  1. Comment one: Can I put in a vote for Rydia? Best server name ever <3 Comment two: Can't we all just get along? Comment three: I have no clue what my plan is yet so don't wanna vote. Yay!
  2. I'm going to say Sonic. Honestly, it is the only comic I read much of, and the kind of dark and gritty world was a big impact on me, I think. I started appreciating serious settings more, and I found a greater focus on humor in them as a counter-point. Plus small fuzzy animals and robots!
  3. During my first beta weekend, I leveled a character on Malboro. I got to the gear-check quest fast and had to do my other quests to get the needed gear. Somehow I was still missing pants. This last weekend I was on Gilgamesh anf did the gear.check quest after going through everything else on my list. I had to buy pants.
  4. HOW DID YOU FIND ME OUT!?! THEY ARE MIIIIIIIIINE!
  5. I. Basic Info Characters: Y'sehr Ntasha Primary Character: Y'sehr Ntasha Linkshell: None as yet. Would like one though! Primary Linkshell: See previous response. II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): I am honestly still new to the whole thing, so light-medium to start perhaps? I am open to trying things out, I just have a lot to explore still. Views on RP Combat and injuries: I have never done any! It sounds as valid as anything else, it just takes cooperation. Views on IC romance: I don't mind, I guess? If both people are into it, why not? Just don't make it awkward for others and be mature and fair to each other. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): Family is fun and under-used! Views on Lore: It's pretty neat. It makes the world go round? It lets me be a cat? Views on chat functions(/say, /linkshell, ect): Spamming things in /yell is wrong. Oh, RP-related use? Er, I think that's pretty well established? Use wisely and ask other participants when in doubt? III. Other info Country: USA Timezone: EST Contact info: -
  6. Thank you for making this! I feel in love with goldsmithing over the last beta weekend and this nicely explains some of the depth and future experiences I can look forward to!
  7. Oh toxicity. I was in the LoL community from an early point, and it honestly was a great community back in the day. The mean stuff slowly built up. The worst part is that it grates on you. It is infectious because it still kinda hurts, and that hurt is what starts to make you want to lash out in your own right. I think that part of the solution, as previously said, is to play with people you know. Play with those people that you know to be level-headed and supportive, and willing to look for whatever problem is happening in the group when something goes wrong, rather than blaming others. The other part of the solutions is just paying attention, being that level-headed person, and setting an example for others. Diffuse situations. Stand up for people in a gentle way - and stand up for everyone equally when you can. As long as we work at it, everything will just get better
  8. Arlon, I have been dating a non-gamer girl for years now, and I have to say that the key to survival is, like in most relationship issues, communication. I talk to my girlfriend, and she has come to realize that gaming is something I love, and that gives me an important outlet. She respects my time and, when not gaming, I'm with her. It does help quite a bit that she is in science and works an ungodly amount, but that's not really the heart of why things work out. I know sometimes she has to work on the weekends. She knows sometimes I really need to be with goodly folks like you lot. Let her know that this is important. As to the game being disappointing... don't play it I don't mean that in any negative way at all. If the game isn't appealing after playing it, find something else. I would council that you look at the interactions you have been having and see if the game itself is disappointing or if the interactions with other people aren't matching what you are used to, and that is causing disappointment. Really though, there are lots of great and different games out there. If this one isn't for you, find one that is!
  9. I really like these! The second one really looks like Dustyn.
  10. Here is how Y'sehr turned out! He has riding glasses on for the dust the chocobo kicks up.
  11. I see what you did there. (emphasis mine) ...How did I miss this? My subtle salute to speech side-stepped your skimming? 8-)
  12. Thal's balls... did anyone else read the Malazan Book of the Fallen series? The main characters had a number of epitaphs referencing the various gods, and all of them were of a particular fashion. Ex: "Togg's teats" as a general curse/exclamation. Togg is male. His teats are useless. "Hood's breath"; Hood is the god of the dead. He doesn't have breath. Thal's balls isn't quite in the same vein I would think, but it reminded me of that. +1 for Woolsey expressions. Son of a submariner!
  13. My initial thought was that it might be nice to let the 1.0 people have the battle, and have that little bit to their story - like an RP legacy mark. Acknowledge that they were actually here. I'm sure it's not a big deal, really, but that's how I looked at it as an incoming player.
  14. Here's to learning to RP and committing genocide on hideous, over-grown insects. Huzzah! Okay, we shall all have to get together and figure things out. And at some point we should chat GW2! I only stopped about a week ago...
  15. The only interesting thing I've noticed for speaking mannerisms is that the Lalafell actually alliterate an amazing amount. Everyone else seemed colorful, but not in a racially/group/regionally specific way that I saw. I'd actually love to know if anyone else has noticed anything too!
  16. This is a lovely idea, and I would gladly patronize you! I will also mirror Uther and say that I would also tell others about you. I think the community feeling would be great. It's also, honestly, what I do with places I like, so it seems pretty natural. I bet it's also a lot more fun than buying from NPCs. I hope it works out!
  17. Wow, thank you, everyone! I'm going to enjoy getting to know all of you
  18. I'm 26, and I haven't done a lot of RP. I did some light RP with a friend, and a little on forums and what not, but most of that was a long time ago now. I haven't even taken many writing classes. I liked reading and trying and the interaction.
  19. Hi, er, everyone. I am nervous as heck. To be honest, I haven't really jumped into a real online community in a long time. I got into the beta and suddenly was thinking of all the old fun I had online before it was all PvP this and F2P that and oy. This was back when we hadn't hit double-digit Final Fantasy games yet. Well, ah, anyway, I honestly have been sold on the game at this point. Guild Wars 2 isn't holding me, and part of that is that I really crave a good story, and I am interested in RP I've found. I've done a little bit. In small doses, here and there, and particularly with a friend. I am a little shy/nervous about it, and I want a community that will help me get into it and really have fun. Sorry this is so long! I'm just not sure what to say... ... ... hi!
