1. I'm still pretty new to the community so I've kept my opinions mostly to myself, but I'm kind of with Nate on this. I don't really see what the big fuss is about. Would saying something in PMs really make a big difference compared to redacting something? Taking things to PMs only generates gossip and what not. What happens if during the meeting person A goes to person B in PMs, then person B tells person C about their conversation with person A and then person C makes a big fuss about person A not saying whatever they are saying in the meeting? Sorry if that didn't make sense... The point is, if something is said and then later redacting it feels less conspiratorial than if something was said hush hush and then found out about later.
2. About as close as I can get to Ashren as a Black Mage.
3. I think a lot of this has to do with the fact that we are in beta, and the tests are a week a part, so people don't know what to do with themselves between tests. It's already been said before, but once the game goes live and people are spending more time in game than on the forums the problems will die down. One thing though to keep in mind is that you can join up to eight different Linkshells, which kind of reduces the level of competition really because certain characters are more than capable of joining different groups and participating. Granted, most people will usually have a "main" LS they stick with more than others, but it still doesn't stop a person from joining more than one in game, or even groups from roleplaying with others. I built the concept for my Linkshell around the idea that we would be cooperating proactively with other Linkshells when need be, because I'd much rather have my members be a part of the community than get caught up in isolated inner guild RP.
4. Sadly you'll need to pick a class from the city you want to begin if, so you'll need to balance what you want more. To start as a Marauder, which forces you to begin in Limsa; or to start in Gridania, which forces you to start as a Lancer, Archer, or Conjurer.
5. -6/20: Updated the main tab info and added a second tab.
6. bZz74yFLkvg This would definitely be Ashren's theme song.
7. I'm still working out the details, but if you're interested the idea behind my Linkshell (Black Sun Alliance) is that they are the vagabond and ragtag heroes new and old that feel that the way the Eorzean Alliance handled the situation was a bit too soft handed. They're primarily people who lost family, friends, and loved ones both when the Garlean Empire conquered Ala Mhigo, as well as during the Battle of Carteneau. Not everyone is seeking revenge, but they all believe in a more heavy handed form of justice.
8. I plan on naming mine Weiss, for the pun of Snow and White.
9. I have a level 1 Elezen THM on Balmung from when the game first came out. I managed to get into the game and make it through character creation, but at the time my computer just couldn't handle it. Several years later and a very large investment in a new pc I'm happy to say I'll finally get a chance to play that THM again, though he'll probably be a Manqo'te this time. Given that I'm the only person of my guild that was able to get into beta, I've been looking around to try and find where to make our home. So far it seems like you guys will be seeing the Black Sun Alliance cropping up in your community come launch! Hope to play with you all soon.
10. I like at least trying to wipe my feet on the welcome mat when entering someone else's home for the first time! Big fan of Doctor Steel, so glad to see his logo recognized as well!
11. Oh jeez, never know what to say about myself in these sort of intro sections. I'm a long time game, especially where the Final Fantasy series is concerned. I played Final Fantasy XI all the way up to the Wings of the Goddess expansion and originally ran the Hollow Ones Linkshell on the Bahamut server. Since then I've bounced around to plenty of other games, started the Black Sun guild that has followed me throughout many of my journeys, and now I've found my way to Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. I'm no stranger to the game, though I can't say I played for long during 1.0 I actually quit around the time Yoshida was announced to take over development, though had I known what he was going to do with the game! I found my way here from the beta forums, and I'm pleased to see how great the community is here. I've already made a few posts, though I figured I needed a semi-official introduction, so here it is! Hope to see you all in game. :moogle:
12. I. Basic Info Characters: Ashren Snow, Hayate Ishii, C'thalj Tia Primary character: Ashren Snow Linkshells: N/A Primary RP linkshell: N/A II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Medium to Heavy. I enjoy PvE and PvP, so some days I would rather Raid or do a Battleground than RP, while others all I want to do is hang around and do a little RPing in town or something. I do however find it difficult to remain in character all the time, though using when speaking in /say, or in a RP Linkshell I'll do my best to remain IC as much as possible. Views on RP combat and injuries: Roleplay Combat allows for more realistic fights to take place where you can really envision how your characters fighting style works. As for injuries, everyone suffers wounds from time to time and Ashren has his fair share of scars. Views on IC romance: Not at all opposed to it, a friend and I have discussed having our characters tied romantically to establish a relationship prior to playing. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): Also not opposed to this at all. Views on lore: I'd like to try and stick as closely to lore as possible, though I'm aware that my character does not fit the typical naming conventions for his race/clan. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): They serve a purpose, and I use them for different things (see above). Typically I use /say as IC, while /tell or /party I treat as being OOC (unless otherwise stated). In the middle of a raid or something I just can't be bothered to try and stay in character. III. 13. "Look to those who walked before to lead those who walk after." Leaders/Recruiters Razeiel Venaire (GM) Ashren Snow (Former) Kaln Tia (Officer) Mission Statement The Blades of Nald'thal are a secretive organization that has existed in the shadows of Eorzea since the Sixth Umbral Era. They have lived in relative silence for over 1,500 years, pursuing their own shadowy agendas, though now during a new Umbral Era they have regained their original purpose as arbiters of their own brand of dark justice. They are a mixture of many things; Knights, assassins, vigilantes, or even scientists or craftsmen. Each member has their own reasons for joining, and each one follows their own agenda individually but the organization of the Blades gives them the tools and the teamwork needed to achieve greater things. If you're interested in clandestine type stories, or Role-Playing as an Antihero then this is the group for you! While not limited to, the Blades of Nald'thal are primarily a dark themed RP group involving combat and espionage. Be warned however that they are somewhat of a paramilitary organization and follow a strict ranking system and chain of command. Headquarters Somewhere in Ul'dah. Application Criteria All applicants must be 18 or over, or at least have the maturity of an adult. I request that you plan on being active regularly within the group. This means attending meetings, events, and taking part in some of the regular activities we have planned. Currently I'm setting a level requirement of 10 for all applications. I am willing to relax on this requirement if we have spoken in length prior to you requesting an invite. Official recruitment in game will be done in character. This is so that your introduction into the organization feels organic and I can get a feel for your roleplay style. Despite the above there will be an informal OOC interview as well. All applicants are required to check our site and apply there if they are interested. Recruitment If you're interested in joining the ranks of the Blades then please feel free to contact any of the individuals listed above under Leaders and Recruiters, or visit our recruitment page here. Features Website: Yes VoIP: Yes Housing: TBA Raid Group: Yes PvP Group: TBA Content PvP: We will be organizing a group of people who are interested in doing PvP, whether it be the Coliseum or the Frontline battles. If you are interested in being a part of this please be sure to let us know. PvE: There is a lot of different types of PvE content in ARR, from small 4 person dungeons, to open world FATES, or even the massive 24 person raids. We would like to tackle as much of this as we can, whether it be farming FATEs for seals and gear, running Primal Battles, or attempting to organize runs into the Crystal Tower. Mentor System: Some of us are very informed in the lore and game mechanics for Eorzea and ARR. Because of this I will be setting up a mentor system, not only for helping players through the game and getting into character, as well as having all new members to the group be sponsored by a vet member, in order to teach them the ropes. Roleplay: The meat and potatoes of the group, we are an RP LS/FC and will do a lot of things together IC. This includes any of the above activities, but we will also be running events for our members, or working with other groups for collaborative events as well. Note: All of the above activities are voluntary and are opt-in. If you do not wish to do PvP, or end game content, you are not required to do so in order to join us. Please not that while we do have an OOC LS that anyone can join, if you wish to join us in RP you must join our FC.
