I had a really long response for Shuck on the matter of developers and games versus realism and pointless attributes that make no evolutionary sense such as slit pupils but no reflective tissue and not needing to code those things in anymore than making pupils get bigger in the dark... But mostly, I agree with you. If Miqo'tes are merely meant for fanboys and fangirls that want to play kitty people (and not even furries), then there's no reason to think they're genetically any different. If you're going to acknowledge, however, that cat ears, fur, slit pupils, musculature, and tails must have, if we'll treat them seriously, had some function during their evolution then you might as well acknowledge they closest they'll come to being human outside their mannerisms and ability to think freely is about as close as humans to chimpanzees. Not to say Miqo'tes are -lesser- in any way, but the equivalent differences without the mental obstacles. Again, I do agree with you. I like to play traditional characters when I can, not only because I enjoy learning a lot with one race as a basis, but because I like to support those special snowflakes with their super special snowflake characters. Just because there are a lot of them doesn't mean that more good can't come of them, it's just up to people who -want- to play your proverbial 'mudblood' to play one and not bark up their tree for choosing to do something else. --Sorry, Myxie, I read your post a little too late. -

See, THAT is the answer I was looking for! And THAT should be the focus here. --- I asked that out of sincerity; NOT out of jest. And I got the answer I was looking for in detail. The reason why I couldn't see it prior was because I come from different environments of RP where things are not taken into such detail. Taking the example from WoW that Sio was pointing out with the Kaldorei: I've unfortunately never seen anyone go to such lengths and detail to actually time all of the biological processes right and instead having wolf possessing-female orcs with 11 inch genitalia (This is an actual thing: Click at your own risk ). To those who put that much consideration into what you write: you are awesome. It was mostly my misconception of the RP expectations of this community. That is it. No flame wars. Nada. In fact, I'm mostly pleasantly surprised by the amount of thought going into people making their characters in this respect. It's a nice thing to see and read. Sorry if I got a little excited about it. I just get thoroughly worried when I see things that may (intentionally or otherwise) put other people down when they're giving some thought to something that might come up for -someone- or several someones out there. It happens so much in WoW and that entire community across all the active RP servers has made me a bit gun-shy. Playing Elves, I spend a lot of time having to explain to people as I mention things that I read and add to parts of my character because their character, likely of the same race, has never considered it. Some are really obvious, like the Sin'dorei/Quel'dorei addiction to magic; it's a race-wise addiction, they -need- it to live, they're magical creatures but how many Belf/Helf RPers actually -ever- mention it? Very few in my experience. Similarly, there are many things about Nelfs that's included in the story-quests and such that are small and easily overlooked but should be something fairly normal. Eating live octopus and rice and kimchi-- Nelfs were based, in part, off of aspects of Korean culture and while the last two, rice and kimchi, for Nelfs are common fare, eating live octopus isn't strange. I've met RPers who tell -me- that Nelfs are purely vegetarians, and even one who went so far as to claim that if a Nelf ate any kind of animal product they would get sick and probably die. I digress... I like to have outlines of things and facts, even facts I may never use. I appreciate people who feel the same way and I feel relieved that others who might not can at least appreciate the time some more depthy people put into things than I do. I understand that people sometimes choose to make excuses for their characters' lack of knowledge at times, like they were raised outside their culture or they've gotten amnesia or something, and I can appreciate trying to get involved in RP and learn the lore as you're introduced to it-- this is one of the easiest, most enjoyable ways to go about it because you're learning from other RPers. I just feel that if I've got the time and energy, I might as well do as Myxie did, to a much lesser extent, and start trying to put pieces together so that I can help play a role in the community of someone who is somewhat standard, racially, with traditional beliefs; to reinforce all of the players who choose to be exceptions, as well as to stick with what I like to do, myself. I'm glad to see more for Miqo'tes, I'm just a bit sad that I'm having trouble finding more for Roegadyn. Sorry, there, Velk, and tyvm for being open minded. I did think you were jesting and hadn't realized that you'd never experienced what I have. =3=; -

