Ink and Color. Shawnzy's Shippuu with his fur shrug. I was getting tired of the solid gray background so I reverted back to my thick-outlines with some color about the edges. --- Random Pieces A picture of Siobhain as a child, moments before beating three children within inches of their lives. I intend to ink and color this one day when I feel so inclined, and after some critiques I've gotten already, I think that some proper coloring and shading and extra detail will make the wall look more like a stone wall and less geometrical. I also think I'll be adjusting the lines into more of a brick pattern than they are right now. I'll be uploading things as I finish them. Thanks for looking, comments are welcome and criticism is appreciated.

I know joo. I do talk a lot about the RPC now. Like a creeeeepy fangirl.

*accepts the drooly license* ... Hawt.

It's appreciated nonetheless. At least you didn't say somethin' like... 'NO! NO! Your creative license are revoked!'

'lo again everyone. I've been debating on this for a day or so and I've finally decided I'm going to try to pose this proposition/plea/request and see what happens. The worst would be a cold, lonely thread-- which isn't terrible at all. So, I've mentioned elsewhere that I was more or less enlisted to help start a guild/FC/linkshell (going to call it a guild) for FFXIV: ARR. I'd played FFXIV briefly, loved everything about it, my computer simply couldn't survive and soon died and so when I was asked I was pretty excited by the prospect. I've been offered help if I have any questions from RPC members, which I greatly appreciate, however it's difficult to ask someone to help you create a guild and it's equally difficult to help someone create a guild when you're not intending to be part of it. So, basically, I'm looking for either someone who just loves to flesh out concepts for guilds or someone who would like to join a guild -and- help flesh it out. I should give some information about what we have so far: (I started to fill out a Linkshell Directory Template, but don't intend to finish/post it until a lot of important things are finished. Like our website...) Concept: The Divine Aegis is a equal part PVE/RP guild. Although we intend to keep the two sections well separated, we will encourage roleplayers to level -and- roleplay together so that they are able to maintain a plausible advancement of skill from low-level novice to end-game artisan and make sure that they are given a stable environment to grow not only as roleplayers but as general players. The intent is a combination Military/Magicka academy (to be developed into a wandering militia of sorts) with a Neutral Good alignment (Which does not mean all player characters must be Neutral Good-- any form of Good or Neutral alignment that does not hinder the purpose of aiding others and working together is acceptable). The entire theme of unity, loyalty, faith, and courage are based off twelve basic tenants which in turn are based off of the Twelve, themselves. Religious faith is not so much a necessity as it is a fuel in this case, and though we welcome those who may have lost touch with their patrons to learn and become part of our fraternity, we will use such tenants as metaphors that directly correlate into our (in character) code of conduct. All people of all specialties, even those that are not directly considered war-based (such as weavers or leather workers) have a place in this guild as well. As we intend to grow this guild into a mobile militia bent on protecting Eorzeans from danger, becoming self-sufficient as a community as well as individuals is paramount to our cause. In short if you: -Want structure and stability -Aim to protect or defend others regardless of financial gain -Want to become a diplomat and help create alliances between the guilds of Eorzea -Wish to expand your knowledge of herb, magick, or religious lore -Preserve skills and knowledge through the coming chaos -Wish to learn how to better hone your chosen skills (with in-character substance and development) -Wish to share your knowledge with others in organized groups both inside and outside the Divine Aegis or simply -Want a safe place to practice your faith in the Twelve There is a place for you among us. (It might not be very visible but I referenced a bit from the Spartans in creating this) Endgame: We intend to help players learn the game mechanics as well as roleplaying skills. Given that this is a PVE/RP guild, we are intent on helping roleplayers who desire to reach endgame do so, and giving them all the opportunity to experience all the available player content in the game. We intend to give roleplayers access to more hardcore PVE'ers who may have skills or knowledge regarding the more advanced aspects of the game. Those who choose not to engage in endgame content will not be forced, though it will be encouraged to try and promote unity within the guild of both roleplaying and pve'ing members. (It'll be an RP/PVE guild-- which doesn't mean you HAVE to PVE, nor does it mean it will be watered down by PVE. What it means is that RP'ers who are leveling or want help with quests or to get gear will -have- access to help and PVE'ers who want to learn to RP will have people capable of helping them. For the most part, as the RP officer (to be) I am completely uninvolved in anything dealing with PVE/Raiding/so on and the PVE officer intends to stay very much out of RP matters. We will also be practicing a rule of 'Just because you have an officer rank does not necessarily mean you have in-character status.', which I think is self-explanatory.) Rule Summary: In character we'll follow twelve basic tenants: - Do not seek arms where words may settle. (Thaliak the Scholar) - Judge not with your eyes but with a clear heart. (Menphina the Lover) - Always seek knowledge as it is the keenest of blades, the strongest of shields, and the fairest of scales. (Azeyma the Warden) - Wander far from comfort, fearing neither boundaries nor prejudice. (Oschon the Wanderer) - Aspire not to selfishly settle in the world left to us by our forebears; build wonders and preserve beauty for our successors. (Byregot the Builder) - Take time to plan even the shortest of journeys with eyes ahead and mind on the horizon. (Llymlaen the Navigator) - Learn well your chosen crafts with intent to thrive as one, not subsist alone. (Nald'thal the Trader) - Leave no land or people bespoiled so long as you've the strength to till and sow. (Nophica the Matron) - Although our destinations in life may never be clear, aspire to take the highest road, even if the path is a lonesome one. (Nymeia the Spinner) - Prey ruthlessly upon evil, both in form and in fear, leaving none in your wake. (Rhalgr the Destroyer) -Against the most hopeless of circumstances, fight with faith, rigorous to the end. (Halone the Fury) - The time invested in change is time saved when change arises. (Althyk the Keeper) So there it is. My biggest problem is that, even though I've done by best to come up with this, I am almost incapable of whittling down my point. With the concept of the guild, this is particularly difficult and I'm finding it hard to come up with a lot of things like realistic in-game goals, individual tasks, etc. I've already discussed with the leader-to-be (G'erard) that I could use some help and he agreed that we should try to find someone. If anyone's interested in being part of a Neutral Good guild and helping us work things out, we could really use a vice officer or just a friendly person with good ideas. P.S. I've discussed with Miss Eva right after joining about how our planning to have a Twelve-based guild wasn't intended to be stepping on her toes and I hope the concept is different enough that it still does not. And feel free to tell me if you do or don't like the concept so far and why, please. If I end up continuing to do this the way I have so far, I could still use a little external input.

