  1. Honestly I've never counted what someone is wearing as lore or not lore. Maybe I'm just selectively seeing. But if I see someone running around with a zeta weapon, I don't comment on how it looks like a legendary mythical sword, and I don't expect or approve of the player who holds it to actually say it is. I also don't see things like Cloud or Lightning's outfits as their outfits. They are just clothes to me. Is that just me? Or is this a whole train of thought about what I'm wearing that I've been completely oblivious to for years?
  2. Just throwing in my 2 cents here Everything looks pretty okay so far, only changes I'd make are: 1) Drop the sky pirate idea, become a normal pirate instead. It'd blend very well with the Maelstrom and could serve as a viable shared experience that other characters you may interact with might have. 2) I wouldn't do the experimentation bit, it's -extremely- cliche in my opinion. Honestly you don't need to work so hard if you want to give him some kind Aether based disease/sickness, you could link it to his pirating. Perhaps he raided a Garlean ship and the raid set something off?
  3. To be honest this doesn't sound like a great idea. Actually it sounds pretty awful. Sure you could -technically- get away with it, but honestly if you want to go that route, I think one of the Allagan clones/replicants are probably better. You could still have them deal with the memory loss, still with the allagan origins, but it'd basically be a machine made of flesh instead of made of metal. It'd be much easier to blend in, and it wouldn't make the character so alien to deal with on the average basis. If you do do it, the trick would be to NOT do it. Don't talk about it, don't tell anyone, don't be obvious. Be extremely subtle, and perhaps reveal it through a planned character event instead of just talking about it casually. This applies for IC and OOC.
  4. I think it would be heavily altered by the -how- of the Keepers around him. How did the head of the family decide he should be raised? How much of his origins did he know growing up? How much of that caused conflict? How did his family deal with it? How did he fit in? Did he ever find a place within Keeper society? How did he explore his position? There's so many questions to ask: 1. Did he ever consider himself different from everyone else? 2. How did he deal with the gender differences in Keeper society? 3. How close was he to his foster siblings? 4. Was he given special accomodations at times? Was he ever considered exempt from the "rules" (such as marriage, warrior/hunter obligations) and if he was, did he resent this? 5. Did his lineage make him stronger in his environment? Or did it ultimately make him weaker? Of mind and/or body? 6. How interested was he in his own blood line? Did he ever take an interest in learning about his own people and their culture? Did he ever buy books or study it? Did he ever long to be a part of that? 7. If he did want to be a part of his own culture, how did his family respond? Were some of them encouraging? Accepting? Tolerant? Or resentful? 8. Does he consider himself a Keeper of the Moon? 9. How does he deal with sleep cycles? If you just keep asking questions like this and writing down the answers, you can learn a whole lot about the character you are trying to make
  5. Honestly, it depends on how the person who does this goes about it. If they create opportunities for interaction, I'm really cool with this method of initiating. However if they are just sitting there in a corner /sighing or playing with their food or something and the only way for me to approach them seems like something my character just wouldn't do, then I get kind of annoyed. Like the more assertive methods, this more passive method to attract RP is still a method to attract RP. You can't just literally sit there emoting how your character is reading quietly in a corner or just staring at others and expect people to RP with you. Make an opportunity for someone else to take advantage of. Things like accidentally ordering 2 drinks, or having more boxes to carry than you have hands, or other situations for other people to jump into. Standing there just makes you look very lazy, like you don't want to put forth the effort to get RP, but you want all of the payoff when someone else goes out of there way for you.
  6. It sounds like you were being too standoffish with them and turned yourself into a threat that they wanted to confront for social points with their friends. For that type of situation, it's always a good idea to use the favor approach first. Don't tell them to stop, don't be forceful, instead make it sound like they are doing you a favor, and if they respond positively, reward them for it and buy the whole table drinks, it will solidify their commitment to help you by calming down, and they'll all have something in common again (the fact that they don't want to give you a hard time) Example: "Hey guys, it's sounds pretty lively over here. I know what's going on here is really not my place, and I hope I'm not interrupting something...but you see that guy over there? He's my boss, and if you continue to be as loud as you were just a minute ago, he's gonna kill me. Could I ask you for a favor to tone it down a few notches? Thanks, you are really saving my hide here. How about I get you all drinks? My treat."
  7. Well, in lieu of no responses, I'm going to simply stop here and continue development on my own. Later.
  8. Thanks, I've got a lot of work to do on the character so it will be some time before she is realized, but a least now I know what's the best character to continue development on EDIT: Started the next phase of development on the character. Just scroll to the third post and answer the two questions if you want to help out. You don't actually need to read the whole 3 posts. http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=13743&pid=218229#pid218229
  9. Sure thing, I'm going to have to sort out the details and things so you'll have to stand-by for a while
  10. Wow, I put this up before I went to sleep and there were actually quite a few votes. I honestly didn't think that mooncat would be as popular as it is, but I suppose I'll have to look at it more seriously now. Thanks to everyone who gave me feedback.