As 'really into this discussion' as I feel like I'm becoming, I wasn't aware that I was trying to mate with any and every female Miqo'te coming my way. So, I highlighted some words for you to look at on the above post for future reference. Of course by "some" he could have meant "all", and more specifically, "You, Siobhain." Was this really the only thing I've said so far that you can make anything debatable out of? I'll consider myself doing fairly well then. I didn't really feel I needed to express how I was obviously joking and I realize that what he's doing is not-so-discreetly drawing attention to some male Miqo RPers who are 'obviously' (by whoever's definition) only after some cyber fun. That was my mistake. But just as that is a blatant foible, assuming you know what another person is doing just because you're interpreting their actions, my humor is a parody of that. I'm sorry if that wasn't clear enough, but you seem to have the teeth out anyway. Sylvari in GW2 are trees that look like people. Elves, Orcs, Trolls, etc. in Warcraft are humanoids also. Does this define them as being 'human' in nature? No. Sexually, physiologically, they're all supposed to be vastly different. If something is not human but close to human, genetically, then they're still NOT. HUMAN. Therefore we can only relate to the characteristics that we find similar to our own and attempt to justify or understand them using our own understanding of ourselves plus what we see. In truth, we don't know what goes on in a cat's head as it lives its day to day life, we just assume it's not capable of any higher level of thinking or feeling than its most primal instinct allows because it's not us and we're not them. That same condition applies to races in this game. Even 'humans' aren't really human, they're Hyur; Lalafell, Elezen, Roegadyn, and Miqo'te also aren't human by any definition and along with height difference and gender-oriented prestige, there'll very likely be as many biological differences in the individuals of their species as there are differences in their basic skeletal, muscular, and overall genetic structure. Having a functioning, higher-thinking brain doesn't mean everyone uses it the same way, we see that in different human societies so why is it so hard to accept that maybe, just maybe, the different races have different outlooks on what is normal versus what is abnormal for them rather than what is normal versus what is abnormal for the roleplayer? I have little to no interest in anyone's opinions of real life sex or the amount you've had or not had and thus how much you want in game or how one might feel the need to posture and act like a big boy or girl at the mention of ERP by putting anything that might vaguely be related to it down as hard as they can manage. All I see here from nay-sayers is 'It's wrong, it's wrong, not because I have facts to disprove it but because you don't have every single detail worked out and SE just isn't going to give it to you'. Hence it's a theory, not a law. She's not forcing it down your throat, she's offering something that could potentially be legitimate. And on the matter of rep-- Myxie pointed out rep as an indicator, rather than just counting up posts over nine or ten pages, that people appreciate the consideration she's given this topic and the brain food it offers. Putting it down doesn't erase it, doesn't make those people ignorant or stupid or naive, and doesn't make you look any smarter by getting in fights over the impact of numbers. They -don't- account for everything by a long shot, plenty of people probably haven't read this thread and still more would probably at least enjoy her post before this mess started. I'm personally tired of hypocrisy, as much of a hypocrite as I can be at times. I don't like meeting someone new who's afraid of doing something or not doing something because a bunch of people they don't know or respect said that it's 'overdone' or it's 'meta-gaming' or that they'll be a mary-sue because of it. Warcraft, SWTOR, GW2 are all filled with as many of the most generic, bland characters as outrageously over-powered ones, if there aren't more of the generic kind. I can't tell you how many individuals in Silvermoon City alone have 'Looks like your average Sin'dorei' or 'Troll' or 'Orc' or 'Tauren' or 'Forsaken' written in their MRPs, and those that don't, seem compelled to fill in a paragraph-long OOC disclaimer of WHY they chose to make their character a little prettier than 'average'. It's stifling creativity. Just because some people don't want to think a bit more on the potential differences instead of just assuming all races are meatier, taller, shorter, child-like versions of our own doesn't give anyone the right to sit in here and try to convince others how wrong they are for taking two minutes out of their day to apply some critical thinking skills. You -don't- and may -never- know if a Miqo'te has scent glands or goes into heat, humans don't to the extent of felines, but we also don't have enhanced vision, hearing, or smell which Miqo's might. Those little things that you want to say 'take them off and they look human' makes them -inhuman- and that's the point you should be focusing on. How are they -different-? How can they be more -interesting- than humans with a catgirl cosplay fetish? --- Also, on the matter of someone thinking someone is advocating the idea of an entire species inbreeding-- Again... What does it take to inbreed? Two members that are related breeding together? Yes. I'm probably related to some guy whose great great great great grandmother or father was the brother or sister of my own so if we get together are we inbreeding? Technically. This is obviously -not- what you mean because chances are you've got some inbreeding in your history, it had a good chance to happen somewhere back in your bloodline with only religion or society to deem whether or not it was acceptable. The reason that inbreeding is relegated in most communities and has been for so long is because there -is- an increasing potential as direct relatives breed that there may be some genetic mutations or weaknesses in their offspring. Notice: If a father and his child were to have a child -together- there's a good chance the baby would be healthy. It happens with animals all the time, and as you pointed out, it takes several generations of DIRECTLY related inbreeding for the percentage chance of anomalies occurring to rise enough to guarantee you a strange, inbred baby. If one male Miqo'te has several female Miqo'te mates, who bear him offspring-- and we see this in the animal kingdom with wolf packs, lion prides, etc. as well as human cultures that accept polygamy, the female children usually are either married off to other groups, or in the case of animals, wander off to join other prides while the male children remain to maintain the blood line. Doing this lessens the chance of inbreeding by creating diversity in the genetic pool, virtually guaranteeing that no immediate relatives will be inter-breeding anytime soon. So, no, I don't see this system as helping out those incest-lovers. Sorry, guys. -