Eyepatches and pinwheels; Dood, undead robot!
YesGood replied to John Spiegel's topic in Welcome Desk
Hello! You've been here longer than I have I like the name Spiegel, it always reminds me of Spike, even when it's not intended. The resilience also does. Curious: Did you ICly move from XI to XIV? I never played XI so I'm not entirely sure of the differences between it and XIV. And, welcome! -
I. Basic Info Characters: Siobhain Surtsthalwyn Primary character: (No alts intended.) Linkshells: The Grindstone Primary RP linkshell: See above ^ II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Medium-Heavy. From my perspective, everything I'll be doing will be to the benefit of my roleplaying experience, including leveling, crafting, and PVE'ing. That being said, any time I dedicate to that might detract from my overall roleplaying time at first, but once the majority of the 'work' is finished, I'll be focusing all my time into maintenance and social roleplay. Views on RP combat and injuries: I accept combat, duels, etc. I used to dislike text-based combat, even with friends of mine, as it generally takes a very long time and many individuals (including myself) tend to subconsciously resort to self-preservation, no matter what outcome was decided before the duel. I find that I enjoy it now. Enough, at least, to start an LS about it. I consider combat a real aspect of the game when the environment is perceived as a world and just like in reality, such bouts should have circumstances and sometimes less than favorable repercussions. Because of that and my general choice of character personalities (neutral/good), I won't openly -look- for random fights but will be inclined to accept if challenged. As far as wounds and maiming goes, if my character become wounded, I will accept those wounds for the length of the duel, seek healing afterwards, and likely obtain scars in the process. Losing an eye or an ear chunk is merely a hazard of battle and I would accept such wounds if they are achieved, bearing in mind that anyone in that world with those dangers would likely take precautions (i.e. a helmet). I will also accept loss of limbs-- however, I feel inclined to mention that if such a predicament were to arise where a limb would be lost, I would expect it would be after my character is prone and vulnerable following the duel itself. Death is an iffy-subject in this game. I've read that the general opinion of FFXIV players is that, since you 'faint' in the game rather than 'die', that fainting would be the result of losing a duel. Though realistically, I don't see how that will prevent a death strike, I will follow that general belief and assume my character is fainted and a death strike won't be accepted unless expressly discussed OOCly before or after the fight. To summarize: Duels: Text based or /roll Wounds/Permanent damage: Yes Fainting: Yes Death: Circumstantial Views on IC romance: When handled maturely romantic relationships can add a lot of flavor to the delicious meal which is roleplay. That said, I am open to the idea of romantic relationships. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): Love it. Got Klarimel from this~ <33 Views on lore: I do my best to delve deeply into the lore of any series I intend to roleplay in or about. While I strive to learn all that I can and continue to learn about the nuances of the world and peoples that will concern my character, I know that I sometimes miss chunks of important story line and am usually happy to have such things brought to my attention (as quickly as possible so I dun look like a huuuuge newb-cake. Q_Q). FFXIV's lore is daunting both because it is widely spaced across set periods of time (which all even have a different names (eras? moons? suns?) and unlike in the real world, the big events don't have anything for me to relate to remember the chronological order of things. Lore is 100% important and I'll do what I can to stay within it. III. Other Info Country: Florida, USA Timezone: Eastern Standard Time Contact info: PMs are definitely best. I check this site far too many times a day, but check my emails once every five months or so.

Yay another Hellsguard Roe! And a male one! I like the concept you have so far and the idea of where he'll be during the whole big mess of Bahamut's face-rolling. I'm new here too, but I say welcome too!

Oh my! I'm sorry, I admit I'm so used to people using the term Feral to describe characters that are peppy. Hrm. Maybe The Tower- Chaos ----- Sudden change ----- Impact ----- Hard times Crisis ----- Revelation ----- Disruption ----- Realizing the truth Disillusion ----- Crash ----- Burst ----- Uncomfortable experience Downfall ----- Ruin ----- Ego blow ----- Explosive transformation to explain why she's grumpy and the impact of the battles she's survived on her personality. Also there's Ace of Swords: The Reaver. Indicates decisive ability. Cutting through confusion. Taking a radical decision or standpoint. The ability to see through deception, and expose it. Five of Cups: A hooded figure with bowed head seems to mourn the 3 cups spilled before him. Behind the cloaked figure stand two cups, upright. The 5 of any suit can be considered difficult. Here it indicates hopes that have been dashed, or mourning over something that is lost. The hooded figure remains unaware of the two cups still standing behindâso the situation is not completely hopeless and The key meanings of the Nine of Wands: Afraid Cautious Defensive Impermanent Security Inner strength Though these are all Minor Arcana.

Aww... I have a Roegadyn and I'd love to be included in this but I'm not sure Althyk suits her. Q_Q It might be like squeezing her into a dress tailored to anyone-not-a-Roe.
