  1. Alexia vehemently believes moogles aren't real. Despite living in a world with many strange creatures and bizarre happenings, she refuses to believe in the puffballs, simply because she's never actually seen one. Where does mail come from? A very sneaky postman. What are all the people who claim to have seen moogles actually seeing? White sylphs. If somebody throws a moogle at her? WARM SNOWBALL. Open your eyes sheeple, you're letting the Seedseers control your mind with their ideas of tufts of fur who worship larger tufts of fur!
  2. To add to the long list of stories about people who don't listen or simply don't understand basic gameplay, I bring you a tale of a recent excursion into Pharos Sirius NM! At first it was the regular duty roulette fare: the tank isn't using cooldowns and is pulling one trash group at a time, but I'm not being too fussy about this because the DPS are me (a trusty MCH) and a sprout ninja, so I understand going slow. The healer- bless his heart- knows what he's doing, but I notice he isn't doing any DPS, however I say nothing at first. This is lazy mode DF, so whatever. But then we get to Symond, I use Wildfire burst, pull aggro off the tank immediately, and barely survive thanks to the healer. But tank takes back aggro with some difficulty and then they die instantly and we wipe. On a boss that's just 'dodge the AOEs'. So we run back and then we wipe yet again, and the ninja says 'bruh what is the deal' (from that one phrase I knew exactly how much of a nightmare this guy would be). It occurs to me now that several things aren't quite right... The ninja isn't using Ninjutsus. At all. I checked, three times. The tank is tanking in Sword Oath. I cried. The tank is using defensive CDs and letting them fall off before running up to the boss. I... don't know why. And as for things that are going right: The healer- bless his heart- is doing his very best and keeping us as alive as he can. So I explain to the tank to use Shield Oath and we do the boss again, barely beating it, though I still died. Because I seriously wasn't sure, I took the opportunity to look in my battle log to see if the ninja was using Ninjutsus or not. He wasn't, so I told him to, then he claimed he always was and started using them. Sigh. I called him on it, and he didn't reply. I explained the second boss, but still ended up tanking it anyways, even though I didn't use Wildfire burst until after I'd stolen aggro. Sigh. We beat the boss, luckily. And then we begin to approach the third boss, where I tell the tank to stop using CDs outside of combat, but they are a mute and do not take that advice anyways. SIGH. We get to the last boss and I explain it again, and this time I make sure to use no cooldowns until I've ripped aggro yet again, which was a certainty at this point. Healer does his job superbly, ninja does whatever and tank does God knows what and in the end it's just me and the Siren. I manage to kill it literally just before it kills me. I quickly type 'Oh thank god' in chat and the healer- bless his heart- agrees with a simple 'I know'. I roll pass on the loot, tell the healer he was an ace, as if to thank him while also passive aggressively condemning the tank and ninja, and left after a moment of deep breathing. So I got my tomestones, but no commendation. Video games are fun.
  3. MCH isn't boring at all pre-50, but it gets Gauss Barrel and then becomes a watered down BLM, sort of like BRD does. Personally I like it enough to main it, but that's just me. I mostly like the aesthetic and how cool it looks, and it's challenging enough to be engaging. Obviously not everybody sees it that way though. Also; yes, Blank is the worst and people should seriously take it off their hotbars if they can't use it the three times it's useful and never in any other other situation. But that's mostly how I feel about every knockback move, though MCHs are by far the biggest culprit for ruining melee DPS positionals.
  4. Alexia doesn't know who the glass belongs to, but thinks they should clean up after themselves and also won't touch it herself because germs. She doesn't know who's put their slimy lips on that glass, after all.
  5. I've been getting the worst luck in the DF lately, and it's really starting to grind away at my eternal soul gears. Normally I'm really forgiving with any random group I come across, especially if they're a sprout or announce that they're new to the role or class, so long as they are genuinely putting in an effort. I mean, we were all there at one point. Lately though I've been getting a lot of mentors in my roulettes who either perform worse than the sprouts in the party or just kind of go out of their way to show how little they care. When I'm trying to level my GLD and I'm in Haukke NM (so no shield stance, obviously), I do not want the PvE mentor MCH attacking the enemies I haven't marked and then pulling enemies I intentionally and clearly did not pull. Our sprout healer simply couldn't keep up no matter how many cooldowns I popped; she just wasn't prepared. You've worked pretty hard to be a mentor, so there's no good reason for you not to know these simple things, and I will chew you out for messing up and I will especially chew you out if you're being toxic to a sprout, because the entire point of your fancy ass crown is to help them out. Because of the onslaught of bad mentors, I've come to have as strong a distaste for them as I do elitist healers and people who 'speedrun' without announcing it first. I guess I like common courtesy as much as I do basic levels of competence. As another DF revelation, I know the popular consensus/running gag is that all DRGs are awful and their favourite pastime is taking AOEs to the face, but honestly I have yet to find a MCH in duty finder that didn't make me want to switch to my MCH so I could blow my digital brains out. Really need that to be an emote.
