We are still around. There hasn't been much RP lately due to Stormblood, but we'll be starting a new story arc relatively soon. Recruitment is still strictly invitation-only, so please set up a time to RP with us and get to know us if you're interested in joining.

I wasn't really going to have my Kha be from a sub-tribe. Lore about Kha is still limited, but they seem to be cultural chameleons who live closer to "civilization" than other Xaela tribes. My Kha is wandering around Eorzea at present doing mercenary work, learning new ways to curse, and drinking lots of booze. I'm... not sure that's helpful, lol.

I loved Wilred! Poor baby. I have very bad luck with NPCs. My favorites to date have been Moenbryda and Ysayle... My current fave is Lucia. (Please just let me date that woman, SE. I don't even care about Ala Mhigo - let's turn this into a dating sim.) Also, Alisae is pretty awesome.

hey i want to join but i have no idea who your recruitment officers are my in game character is Mayvah Lymbrial if you need to add me, i have also submitted a Application We are not accepting applications at this time because we are now invitation-only (that needs to be changed on our website - I have let the lead admin know). The only way to join our company at present is to become friends with our members and RP with us. Only after we're had time to get to know you and decide that you're a good fit will you be invited to submit an application. To start the ball rolling, you are welcome to contact an officer (our characters' names are listed in the main post above) and set up some RP with us. We will try to accommodate you, but with Stormblood coming up, most of us will be focusing on PvE for a while.

Yeah, I stopped playing FFXI long before that too, I think. It sounds like it would be a good way to kinda freak out an opponent. I have two RP mains that I tend to play pretty steadily, and then I tend to rotate through my alts depending on which ones I'm feeling most. I'll do an arc with one alt, then let them rest for a while as I focus on another. That seems to work out pretty well. If I end up with an alt that I just never RP, I fantasia them into someone else and try again. But I'm obsessive about creating new characters. It's an addiction. T_T

I love this idea! It's creative and different. I would love to see how you'd describe the puppet-master combat style, because it sounds like fun. I hope I'll get to meet Mokujin on my Mateus alt. (Her name is Sarnai Kha. If you ever see me online, please add me!) And oh honey, if you think 4 characters are a lot, I have 10 chars across three servers. *weeps*

I have retired various alts from time to time, but I've never killed any of them off (so far). I just let them continue their lives, and sometimes I even bring them back as NPCs for various story arcs. As for Solenne, it has already been decided that she will die when she's past her prime, but not yet infirm. She and her husband will go out in a blaze of glory doing something extremely heroic. But since I certainly won't be RPing her for that many years, if I ever fantasia her into another character, I'll just assume that Sol is still out there somewhere kicking ass and being her ice queen self. I don't really see that happening, though. I'll probably be playing Sol for as long as I play this game. Same with Michaux. I'm way too attached to both of them.

Have you even been reading the posts in this thread? A lot of people on Balmung are helping already or have plans to do so when free transfers become a thing. It's not lip service. Time and effort are being put forth, or they soon will be. And as for the other Balmung RPers who want to continue enjoying this game that they pay money for in the community that they have already grown deeply attached to? They don't deserve to be bullied or lectured. They don't actually owe you anything. Your sense of entitlement is truly mind-blowing.

Oh cool! Shows how much attention I've been paying, apparently. Can you tell me where that's mentioned? From the 3.5 quest Griffin, Griffin On the Wall: Other mentions of slipping past Baelsar's Wall come up in the lore book and from Resistance member dialogue: If you wanna know more about the Ala Mhigan Resistance and Baelsar's Wall, you should definitely check out this post on Ala Mhigo. Thank you so much for your help, as always! <3

I want to play a character who has been covertly moving back and forth across the border between Eorzea and Gyr Abania since the end of 2.0, carrying messages between the resistance movements on both sides. Does this seem plausible?

I just have to reply to this because I'm sick of seeing people make this argument. This is an extremely privileged opinion. I've known people who budgeted very, very carefully to be able to afford their monthly sub, and even then, sometimes they had to let it lapse for a month or two when an unexpected expense came up. Eighteen dollars might not seem like much to you, but for some people, it can be the difference between solvency and overdrawing their bank account. Also, making judgments about what kinds of games other people should invest in given their financial situation is presumptuous. If someone enjoys playing FFXIV enough to make room for it in a very tight budget, good for them. They deserve nice things too.

So, at this point everything has been said, but I'm going to ramble on for a while anyway. First, I just want to confirm that exciting things are happening on Mateus. I'm just an outsider looking in right now, but I've already seen a lot of promise in that community. When there's a lull after SB's launch and I'm no longer frantically working on my Balmung characters, I intend to spend more time on my Mateus alt. Having said that, the suggestion that all Balmung RPers should be jumping at the chance to uproot themselves and move to a new server shows a lack of understanding of the depth of our community and the dozens or even hundreds of ties many of us have on our server. I've been playing on Balmung since shortly after HW launched, so I'm not one of the server's old guard. Still, you can meet a lot of people and put down some pretty deep roots in two years. Three members of my immediate family have characters on Balmung. My girlfriend's characters are there. I'm part of the leadership of an RP FC, and I've put a lot of energy, creativity, and tears into it over the past 18 months. Since I don't have a large (or, let's face it, even moderate) network of local friends, my FC is my main social outlet. I log in every day, greet my friends, family, and girlfriend, and feel like I'm at home. Leaving all that behind wouldn't be a quick or simple decision for me. It would feel a bit like deciding to pack up all my belongings and move across state lines. It would impact my life in some rather profound ways. I'm not going to make that decision just because someone thinks it's unfair that I could afford the transfer fee when I first started playing and was able to establish myself on this server. Having said that, I know there are RPers currently on Balmung who are interested in transferring. There are people ready and willing to do the exact thing OP wants, so we should all be cheering them on instead of acting like they don't exist. From what I've seen and heard, the RP community on Balmung is already doing its part in various ways to support a second RP server. Let's stay positive and continue to assist in that effort instead of making unproductive complaints.

Welcome! Most of my characters are on Balmung, but I have one - Sarnai Kha - on Mateus. When you get there, if you'd like to schedule some RP, let me know!

Solenne is an intelligence specialist, freedom fighter, healer, accountant, and venture capitalist. If "shrewd business woman with a savior complex" had been an option, that probably would have fit her best.