As a Miqo'te roleplayer I'm inclined to agree. Why is this there such a huge focus on this? It's bordering creepy, in my most humble of opinions. Yeah, 'creepy' sums it up rather nicely. I'm not going to point fingers but it's no coincidence that some of the folk getting really into this discussion are the same role-players trying to mate with any and every female miqo'te comes their way. One of my close friends has already given up trying to role-play a miqo'te because not one, but three different 'nunh' characters sent her messages asking if she wanted to bed them. Perhaps it's unfair of me to stereotype but I'm beginning to think the majority of 'nunh' role-players are simply embracing the role purely to get their rocks off. Like it or not, this is the sort of thing that needs to be addressed early on before it festers and ends up driving a wedge between various groups within the community. There's a time and a place for ERP and that is between two consenting and mature partners in private chat channels, not hanging around Costa del Sol whispering passing players asking if they want to be impregnated. As 'really into this discussion' as I feel like I'm becoming, I wasn't aware that I was trying to mate with any and every female Miqo'te coming my way. Ladies, are any of you interested in taking up with a red-skinned lady-Roe? We outnumber our men like three-to-one anyway. :love: Seriously, though, your close friend shouldn't let others and their ERP desires dictate what she wants to do with her own character. I don't avoid leaving my house every day just because people like to tell me how to live my life at Wal-mart. Terrible example, but, if she truly loves the character and she's original, then what's it matter what guys are doing? Three just isn't a big enough number. Thirty or three hundred over the span of a couple months with no other decent RPers coming around might be understandable, but to each their own-- I just find it hard to think of a Miqo that hasn't been thought of yet. -

