  1. Yep, I was in Mog House. Probably saw you around there then.
  2. Yes, Goldenmyst, thanks! Sad to hear they disbanded. It was a good group. Edit: Oh...lol. There it is in my signature! I'm clearly blind. >.>
  3. Thanks! I'm still trying to decide if I want to go with Male Mi'qote for my new main or if I want to restart Emelin there in my sig. Then again, I certainly have plenty of time to decide. I may have to check out any thread RPs that pop up around here. >.>
  4. Hello! Used to play FFXIV back when it first launched and was part of the RP community then. Not sure if anyone remembers me, but I played Emelin Locke. I don't recall what the LS was called, but I was in one that centered around an airship crew. Had some fun times in the game and was on and off of it for a while. I've been keeping an eye on things again ever since they announced A Realm Reborn and am looking forward to seeing how it goes. I used to play FFXI as well (Liarin on Ragnarok -- I was part of Threads of Fate if anyone from that LS is floating around here, but that was years and years ago. I stopped playing around the time ToAU came out. And I still toy with the idea of diving back into XI then, especially if I could find people to play/roleplay with. At least until XIV comes out. I'm a long time roleplayer, though mostly through forum-based stuff. I love to RP in any MMO I play though. Anyhow, glad to be back here again and looking forward to seeing the start of a new game with you all!
  5. Thanks, I shall do so. Looking forward to getting home from work today so that I can play again.
  6. Thanks! I've already started leveling a bit, and I'll definitely be asking for the Intermission LS.
  7. Hello! I don't know if anyone remembers me, but I'd been playing for a few months at launch time, along with some of the betas. I played Emelin Locke, who I am now returning with (though I restarted her last night ). I've been curious to see what has been up with FFXIV, so with no other p2p MMO having my attention at the moment, I reactivated my subscription to this one. And man, I was honestly quite surprised to see that this place seems pretty active. I'm probably gonna be taking her a white mage or black mage route, but I'm looking forward to joining up again. I'll be browsing around and looking for an LS and stuff. Um, I've got a long history of roleplaying. I've been RPing for around 15 or 16 years now. I mostly RP through play-by-post and run my own modern fantasy forum. But I always try and roleplay in any MMO I play. I RPed the most in FFXI (Liarin with Threads of Fate on Ragnarok), but also in Lotro (Rhienna), Aion (Aavalis on the Elyos side), and a bit in most other MMOs. But yes, I'm looking forward to running into people again.
  8. I'm hopeful that I'll be able to bring Emelin to this.
  9. Aaaw, I got my schedule for the week and I'll be working.
  10. When it comes to sticking with lore, I find myself at something of a halfway point. I'm a big fan of following lore, but I'm also a fan of working creatively within the lore. Basically, I usually won't blink at somebody's creation as long as it does not go against something that is explicitly known to be true in the world. But I believe providing some wiggle room really lets you stretch your creativity and expand on what the game may never give us. Of course, there's always the awkward question of what happens to your unique and creative idea when official lore is revealed that contradicts it. That, however, is something that could probably be addressed on a case by case basis. I roleplayed in Lord of the Rings Online, and as much as I enjoyed some of the RP community there, I personally felt rather intimidated and trapped within -- not the lore -- but the standards at which people held the lore. At times it felt as if there was no wiggle room, because if it was not explicitly stated, then therefore it could not exist. At least that's what it felt like many of the hardcore community seemed to believe and dictate at times. All in all, it was a rather intimidating experience, especially whenever I found myself wondering if a little bit of creativity within how I saw the lore would have people looking down their nose at me. Granted, FFXIV have nowhere near the amount and depth of lore that Tolkien created, but I would hate to see such a thing happen here as well. Now, as to your idea, I think it sounds absolutely fantastic. I have not seen much in game and had assumed that the Roegadyn in XIV were genderless as they were in XI. I'm assuming that's not the case anymore though. I really need to catch myself up on some of this stuff.
  11. I honestly haven't noticed any bothersome repetitions in my journey. Then again, I'm the type who only spots this sort of thing if I'm actively looking for it, which I tend not to, so.... ^^; Perhaps people are just noticing more of these repetitions because the zone/region maps are just that much bigger then what I've seen elsewhere in MMOs? I mean, in FFXI we had smaller but (for the most part) more unique zones. So far here, I've only seen a few different landscape styles, but they're a whole lot bigger.
  12. I wouldn't worry too much about it. It will likely switch between available and unavailable from time to time. I know we had this problem during beta as well. Sometimes a server would be unavailable for a while before it opened back up again.
  13. My alt is a Duskwight, and at the very beginning, I'm planning to play him as someone who feels rather jaded after all of the racism and stereotyping of his race. Some of which he understands why...but he doesn't agree with it. I would absolutely adore for that to be an ongoing thing for him, but not too many like playing the racist or "bad" character, so I expect he'll grow less jaded rather quickly with all the nice folk around.
  14. Yay, I'm glad this is taking off! But what shall we call it? *ponders*
  15. I'm all for this idea and would not mind handing out linkpearls to interested individuals. The member limit may be something of an issue, but it's better than nothing. Alas, I don't really see SE doing global chat channels, but I still think this could be a helpful tool for those who may not have an active RP LS to turn to. Random in the world RP is great and all, but we have no way of identifying roleplayers without first knowing them by name. Even having something like this could help out in that regard.
  16. What sort of character is she supposed to be? #1 strikes me as someone who has a bit of a downer personality. #2 strikes me as someone who is very innocent and friendly. #3 strikes me as someone who could be a bit promiscuous or mysterious? Though this is probably my least favorite, as I think just those features put together make her look a bit odd. Purely appearance-wise, I think I prefer #2. The markings on her cheeks really make the eyes pop out.
  17. *steals some of your TB* *runs away* *looks at her measly 465gb*
  18. Um, actually I didn't ask you any questions. Besides this current issue, all I had contributed was a compliment. I think you've got me mixed up with someone else. Nor did I ask for "mad specific details". I really don't appreciate you biting my head off. I guess I just don't understand. What's the problem with saying: "Hey, the model isn't mine" or "This was done in poser" in your first post? That way the obviously unintelligent people like me, who had not known such a program existed beforehand, would know better than to mistake what you've done as 100% your own work. I'm sorry, but your response above makes it hard to believe you're not perfectly happy taking credit for work you did not do.
  19. Ah, yeah, some clarification would be appropriate in the future. When I looked at the piece, I had been under the impression that you had modeled and textured the whole thing as well as posed, did lighting, and rendered. It's still nice looking, but I totally had the wrong idea at how much of it was your work.
  20. In response to the above, I basically share the same standpoint. However, I believe that RPing through a canon storyline can be a ton of fun. It is just not something that I would add to my character's personal storyline with the overall RP community. It would be more of an episodic or AU thing that stands alone on the side and has no real impact on my character.
  21. It's something I like the idea of, and I had a trio sort of thing like that going on for a little while in FFXI. We were essentially a static party and leveling specific jobs together, but we tossed in a storyline as well. I imagine this is something that would be handled by the individuals involved. Who knows, they might even have their own linkpearl or a forum or blog or something where they can write out the story as its RPed out. I imagine that sort of thing would be capped at a number of characters, as too many can get unwieldy and makes it harder to find a set time for everyone to play together. But as people want to pull their characters out, they write them out of the "party" portion of the story which then opens up room for new people? That's how I'd deal with that sort of thing anyway.
