  1. As a note, I would put my vote on Riki's definition and I'd like to add something to the whole mess... One, sorry Dy. I didn't know if my post seemed really forward, but I tend to like pouring water in the glass. If it stays there, it's a good glass, if it wets the carpet, the glass has a hole and needs to be fixed or thrown out. Anyway, in the same way that a court would deal with it (I'll expound, if it seems like first amendment rights were violated and free speech is shot down, it has to go through a test called "Strict Scrutiny of the law" for content-neutrality and viewpoint-discrimination), we should have a test of strict-scrutiny that works exactly the same for every situation whereupon the situation is tested by a small voting body and decided as god-mode or not. It sounds more drawn out than it is, and I mean this more for big "Waa-waa" issues where people begin to get crappy. It works for the Supreme Court of the US and for the ICJ - it should work for us
  2. I vehemently disagree. I constantly go around and make non sequitor claims, and most people are too stupid to put A and B together, and then some guy gets blamed for something he didn't do - etc. If APM points at UG's feet and says they stink, and they don't, the characters around have to make a point to react and go "Eww!" or react and go "Really? I don't smell anything. You, sir, are in violation of Logic!" And then everyone begins to point and laugh at AbsurdlyPowerfulMan's bad attempt at using logical fallacy to insinuate that UnfortunateGuy has smelly feet. APM is then cast aside by Socratic method as his ethos is utterly shattered. In short, if the character doesn't inquire into the fact that UnfortunateGuy is actually very clean and his feet don't stink, it's not godmode. That's just someone making a false claim and getting away with it. And I cite the past two Presidents and their policy claims. If they don't get away with it, it's their credibility that suffers. I cite the past two Presidents and their policy claims. --- EDIT: I should add -- Godmode in my opinion is just a test of logic. If something defies logic then it shouldn't happen. Example: I kill Bob, and he can't fight back. Nanner Nanner Nanner! In reality, Bob would have a chance to fight back. Even if he's got all the facts against him - Bob has no legs or arms and is blind in one eye, and I have a gun - there's still a chance that Bob could get lucky or I could miss. There's thousands of factors. So, the golden rule that I play by is that if it fails a basic logic test, it's probably god-mode.
  3. Knowing square enix, you'll be able to have mounts but you'll have to actually raise it from birth to adulthood for the actual five years that it would take. Five human years. Seriously. I stand by Taru-Taru flag carriers. Although in all seriousness, the breeding thing never appealed to me, though I do hope the have chocobo's. Dude, chocobo's rule. WAAARK!
  4. I think that this was all very concisely summed up by Riki, Keir and Etharian.
  5. I actually have to go with Aguacatin. Luiz Lopez was a close second, but it's too thematic with Knighthood.
  6. I want to tame wild Taru-Taru and ride them around. Or at least utilize them to carry all of my stuff. And a flag. They should carry a flag.
  7. Ironically, so is mine.
  8. Interesting idea. With this Zodiak symbolism, I wonder if they're going more for the pantheon of gods in the Hindu tradition. I could, however, see the elemental signs relating to the Norse and Greek mythological standpoints too. I'm excited to see the portrayal of the Gods, and the creation stories related to them -- I want to draw some nice lines so I can have an idea of how to make characters in terms of real mythos to Eorzean mythos (PS: I vote Norse mythos. Heimdallr kicks butt! And Thor too, of course. I want a Gjallerhorn D:)
  9. I remember when i got my 8800 and I was like WOAH THIS STUFF PLAYS CRYSIS ON ULTRA!!!! I guess Marshall McLuhan had the whole "technological determinism" thing right
  10. Midland Hyur in Limsa Lominsa
  11. With 14, My character will definately be going along with the Goddess of Navigation. I haven't really considered how he would react theologically, but I feel like he would react more supersticiously than religiously or piously. Offering up something to the wind and the water before sailing - etc. As for the actual name of the Goddess, he'd probably curse up a storm with a nice little addition about "Llymlaen's fins!" or what have you. He's generally insulting to everyone, so...