From playing WoW, I found two things kind of annoying about Elves and lifespans. Gestational periods and the rate of growth. I mean, Elfquest bothered to mention that their elves had 'lovemates' and 'lifemates' and that played a fairly large role in their mentality towards their own people as well as non-Elves. In Warcraft Kaldorei (Night Elves) and Quel'dorei have two very different lifespans which is usually just connected to the end of their immortality with the death of the original World Tree. But there -are- new Kaldorei being born, you see the little babies around the World, so just how long do they remain babies? Do they age rapidly, like a human, to around twenty or twenty-five and start slowing down for a couple hundred years? Do they age slowly, taking until their hundred and forty-fifth years (for Nelfs, 110 for Helfs/Belfs, I think) to reach physical maturity as well as some 'coming of age' ceremony? How long are they pregnant? I mean, plenty of roleplayers love to have their characters have babies and as it's usually a natural part of any living species' lifelong aspiration to at some point reproduce and propagate their species. Are you going to be pregnant for decades or years or months or weeks? Who knows? Blizzard doesn't. So yes, technically, it's open to interpretation, but when you have five pregnant Belfs and they're all having babies at remarkably different paces, you sort of long for something a bit more substantial to go off of so that it feels more like a fantasy world and less like a bunch of inconsistent fanfictions written all in the same setting. Biological and cultural situations for races should have 'norms' in a series and they can't all be taken from human physiology because it doesn't always make a lot of sense. Writers for games don't always take the time to write it all up, likely because 80% of their player base just doesn't care about anything other than the mechanics and their personal storyline in the game. Individuals are influenced by culture, whether they are 'stereotypical' or 'standard' or they're an exception to the rule of their people. Culture, in turn, is heavily influenced by social/sexual standpoints; a Miqo'te who is used to sharing their men or seeing their mothers or sisters sharing men with other females might approach a relationship differently than a Hyur or a Roegadyn, or anyone else for that matter, expecting it to be something open. Especially with inter-species relationships. Singular romance, in cultures that include polygamy or open-relationships, seems to tend to not be quite as important in the relationship depending on the arrangement, whether it's a social status need or a need to have more behbies thing. This information might not effect everyone, it might only be a theory, but if one Seeker of the Sun Miqo'te thinks having one male and sharing him with a bunch of females is normal and another one doesn't but they're the same basic race, perhaps even from the same area, how does that make any realistic sense? Immersion is disrupted when inconsistencies like that arise. Isn't roleplay about immersion as much as creativity these days? We like our lore and we like to feel involved in it even if we have no way to change or influence what's there. If they didn't want us thinking silly things about Miqo'tes and their breeding habits, they never should've given us a little taste of how different they could be between their two 'factions' as well as how they could be from Hyur. So, in short, in my opinion, the point of it is not only to express some deep thinking, linking what -has- been given together in a way that does appear to make sense like sticking fossilized bones together to figure out how a dinosaur was built, but also to give a potential of what PCs of the race might be used to. Miqo'tes were the only race that were only female, we had both male Highlanders and male Roegadyns before, which would've denoted that females were more numerous. That must have -some- impact on the males as well as females of the species, their culture, and their individual personalities in regards to other PCs they'll meet, even if it's something small like seeing men as being inferior or superior depending on how they were raised to see them until such a time that they realized that other races had their own different cultures to come to terms with. Whether or not any given roleplayer wants or needs that information is superfluous; it might just add a little more 'realism' to someone's play. Many RPers tend to get really antsy and defensive over ERP and so when one thinks about going into detail about breeding habits and 'revolving around sex', ERP seems like it must be the primary motivation behind it. But romances are okay, they're going to happen, and many of us can be as aloof and mature as we want to be about 'not getting involved in romance because it just causes a ton of drama', but we'll probably still do it if only because -not- doing it isn't always in line with the characters we create and drama can start over anything in any environment because... well... people. Taking all that aside, you could still use a theory like this to formulate a previously unexplored or refined detail to your character's potential personality, assuming you played a Miqo, and the way they handle individuals of other races. Also, even if there was no point to it, why would that matter? It's interesting and this person obviously put a lot of thought into it. Isn't that enough reason to share it? Appending this-- @ Velkyron, I'll be playing a Roegadyn as well and if there was a single tidbit of information to go off of to formulate some aspect to my Roe's personality that regards a matter such as this, I'd take it and I'd probably want to take into consideration how it might affect my character's views on the world. Having a limited view from the start allows for expanding horizons. So far I know only that Male Roes were playable before and women weren't which means either 1. Females were rare or 2. Females weren't considered warriors or travelers or 3. Females looked virtually indistinguishable from males which is apparently not the case. There are probably more reasons than those three (having male Roes opposite female Miqos for non-lore reasons not withstanding), but with every extra one I get a little bit more confused. Male-dominated societies, however, are more prominent amongst humans and so there's more to relate to. Women-dominant societies aren't quite as numerous + Miqos are the super race of FFXIV that tons of people want to play, so it's understandable that they went into a teensy bit more depth about them. Personally, I'd prefer for them to flesh it all out so I could treat a race like a living cultural race with their likes, dislikes, and general views instead of basing it so much off of my own knowledge. I don't want to be super emotionally-connected to my character and putting even more of my mind into her mind makes that difficult. @ Uther, Jules, We realize, of course, that SE is a video game company not a table-top roleplaying game writer. This is a game, with mechanics, it has aspects FOR RPers and it's a roleplaying game but it's not 100 percent dedicated to the RP community. In fact, not very much of it is. Yes, it's pretty, yes it's got good races to play, but that's more of the individuals who'll be running the gauntlet for the long-term gameplay than anyone wanting to come in and write stories about it. SEX is normal for species that reproduce and I'd love to know if any of these races are asexual, it's probably important to note if they are. Others might be treating this race obsessively, but I don't think this person's theory is obsessive by any means just because it's depthy. -

