First of all, excellent post Teardrop. You've certainly done your homework when it comes to this topic. I can only shed a little light on your questions, though. 1. The only tidbit that SE gives us is 'the founding of Gridania.' It's my belief, through browsing older sites and various wordings of the same paragraph, that the two clans split when the realm's governments were first being founded. I don't know more than that. 2. I'm assuming it's the blurb that was from back in 1.0, when they were referred to as Shaders and Foresters, respectively. If I'm reading the whole paragraph correctly, and from what they kept going into 2.0, the Duskwight despise the shackles of urban life. So they could see the Wildwoods as traitors due to adapting to urban life and coexisting with Hyur. Keep in mind a lot of this information is outdated ( The 1.0 reference being a good one, ) so there may be retcons or conflicting info. http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Elezen#Duskwight_Elezen http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/world/races/elezen

I think this is a great idea, and look forward to see what others have come up with. I don't have anything more to add lore-wise, as what I've been able to find on the internet is up all ready there. I can, however, give a quick recap on Vairemont's background. He was raised among a clan that lived close to the surface, being one of the bandits that gave the rest a bad name. They taught they were just doing what they had to do to survive, something he still believes in. The animosity between the Wildwood and Duskwight is still stoked by them. He leaves after the Calamity, and those five years mellows him somewhat, but he's still very much a prideful, stubborn Duskwight.

As I've made New Leaf my new go-to game until XIV comes out, having friends on it would be grand. 4253-4363-9903

WIKI POLL: Regarding Storyline NPC Pages
Vairemont replied to Deirdre's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
To put my rather hesitant voice forward, I voted no. I see the rp wiki as a place to find information on player characters that you're interested in. That's the main, large portion of it. Lore, major in-game characters and things that add to the overall story and place of Eorzea make up the rest of it. But the main point is - player characters. When I peruse a character's page, I'm interested in that character. Their interests, appearance, personality, and yes, history. That does include non-playable characters like family members, or childhood friends or whomever. But I'm not that invested enough in those secondary characters that I feel they need an entire separate page of their own. I understand that people like to write. That is one the main reasons we roleplay. To write and play these characters. I'm not trying or even suggesting how anyone should write or play, but their comes a time when an outside eye may be overwhelmed by too much information. -
I still love all your artwork. Can't wait to see more of it!

Dotoro, Plainsfolk Lalafell.

Ah! More hellos, always welcome. Vee - We'll let it slide for now, hah! Thanks for the warm welcome. Yssen - Hello, thank you! It is a bit of a party, isn't it?
-
Wow. This is... fantastic! And sad, really made you feel. Well done.
-
Ah! Hello! Yes, more Canadians! This is pleasing to me.
-
My persuasive ways have worked well I see. You'll be a believer in no time.
-
Kaguya - Fabulous and stalkerish. It works. You can join me in my corner. Abaigeal - Another hello to you! Or to Kaguya? Hmm.
-
Hello to you as well Xenedra! If it's all the same, I'll just watch the stars. Thank you, Eva! I can't wait much longer for the game to come out and see you all! (And it's quite all right, it fits rather well doesn't it?)
-
Thank you, Merri! It's certainly good to be here. Everyone's so friendly and helpful, it's great.
-
*waves from his corner* Weffrey - Hello! Yes, and quite friendly too! I'll be sure to ask if I need anything, thank you! Teveriel - Heh, thanks! As I don't have an in-game appearance to go off of yet, I had thought this would be suitable until then. Glad you approve! And I am eagerly awaiting to play with the rest of you, as well!

