It's hard for me to narrow my favorites down. There's a lot of outfits I like for one reason or another. I generally like simpler designs, but I totally fell in love with the Infantry set. (Drops in Brayflox's Longstop)

I don't have a picture handy, but I pretty much just shrank everything and moved some of the more pressing windows (health, targets etc) to be a bit more central on the screen.

Virtue in the house! The GAH was awesome. Also, I think I may have played with you before, Waffle. (I can't think of any specific characters or instances offhand, but your name sounds familiar) Uh anyway, more on topic, yes the server issues stink. Boo! Hopefully it will all be resolved soonish.

Don't feel too bad, OP. I'm finding myself in a similar position. It's just days away from launch now and I still have little semblance of a background for my character. There's some really good insights in this thread. In my case though, I don't really consider creative writing my strong point, so I'm hoping to just go with a general character idea and slowly build on that through RP while I learn more of the world and the people in it. Hopefully it works out.

I usually hate crafting & gathering in MMOs. I've found gathering in ARR to be an addictive distraction, though crafting I'm still on the fence about. I don't mind the system itself, and I really like the animations. It just irks me that I seem to need to know several other crafts in order to advance the one that I want. That said, I didn't dabble all that much into it, so I'll probably give it another look someone once the servers are up again.

Oh, how did I not see this until just now? I'm usually very guildshy, but I really love the ideas you have for your group. I'm still in way in the early stages of my character's development (e.g. winging it as I go along :blush: ) but the way she's shaping up in my head, I can't help but think she'd make an interesting executive assistant type, or an accountant of some sort, since she's very thrifty with money. If nothing else, I wouldn't mind interacting with you all sometime. I'll have to make a note to shadow keep an eye out for you in game.

Funny enough, D (Followed very closely by A) was my favorite because he just seemed the most approachable and down to earth. (down to Eorzea?) Fleshing things out some is great, but IMHO, I don't believe characters need super-elaborate backstories to be interesting. Anyway, looks like you've got things figured out now. Also, Rydia was awesome!

Level 12 I think, in like 1 job. I think I may have gotten flower-picking to level 4 or something.

I agree that the world totally needs more Lalas, so I tried to Lalafy my character a bit. (with some liberties taken) She turned out like this: And now I want to play a Lalafell. :lol: Honestly, if it didn't involve me trying to think up a new name, I'd probably seriously consider doing it. Lala Clover is absolutely adorable.

...Okay, I apologize for the title. It's late and that's the best my brain could come up with. I've been snooping browsing around here a little while. I originally wasn't going to make a welcome post, mostly because I'm forum-shy, and terrible at intros, but I figured it may be ignorant if I don't. Thus, this post is born! -MMORPG background I've dabbled in a bunch of them, EQ1 being my first. (Well, PSO technically, if that counts) Played FFXI a little bit too. CoH was my favorite though, until it's sudden closure. (RIP; You'll always have a place in my heart!) I haven't done much since then MMO wise, save for brief stints in TERA and TSW. I'm pretty new to FFXIV. Well, I played 1.0 beta for a bit, and live for like 20 minutes months later. So not very experienced FF14-wise, unfortunately. --RP experience I've tried to RP a bit in TERA and TSW, but most of my RP experiences came from CoH. Overall, I guess I've been pretty casual RPwise compared to most though. I mostly just ran missions ICly, never did a story or forum RP or anything. I've also never done any tabletop RP, so I don't really consider myself an RP pro at all. That said, I'm really looking forward to learning the finer points of RP with everyone in ARR. --Character ideas/info This is still really up in the air. Probably an off-kilter poet who smiles on the outside and is totally shady within. Or something. ... I don't a clue. I'll probably start with a very generic basic idea and weave my character's story/personality as I play, letting her interactions with others help mold her. --If that even makes sense. :blush: I guess it's just a fancy way of saying I'm totally winging it. :lol: --How did you learn about the coalition? An in-game add during Beta 3. I think I may have joined this site during 1.0 beta, but I also often think my shoes are trying to warn me of danger, so who knows? --What kind of a role-player are you aiming to be? Light, medium, or heavy? Medium and a third. --Anything from real life you're comfortable with sharing? I find thick eyebrows an attractive trait. I'm loving everyone's creativity so far. Beta 4 just can't come fast enough. I guess my character looks rather plain, but here is what I have so far. In live, she'll be wearing glasses when not in serious combat. I made a couple of different appearances, the second was my attempt to make her look slightly less dull and Harry Potter-ish. I'm really not sure which one I'll choose come beta, though the outcome will probably effect how I RP her. I'm totally open to opinions!

Aside from lurking 'round the forum, I've been trying to get ahead of projects at work, so that I can reward myself with a short, but much needed break when ARR finally releases. My DS has been getting a workout lately too, because Etrian Oddessy IV is the bee's knees. Lastly, I've been trying desperately to put together some semblance of cohesion (story/looks/attitude-wise) for my character before Beta 4, since I wholeheartedly admit that I still have no bloody idea what I'm doing.

Most likely timewarped and unashamedly working the foggy memory angle, if only to explain why she's so out of touch with everything while I slowly understand more of the lore/people etc.

It ended kind of abruptly, (or I guess it moved going by the pics? It was like, super-packed, then everyone was gone!) but all in all, I had a good time. I didn't really know anyone there, but I still got to try out some RP with a couple of folks who hung out by the bar, and they were great! Hopefully, I can make the next one too.