I enjoyed reading this. I spent a lot of time worrying about anthropology in college, and this theory doesn't seem to conflict even with human groups made up of a high female/low male population. Monogamy is normal for Westerners and, at times, was inflicted on other cultures rather than allowing them to follow the 'norm'. There was some old area in China, slips my mind which, where women never married and instead took on suitors who would impregnate them and then go about their merry way, leaving the woman with all her male relatives to raise the child, I suppose, in part to avoid too many inbreeding issues. This practice was actually part of their religion, or at least covered in their texts and stories. China actually refused to allow trade to be made with this small society until they agreed to settle up into pairs, so the culture more or less disintegrated as people were forced to change some centuries of cultural reasoning or leave their homes. Also in India, the Middle East, and other parts of Asia and even Europe. Humans, at least, and honestly Miqo'tes can only be related to the modern human understanding of romance and relationships based on their RPers or interpreters personal view unless a lot more information is given. Our species aren't really built to be monogamous by nature, if I understand. Our hormones would normally dictate what we're physically attracted to if our social upbringing and emotions didn't come into play. It's all about genetic diversity; monogamy is a luxury for those with enough of both genders to settle up into single-pair groups and, sometimes, a necessity in terms of the size and breadth of our social groups and environment. Can't just have everyone having everyone all willy-nilly when 'coveting thy neighbor's wife' could easily create conflicts of interest in communities with nobles, aristocrats, or any other form of a caste system. So I appreciate this outline and I would think it would be acceptable as a 'norm' rather than the exception to the rule, but alas, everyone is going to differ in their opinions and I'm not a-playin' a Miqo. I just think, given the setting, exclusive pairings with a 50 female to 1 male ratio would only harm the race overall depending on... what...? Gestational periods and whether or not Miqo's give birth in litters? Lol. -

Wry herro again... My tablet pooped a post-shower Sio, apparently. I guess when all the mess is over I will be finally playing the game now that I have a PC that can likely run it.

She actually has extremely pale blue/lavender eyes. I didn't do red as the red effect in humans seems to most often appear when there's flash photography involved. From what I read, pale blue irises are much more common in human albinos than red or pink.

'Ro! It's been so long since I've greeted someone. Hurray! I'm glad the population is swelling now. I haven't heard of a Miqo-exclusive RP guild yet, but maybe I'm not looking at the directory right. ; Regardless, it's a very interesting idea. Too bad there aren't enough Roes for a Roe-only guild.

Once you figure out a race, the name will come. There are some topics with guidelines for a good, race-appropriate name for your character and you can always ask for help as the people here are always friendly. You can also go the route of using non-racially exclusive names and include some reasoning (Raised by Hyur?) in your background. I, personally, try to look for something that isn't already done and do that. The reason isn't to try and fill a niche, so much as the fact that I've already rp'ed so many different types of characters that usually, looking for what already exists helps me flesh out something relatively original for the area. I went with upstanding Pally Roegadyn. Being a paladin is, from what I could tell, pretty beneficial for a Hellsguard Roe, and there weren't many female Roegadyn when I first joined the RPC. There were however, plenty of my first choice and I'd rather not tread on any toes by accidentally making a character very similar to someone else's. But everyone feels differently about this and, thus, deals with it differently. If you want to play a race or class that a lot of others will be doing, then maybe you could just make your personality really interesting and edge in to a racial or class-based LS/FC. I found in WoW that sometimes you can make a colorful character that is very adherent to their culture, or one that is very much outside of their own culture and something of a rebel. Personally, I prefer the first since they're a bit more rare in the RP I've seen in some other games. When there are too many Thalassian-speaking Orcs, and war-paint wearing Blood Elves, things become a bit skewed and throwing something more traditional into the mix is, in itself, colorful. I think I'd like to see more peaceful (not cutesy/silly, no offense to anyone) characters who are Lawful or Neutral Good, and likewise, I'd like to see some straight up Lawful Evils (as opposed to Chaotic Evils, since they're... often prevalent also). But being evil often estranges you from others, because in playing an evil character, you can sometimes, accidentally stray too close to the 'trolling' line, and agitate others. It's a subtle art that I haven't seen done properly in some time, much like a True Good or Lawful Good character who isn't extremely high-browed and belittling of others (the world of the true paladins had become something of a stereotype synonymous with characters who give other characters the impression that they think they're better than them.). Once you can decide on your alignment and race, you can start thinking about what class best suits their purposes in RP, and move on into fleshing them out and figuring out why they are who they are now.

