As said above, Balmung is still going very strong and there are many RP events. Though I have noticed a lot of RP has moved to Kugane, the Quicksand is still populated and Crescent's beach bash was huge. Some players are still playing through expansion content, but the login queues aren't even a thing anymore.

There doesn't appear to be. My friend got disconnected and he got back in immediately. I hope it lasts!

I logged in around 5PM EST and there was a queue of 26 in comparison to the usual 3,000. Here's hoping!

Welcome to the game! Personally, if I was in your position I would keep your main on your current server, but also make another character on Mateus if you feel like you would do well in the community. This way, when Square Enix announces which servers will be getting the transfer bonuses you will have a pre-established character to transfer for free to reap the rewards.

balmung LF Other (Former) Tribal Seekers
Cynnie replied to Wornstone's topic in Chronicled Connections
Hello there! U'kijah also has very tribal tendencies and behaviors. She is no longer a member of her tribe, but loves to interact with others who understand what Seeker culture is like. She also loves to learn about other tribes' unique customs and cultures. Feel free to message me on here, or if you see me in game feel free to say hello! -

balmung New to the RP scene and am looking for connections
Cynnie replied to Moço's topic in Chronicled Connections
Welcome to the RPC! My RP times are spotty, but I have a rather nerfarious huntress that Lance might happen upon for a hunt. Feel free to send a message, and of course welcome to Balmung! -
Well, thank you, Cynnie. I appreciate the warm welcome! I need your help, if you would assist. Are there any "need-to-know" threads or articles I should read before entiring into FFRP? How about informative, yet not necessary information I could look over? Again, I appreciate the welcome and any assistance. Haha~ I think that one of the best threads that you can check out would be Sounsyy's lore compilation which can be found here as well as the general lore questions there here. These can give you more ideas about RP and anything from Sounsyy is a fantastic resource. I say just poke around using the search tool for any topic that you fancy and there is likely a myriad of things that will come up. Was there anything in particular that you had questions on? Another important thing is that if you are really into wanting to try RP, there is no other place like Balmung. There is a server transfer cost of $18, but you can bring 8 characters over at once to make the most of that money. The server is essentially 'permanently closed' but the server transfer bypasses that. There are just so many people that you can find any RP that you like!

Welcome to the RPC AND RP! It sounds like you're going to have a wonderful time. I think, as mentioned before, feel free to watch others rp and don't hesitate to reach out and take a look at people's profiles. That can help you get an idea of RP! Sending messages to people here to set something up has always worked out well for me! Again, welcome!

Welcome to the RPC! RP typically happens all over the place, but you'll find a lot of casual RP in Ul'dah. The calendar here on the website will be your best friend as people create events that may be in their homes. As for alts, lots of people have them, but not as many fully level them to 60. I've done it almost 3 times now and it's particularly torturous. If you do plan on transferring to Balmung I recommend making 8 characters on one server and transferring them all to Balmung if you do want alts. That way you're getting the most out of your money and if you ever do want to play the alt, they'll be on the server. The server is essentially permanently closed, so at least if you have the itch to play an alt, they'll be there. If you do have questions feel free to ask! People are friendly here. Welcome once again!

Welcome to the RPC! The advice people offered above is sound and if you use the search tool there is a lot of information to be gleaned from almost any topic you can think of. Networking is great on Balmung and if you have the opportunity to do so, definitely do it! Also feel free to ask questions, the people here are friendly and want to help. Again, welcome!

Welcome to the RPC and roleplaying! As far as most people are concerned you can RP whenever you want and wherever you want, but you might have some success with a couple of the roleplaying groups on Mateus. That way you can find like-minded people who can offer different avenues of roleplay as well as opportunity to do gameplay activities with. If I'm not mistaken it looks like they have a group here that you can join. Always feel free to ask questions! Everyone here is kind and happy to help,

Welcome back to the game and I'm sure you'll find some good groups to RP with!

I know how you feel especially in regards to walkups and continuity. As you said, sometimes a character just doesn't have a reason to speak to another one. I think everyone gave really great and sound advice, but one thing that sometimes helps me is to look for a reason why my character may speak to someone. Perhaps they have a really intriguing outfit, my character might comment on that and then I just see where the conversation goes. You never know! If the character itself is shy, you might even be able to message the person you have interest in RPing with and working out something OOC with their character. As far as I've seen most people are very happy to get a tell or a message and would be happy to work something out!

I agree with everyone else's advice. Communication is absolutely key. If you feel as if you are being neglected please bring it up to your SO. Perhaps just bring it up in a way that shows that you care for her and you'd really like to enjoy playing the game with her as well. I know that you stated you are not an RPer, but if you have had interest in it you could even try bringing up you would like to try RPing with her. It can be a great bonding experience with an SO! But again, communication is key!