I. Basic Info Characters: Dotoro Nitoro Primary character:See Above Linkshells:None currently Primary RP linkshell:See Above II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Medium to Heavy. I am always up to role-play, but don't think of myself as in-character all the time. Views on RP combat and injuries: I've seen combat done right and combat done horribly wrong. And it usually differs for every person and conflict. Personally speaking, I won't initiate unless I'm comfortable enough with the other person. My preferred method is emoting, though it is a strenuous and long way to do it. Duels/PvP is also a viable alternative. I won't leave my characters fate to /rolls however. Depending on the level of injury and importance of the fight I am okay with my character taking them. As far as inflicting them, I leave that completely up to the other party. On that same note, death is something I would take quite seriously. I have killed off characters, usually because I am leaving the game. I see healing methods only going so far, and has a scale of difficulty as well. Views on IC romance: I am open to the thought, as it can enrich a good character. However I usually approach it with some caution. Tying yourself to another in this way needs a higher level of trust that they will stick around, and vice-versa. My ideal thought would be a long build up, and a comfortable partnership that doesn't exclude others. One-on-one RP is very enjoyable, but can get stale. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): As above, family is something I would entrust so someone I knew better than a chance passer-by, but am more open to than a romantic one. It also helps enrich both characters and can be very fun and amusing at times. Views on lore: I believe the lore is there for a reason. It's that specific game and has it's own history and rules. It sets the setting and you can only improve by knowing more. I like knowing as much as I can to better my knowledge. I am also fine with the bending of lore. This can be done quite well and can create very unique characters. On the flip-side, if everyone bent the lore they wouldn't be very original, simply the norm. I am against the breaking of it, however. There is plenty there without having to break things. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): All the games previous to this I have role-played in /say or /party chat. Linkshells are a new thing for me, though if they are similar to guild chats I would probably use them for out-of-character chat. This can change once I understand more about them. III. Ah! People! Deirdre - I have done quite a bit of research by myself, but I know I'm no lore guru, so I shall ask if I do have any questions, thank you! New Canada buddies are always welcome! Aysun - My corner is so comfy though! And I shall strive to post on the forums, but you shall certainly see me in-game! I have applied, yes! I eagerly look forward to it. Abaigeal - *waves!* Hello to you too! If I get too lonely I shall come out for awkwardly honest posts and then retreat once more. Gerik - *plays with beads* Hello to you too! Hurrah new friends! Knave - *shares comfy blankets* Hey to you too! :3 Thank you for the welcoming posts! It's good to be here!

Hello all! After stal- err.. lurk- no wait. Browsing the forum and wiki for the past little while I've emerged from my little corner to wave at all you fantastic folk. I will no doubt return to my silent watching again, but now that I have an account I may pop out to add a voice here and there. For anyone interested, or simply bored while waiting for the beta to be released, I'll jot down my little background here. MMORPG Background I started out with WoW. Played from beta to Cataclysm, though I took a few breaks here and there. I didn't start roleplaying in an MMO until just past Burning Crusade, so a couple years into the game. Though WoW was my main, I did play quite a few others. Vanguard, Aion, City of Villains/Heroes, LotRO, GW2, EQ2, and I'm sure I'm missing a few others. All in all a good eight years of experience. I hadn't tried out FFXIV 1.0, but look forward to it's release now! RP Experience Forum roleplay came first, largely made up of Gaia Online. That was, at best, a learning experience. I then evolved into the MMO scene, and haven't looked back since. It's become such a large part of my online experience that I usually put it above anything I may do in-game. While fast paced in-game RP is my forte, I have kept a journal for most of my characters to switch up the pace and I think tends to add more explanation and depth to their actions. Character Ideas/Info As I am new to the Final Fantasy 'verse, I really would love any constructive criticism or suggestions/thoughts. I usually create my characters around my chosen race and class when first delving into a game so as to not make many mistakes, and the personality usually fills them out the most. As you may have noticed from the name, I really love the Lalafell in this series. I've always stuck with the small races in most games. See Gnomes for WoW, Dwarves for LotRO, etc. Anyway, as I haven't played any of the classes/jobs yet, this is open to change but I'm starting with a pugilist/monk. This little monk will have a cheerful and friendly demeanor, with a religious bend to it, possibly leading to fanaticism. To not clump this up too much, I'll post what I have in the Wiki when I can. How did you learn about the coalition? I ran across your Wiki when googling about FFXIV's races and then never really left. What Kind of a Role-player are you aiming to be? Light, Medium, or Heavy? In one word, Medium. To explain more concisely, I plan on role-playing as often as possible. Within cities, out leveling, and inside dungeons if possible! That being said, I also enjoy chatting with others out of character as well. I think the best way to put it is that I'll be a constant potential role-player, who can jump out of OOC whenever RP comes up. Anything from Real Life you're comfortable with sharing? I'm a fairly open person! My actual name's Steve, I'm 22 and live in Canada. I work full-time, and am often online in the early to late afternoons during the weekdays and almost all the time during the weekends. Now then, back to my corner.. :tonberry:
