Hi everyone! Long time no see! Anyway, I have a question related to Bahamut's Coil. Namely, what are the dark matter critters from turn 1? Are they supposed to be wildlife that somehow sneaked into Bahamut's Coil from the outside and then became corrupted by the crystals? Are they manifestations of bahamut's crystal wings? Finally, what do these critters live off of? Do they eat crystals, bathe themselves in the crystal's energy for sustenance, or do they eat each other? Do they even need to eat? Why can that snake divide itself like an amoeba?! AAAAAAAAAH! :frustrated: ... Somebody help me! I can't take much more of this. :dazed: I really want to know, because it seems so unusual considering the location.

Is Gilgamesh more active than Balmung RP wise?
Momoji Momochi replied to Reibees's topic in RP Discussion
I don't know about Gilgamesh, but I've seen people actively RPing in the Lominsa tavern. I even thought about jumping in if it weren't for my character's mid-job crisis of rediscovering his long lost love for shiny armor and battle axes (went almost all out tank due to lack of tanks on server). -
Mine would be best conveyed with a snippet of my character's backstory. In Orrin Morin's effort to uncover whether Dunesfolk in Ul'dah treat plainsfolk any differently than they treat one another, he hurriedly chose what he believed to be a suitable Dunesfolk name before donning a magical disguise. Unfortunately, "Momoji Momochi" is actually two dunesfolk female names put together, as he soon realized to his embarrassment. Even worse, he failed to read the warning that the removal potion for the magical disguise was highly sensitive to aetheric disturbances, which due to a series of events rendered his only method of removing the disguise worthless! So Orrin Morin, now Momoji Momochi, set out on a quest to acquire another removal potion. Through feats of daring, such as constructing a giant sand castle for suitably giant ants, and entertaining a giant buffalo, he finally removed the magical disguise. How that removed a magical disguise is an entirely different story. Unfortunately, his acts of daring had galvanized his name in the public eye, and now people can't stop calling him Momoji Momochi! His plan to solve this predicament? Make himself so famous that by merely announcing that his real name is Orrin Morin, everyone will begin calling him that instead! And so he continues with his adventurers, saving kittens and pouring laxatives into imperial water supplies, the later being a very time consuming effort. Take that, you damn imperials! When you reach the steaming hell known as "the lavatory," tell them Momoji Momochi sent you! Edit: If that isn't the weakness you are looking for, then his kryptonite is chocolate pudding. Delicious, delicious chocolate pudding. He'd call down a meteor for the stuff.

Main Storyline: A Matter of Taste, or RP Etiquette?
Momoji Momochi replied to Gone4everbye's topic in RP Discussion
While I am not RPing at the moment (waiting for vial of fantasia to change to my rp char), I am using a somewhat revised version of events in order to allow me to rp within the context of the events that happen in the story. For instance, my character was involved with a large scale effort to take down Ifrit which included dozens, if not nearly a hundred adventurers as opposed to having personally taken him down. I'm also running with Hydaelyn protecting certain adventurers from tempering so I have some excuse as to why I wasn't turned during the conflict. -
Arcana Machina is something that just came out of my head. Runic Concord?
-
I'll probably start RPing at release, since I need the fantasia elixir to get my character right. I ended up getting the naming conventions wrong for dunes folk and ended up giving my character a female first name. I just can't find any dunes folk names that really stick out, so I decided I'll go with a plainsfolk.

This is a solid 8.5/10 for me. Penelope is both a common name and one that is rarely used anymore. Add Rundall into the mix and I really enjoy the flow. 8-) I suppose I am up: Mars Irvo Pronounced - (Mars Er'voe) Given Name - Named Mars for being born under the fiery red sky of a blood moon. Surname - Abandoned on the steps of a monastery, Mars adopted the name Irvo from his caretaker and father figure, Abbot Irvo. For a visualization, this is him: I'm so sorry, Firnwood! I didn't mean to skip you! By itself it is a fine name, and because it also fits your character's back story I'm giving it a full 10/10.

The Rise and Fall of the White Raven
Momoji Momochi replied to LiadansWhisper's topic in RP Discussion
Only with the way its generals are acting, it will probably end like Alexander the Great's empire. I second a now deceased spy in saying, "are they seriously trying again?!" And I mean that in terms of tring to conquer Eorzea. -
I had to come up with a new name for my my soon to be plainsfolk. What do you all think of the name, Korin Orrin? The first name is Latin in origin and means spear. The second is Gaelic and means pale little green one. Together they end up fitting the naming conventions for plainsfolk, and it is also remarkably similar to a tarutaru NPCs name in ffxi.

My character, Momoji (who will be a plainfolk on release to deal with a naming convention nightmare), is a young plainsfolk hailing from far of La Noscea that came to Ul'dah to study the art of Thaumaturgy at the temple of Nald'Thal. Momoji is a studious little bookworm who intends to become a loremaster of the arcane by studying all known branches of arcana, and then subsequently apply those teachings to the culinary arts. While not much of a writer, he dreams of being the author of a book called "Cooking with Fire I-III: A Thaumaturge's Guide to the Culinary Arts." I had already figured that I'd be leveling thaumaturge when I played the open beta. What I didn't anticipate was enjoying all the disciplines of magic in the game, so I changed up my character's back story to better fit my play style. I even went so far as to have him come from La Noscea instead of Thanalan like I originally planned. But I was only able to do all that because I haven't established my character yet. I'll probably end up playing Scholar, Summoner, Black Mage, and White Mage. As to which will be my focus at end game, that will take some more time to figure out.

I call my carbuncle Mr. Sparkles!

Think German family names, since their first names are heavily German inspired. My closed beta 3 character's name was Heinrich Foust. Even the flame commander's first name is Germanic. Raubahn is actually an altered version of the name Ruben, which means "Raven."

Momoji's eyes go wide, his hands dart to small journal and pencil. "Alcohol - scented - soap!" He exclaims as he scribbles away on a blank page, walking out of the bar. "It cleans AND disinfects! Bartenders everywhere will adore it! And also marmots because they like everything! Yay!" As he reaches the door, he looks up with a thoughtful expression. "Hmm, better not make it a liquid or they'll try to drink it. That would be icky..." He mumbles to himself as the door closes behind him.

I'm not quite sure how to post images yet on the forum besides using the attachments, but here is the character I'll be using as my main, Momoji Momochi. Last name is pending at the moment. I could change it to Momosu, Momoto, or something else using the word Momo up front to keep it within naming conventions.

Momoji most likely smells faintly of spring water and peaches considering he keeps himself very well washed. He carries around soap when he is adventuring. Probably the Hydaelyn equivalent to Irish Spring brand soap. However, he could also end up smelling like a marmot given his habit of playing with small furry animals and pets.

Open Beta & Early Access, Live Letter 8 Discussion
Momoji Momochi replied to Eve Malusion's topic in FFXIV Discussion
One thing I wish they would clarify is whether the free thirty days that came with the original counts as having payed for 30 days sub. Otherwise, I will not be getting a character recustomization and shouldn't bother with my old characters. -
Are there any lady gamers type sites you can advertise on? I'm sure lots of them would be interested in playing a FF mmo. There is a female gamer reddit site, but as I jovially suggested, I'd need to know what aspects of the game, if any, would appeal to them. Also, I gave up graphic design for software engineering, so I think I'll pass on trying to make ads. To be honest, the numbers we have on the survey might be a little bit lower than what we'll see in game, since it is possible that some female gamers might not really consider themselves as such and thus wouldn't regularly visit gaming sites. Edit: Actually, maybe it is due to the old stigma of video games being considered a guy thing? I know it's old, but the demographic for this game is mostly in their 20's, so many of them grew up in the 90's where we did have that stigma.

Hmm, what pet critter from final fantasy would the name Punpun best fit? I'm already going to call my chocobo Chocoboki. I'm thinking a pet mandragora ATM. Yeah, I know it's kinda unrelated. Btw, I love Tralala Trala! 10/10

I give Judeau Thunderclout a 9/10. Sounds fine to me, although the first name doesn't sound quite like the typical highlander name. That is perfectly alright though, as many will diverge slightly given how multicultural Eorzea is. Well, I've got a bunch of variant names for the lalafell I will be playing, but here are three possible names I came up with after quite a bit of thought. Momoji Momochi Momosake Momosuki Momosu Momochi The first one involves a play on words. Momo is Japanese for peach, which is in reference to my Lala's peach blonde hair and peachy skin color. Moji is Japanese for writing and mochi is a Japanese rice cake. The first name refers to his scholarly nature and the last name is a cute moniker. The second name combines Momo with sake, standing for the alcoholic beverage of the same name, and suki which means "love." The name is an overall reference to him being sweet and caring, but also unpredictable. There was one other variant name, "Momosu Momochi", that I came up with due to my character having a love of small, furry rodents from a young age. Mosu is a butchering of the Japanese pronunciation of the English word "mouse." That particular character also has the whisker paint on.

Um... why would any of us care if someone chose to go to Gilgamesh or Balmung? Unless I have some sort of personal relationship with the person in question, I really don't care. I don't even know you... If anything, this entire thread seems like a troll post to me.

It won't matter. Eventually expansion material will render legacy vs non-legacy a moot point. Also, when you're talking about the people who are racing to the top, you are talking about a group of people who don't have the time to RP to begin with. Every waking moment they spend with their character consists of bull rushing content with zero regard for any of the flavor text or lore. Besides, you'll still be riding with a wave of people to the top given the game is brand new regardless of server.

After having taken a few hours away from this and looking over what I wrote, it looks like I ended up letting past experiences (bad ones) get the better of me after reading some stuff on the forums (which I misunderstood for something else). If I were to remake the thread, I would have focused more on the real issue I'm thinking about, which is keeping characters consistent with their own values, and titled the thread accordingly. I'm sure everyone is familiar with the difficulties of immature players who end up trying to push the limits of others or doing crazy stuff for fun rather than role play, and I ended up getting reminded of that stuff and getting set off. Anyway, I apologize for coming off as so opinionated, as this is not how I normally act or think.