  6. I feel like this is really a big part of why I don't play healer. Literally everybody goes after you if anything goes wrong or somebody dies, even if you did nothing wrong. But I'm gonna compare this to tank stances because I can and it's the only comparison I have enough personal experience to make. If you're a DRK, you have grit on while you're tanking. Obviously, you should because it's your tank stance. But let's say you're not tanking, or the boss you're fighting has no aggro table and just hits who he wants, what then? Grit is useless, and it's better to leave off. But if you're fighting a boss which requires frequent tank swaps, will you turn grit on and off depending on whether it's your turn to tank? You can, if you feel like you're able, and should! But if you know you probably can't do it easily enough and keep up MP, or if you imagine it will hinder you in some other way, nobody will badger you too hard if you keep it on, and it may be better to ignore swapping stances altogether. Only if you know it's a bad idea for you though. It's the DPS' job to deal a boatload of damage after all, not the tank's, and they should not be whining if the tank is not making up for their bad damage. I feel the same way about cleric stance. If you know that you won't be able to stance dance easily, and trying to do so will only hurt your progress, don't. But during periods of time where you can easily go without healing for a few seconds, or in earlier dungeons, you can turn it on and probably relax. As always though, once you get into later game stuff- especially HW content- you'll be expected to know how to swap stances easily no matter what, and you have nobody to blame but yourself if you do. And late game raiding? Hoo boy, if you don't stance dance you will not be welcomed into any statics and probably be kicked. And at that point, who can blame them? You've had Cleric Stance available for a long time now. Don't feel pressured to be a master of your class, but at the same time, try to get better at it as you play. If you're not going to try and be good at your class, play a different class. Hopefully that makes sense and doesn't come off as too harsh.
  7. Th- this is actually a thing that happens? How? I literally started leveling DRK a week ago, saw Darkside and said "Wow that's obviously really useful and important, I should always have that on." MP is easy to regen at first, and only gets easier as you level up; by Qarn you have Blood Price so if you use that it's nearly impossible to lose MP, unless you're spamming Unleash like an idiot. And even if you don't use the three skills that require DS at 50 (I think it's only three skills at that point), it still increases damage by 15%, which makes Grit usable in general. It's literally the most important thing you have in your whole arsenal, especially if you're not tanking. I suppose it's part of the same deal as bards who don't use Wanderer's Minuet or Machinists who don't use Gauss Barrel. I see way too much of that. Yes it's ridiculous. Was in expert earlier, I'm a ilvl 220 NIN and I was ripping aggro of the DRK so much he actually started marking targets halfway through. I go "The reason you're losing aggro is because you're not doing enough damage without Dark side, please pop it." I get the reply "I know what I'm doing. Get off my back." Ok... second boss of Hullbreaker I RIP aggro half the fight and he STILL runs out of mp because of unleash spam with no dark side. I'm like, DUDE JUST POP IT IT'S LIKE THE MOST IMPORTANT BUFF YOU HAVE. Nope. I checked his character sheet and low and behold fucker hadn't even hit level 2 on either WAR or PLD but had a 60 NIN and BLM. Needless to say my comm went to the healer. If you're going to level a DRK probably because it's 30 levels quicker to max, at least put fucking provoke in your skill set. Wow, I feel bad for you, most of my DRKs I get when I'm not tanking know what they're doing. Like I said, I just started getting DRK up, and since I hadn't tanked very much before I made sure to get PLD and WAR up for cross class abilities, seeing as how that's just common sense and all that. You literally can't tank properly in a lot of higher level trials and dungeons without Provoke, it's essential. I thought the worst of people not knowing how to tank that picked up DRK were long gone, but apparently not. And I mean, it's probably the easiest tank to learn. There's really no excuse.

  9. 0/10 Not enough swimsuits. In all seriousness though, it's high time we had a group of for real Eorzean Power Rangers. Looking forwards to the video of them fighting Brute Justice, filled with obligatory smash cuts and mid fight poses.
  10. Fun fact, I didn't realize just how much I love Haurchefant until I REALLY realized how much I love Haurchefant. So obviously WoL x him. Aside from that, Raubahn x Merlwyb. I mean, the two best leaders and they're both cool and tall and not Kan-E- robo voice? Match made in heaven!
  11. So I'm going to bring up a weird case regarding how voidsent take away your personality, which is the Forgall fight in Weeping City. When Forgall raises the dead sky pirates in the arena, they actually start talking and begging for mercy and lamenting their fate, and it seems unlikely Forgall is making them do that. And it's not like they've just been afflicted by the slow zombification like we get, they're dead when we get there. No other void risen dead people seem to do this, but maybe because all the others we've seen have been dead for a long time? I suppose the pirates weren't exactly possessed, though it is kind of hard to say, but maybe you can be controlled by the void and not lose your memories and such? As for summoning voidsent, oh yeah those guys who do it with rituals are for sure dead.
  12. I. Basic Info Characters: Alexia Peregris Primary Character: Alexia Peregris Linkshells: None so far Primary Linkshell: None so far II. RP Style Amount of RP (Light, Medium, Heavy) I'm try to stick to medium/heavy RP, and I'll probably be in character most of the time (but an OOC tell to check is appreciated). If I'm involved in an event or some such though, I'll always be in character no matter what. Views on Combat Combat's fine, and it can be a lot of fun. However, nobody should be seriously hurt unless agreed upon OOC beforehand, but that's just common courtesy (and sense) really. Views on Romance Romance is fine, I guess. It's not something I'm really looking for, nor is my character, but if it seems natural and has been built up over a period of time, sure. It should still be discussed OOC though. Views on Lore Characters and their stories should try and stick to the lore as much as possible in my opinion, granted that's not always possible. So try and stick to it, but there's some wiggle room for sure and I won't nitpick. Chat Functions /say, /yell, /em are all IC unless otherwise marked by '(( ))'. /shout is always out of character, and /tell normally would be too. /ls, /fc, and /p would all depend on the group, obviously. 13. Hi! Just recently joined the RPC and moved to Balmung here. I've been playing the game for a while and have a fair bit of RP experience under my belt, and it seemed like this was the cool place to be. So hopefully I'll be able to be really active around here and meet some of you guys in game. See you around!