I wish there were more RP to do with her, since I haven't really gotten to go out and spread her wings. She's built to be almost 100 percent social. And albino! I'm glad I get so much feedback from you guys. Makes me keep on going. I was worried the hair was too rough and I haven't worked up the nerve to really try doing harder lines in the hair and what not. I actually blobbed on colors for the hair and smudged like crazy, blobbed more color, then selected the whole thing and applied an outline. I'm interested to try CG coloring someone with a non-albino skin color-- she looks really pink, I've been told, for an undead albino but... yanno... shading. >.< My excuse, I'm sticking to it.

Seems to be the general feeling, that it will be good, though no one is certain what the aspects will be. Apparently there is only one server? I'm still trying to wrap my head around that, I just imagine it collapsing under the weight of everyone who would be spread throughout numerous servers on one. Even Maplestory had different servers. For right now, in Acheron, we've been roleplaying vampire characters. We've got a guest thread for roleplay (but honestly, I'm suffering a lack of diversity) just because the population is so small. It seems that people think they're selling their soul for a game and just because they don't know the release date--? Well, I think I understand the mentality. Not wanting to set anything in concrete until you know you even want to play. I, for one, am not that considerate. I just like roleplaying when it doesn't end inexplicably.

Got a new piece finished for Vee of her boyfriend's character. The original version with white hair can be found on my DA, but Ravyne touched up the hair and fur to correct it, coloring them black. Miscommunication is poooooooooop.

Thank you, Aysun and Rhostel. I guess next time I should say something before blipping off the map. A lot of the things people have brought up here have been topics of discussion for the group I'm intending to play with. I was originally too worried the game may never even launch-- I've seen how much effort can go into one only to have it implode at EA. They weren't going to be great games, but it was still a pretty big disappointment, especially for the people who worked on them. With no set release date and no RP for me to do otherwise, as I've pretty much concluded the background RP for Siobhain and the Divine Aegis, I've been looking forward to the roleplay with Acheron, and even if the game doesn't launch as soon as anyone hopes, that should keep me entertained. The next thing is the werewolves. I like them a lot too, in fact, I think I only like Gangrels because they can shapeshift at the latter levels of the Protean ability. Something about shapeshifting makes me happy-- but in response to Shippuu, I was under the impression that werewolves were sort of unofficial protectors of humans? Not really going out and protecting them super hero style but just advocating them and hating the vampires for several reasons, amongst which, human-hurting is prevalent. Being gross and undead, probably another. Either way, the subtle social stuff isn't for everyone I guess. Not even people who -want- to play kindred. We've been discussing permadeath and our feelings on it. If any of you have read my directory thing (it's pretty boring and I don't suggest it) then you might know that I more or less support permadeath in roleplay, with reasoning. I don't like trolls to be able to kill me for the sake of doing it under the 'guise' of roleplay. Also, I know permadeath as an in game mechanic has aaaaaaaall kinds of terribly things appended to it, which scares me a little, but I suppose I'll roll with it without too much complaining unless it's unrestricted and I literally get killed every time I log on with a new character. In a game that's meant to include social stories and thus, assumably roleplay, I don't see permadeath being a very popular option. Tabletop or MMO, roleplayers don't like the idea of dying and I imagine a lot of the people who will want to play WoDO will be one of those two types of people, hardcore EVE players, or, if there's some similar economy system, people who want to make money. Hopefully not the last. With a lack of real PVE from what I've heard, and so many people with doubts about how PVP will work, I can only hope there'll be a large body of roleplayers. I'm also reasoning that they can't call it World of Darkness and only include vampires. If they don't put more races/factions/clans in before the game launch than your vanilla Camarilla, then they'll very likely add them in later, possibly as expansions like in WoW, or just in patches.

So, I've been gone for about two weeks. Sorry about that. v.v; I'm a terrible person buuuut I'm sure my absence wasn't too missed. I do have some art things to finish, sorry 'bout that. Anyhew, this is a player of Roleplayers (and very good ones from what I've seen). Since there's no fear as of now that FFXIV: ARR will be coming out in due course, I was wondering if anyone else was interested in the World of Darkness Online game that's coming out. For those that don't know, World of Darkness was/is a tabletop game (various table top games, actually) from a company called White Wolf that involves vampires, werewolves, changelings, mages, all kinds of great things. I like it because it gets really specific about scenarios I've always wondered about like: 'What happens if a vampire bites a werewolf?'. Abominations. Abominations are what happens. So the people who made EVE are working on a World of Darkness Online game. There's some information here http://www.wodnews.net/ if anyone is interested-- but for now, I was going to suggest that if anyone is, I recently joined a guild called Acheron which is a WoDO chapter for a rather strong community known as Legend-Gaming. If anyone intends to play WoDO, you might look into it, here http://www.legend-gaming.net/acheron/ . For now they're set on being a RP PVP guild post launch (doesn't mean PVP is mandatory at all or even encouraged in regards to RP) so if any RP or PVPer is looking for information or a group of tight-knit, cool people to join up with, the option is there. Mostly, I'd like to see more people's feelings about the idea of 'real' vampire MMO set in a modern, realistic setting. So if you have any opinions about it, I'd like to hear them~.

Siobhain should be at stable mid-to-high class in regards to income. Given that she's rather frugal by nature and subsisted off her teacher for the better part of her life, she was fairly well off leaving Ul'dah. With the income she accumulated from her 'practice' in the arenas, and the odd jobs she did to build repoire during her training to become a paladin, as well as her inheritance from her teacher after he died, Sio's had quite a bit by way of funds before she even began her blacksmithing work. However a large portion of this wealth, as it were, will be invested in the linkshell that she and a number of others are putting together. After all is said and done, maintaining her blacksmithing work and the odd leve job, she'll probably still be at a comfortable middle class.

You are dedicated! Seven years in one game is a super long time. At least to me. I felt the same way about FFXIV when I first started-- but I had some cool goggles and those kept me entertained until my pc collapsed under the weight of the game. Welcome here and I look forward to seeing your character when you get one started~

I think I'd be really interested to see that. It sounds like it'd be a large undertaking though-- maybe if you didn't want to do the whole thing you could write up some excerpts as interesting facts that people could use?

Aw, shame-writhing is no fun. Unfortunately, weight is a bit harder to calculate reliably simply because there are gaps in our knowledge about character mass. But we can still use some awkward math to figure out some ranges based on height, armed with a bit of BMI. Which is a terrible indicator in general, but it can work out well enough for these purposes. A normal healthy adult is considered by the CDC to be someone with a BMI between 18.5 and 24.9. The lower end is skinnier, the higher end is fitter or more muscular. (Or heavier and softer, depending on taste.) The formula used is: [align=center]weight in pounds / ( height in inches ^ 2) X 703 = BMI[/align] Except we don't want to find BMI, we want to work backwards from it. So let's just adjust this equation a little bit for what we actually want: [align=center](BMI / 703) * height ^ 2 = weight[/align] So. Let's figure this out with an average muscular Roegadyn woman with a BMI of 23 (fairly bulky) and a height of 7' (tall side of average). 7' is, of course, 84". We plug all that in and... [align=center](23/703) * 84^2 = 231[/align] So she'd be around 231 ponz, which certainly sounds reasonable for a tall and muscular woman. It's not perfect, but it's a worthy kludge without more hard data. Edit: I managed to misspell "writhing," so good work getting math right when you're a writer. Derp me. Thank you so much!
