  1. I was influenced by both Hulk Hogan and El Santo when I created Still Mountain. The concept is simple: A Gladiator who wants to be an example to kids. Recently he decided he wanted to become a mercenary, so he could travel Eorzea teaching the kids to respect the elders and to not skip meals while battling beasts and doing poses.
  2. Details like that make the game more interesting.
  3. Sure thing, Still Mountain will send a Pen Pal request letter tomorrow.
  4. Still Mountain - Roegadyn Being a hero for children all across Ul'dah is hard work! Finding a decent pen pal for the scourge of the sands, the mountain that holds still can help the big Roegadyn relax between his squat sessions and combat drills. Still Mountain buys a bit on his own (fabricated) hype, but he has his heart on the right place. If you are a friend of justice, you are already a friend of his. So send him mail!
  5. I. Basic Info Characters: Still Mountain (Balmung), Farrisil Swyrfrutsyn (Gilgamesh) Primary character: Still Mountain Linkshells: None yet. Primary RP linkshell: I wish! [*] II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Heavy RP is my preferrence. Views on RP combat and injuries: Injuries can add drama and a sense of progression for a character, I quite like it. I'm part of the group who would prefer combat to occur using in game mechanics but I'm not completely oposed to RP combat, I just don't like it very much. Views on IC romance: Can add a lot of depth to all characters involved! Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): Can also add a bunch of depth too. Views on lore: I love the lore of FF14 and I try to abide it as much as I can. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): Follow the chat rules set by the owner of the linkshell, if it's IC I'll be there ICly, if it's not, OoCly. I only use /say for IC actions with the occasional bracket OoC statement. [*] III. Other Info Country: Brazil Timezone:T BRT (About 3 hours early than the server time) Contact info:T Send me tells in game or over this forum please! Thank you. [*]
  6. Might as well post the other one, I'm having trouble deciding between the servers anyway: Character Name: Still Mountain Hells/Sea?: Hellsguard Gender: Male Timezone: BRT (About 3 extra hours in comparison to server time)[/b] Looking for?: RP of any kind. Server: Balmung 2. Does your character fit the 'common' lore of your Roegadyn or are they singular? (Eg. Raised by hyur so does not understand X or Y = singular) Hellsguard mercenary. Can't get more 'common' than that, even if he has some twists to him. 3. What are your RP limits, if any? (Eg: no permadeath, no ERP etc) While I have nothing against those who enjoy permadeath or ERP if I can avoid it I would. I'd be willing anything otherwise.
  7. Because of my country location, I'm kinda forced to be a daytime player overall, even if I can make it to late night rp once in a blue moon. I'd be more than willing to strike up any rp with other early birds.
  8. Character Name: Farrisil Swyrfrutsyn Hells/Sea?: Sea Wolf Gender: Male Timezone: BRT (About 3 extra hours in comparison to server time)[/b] Looking for?: RP of any kind. I'm a bit lonely to tell the truth. But I'd prefer a mentor type for Farrisil, considering he is a youngster. Server: Gilgamesh 2. Does your character fit the 'common' lore of your Roegadyn or are they singular? (Eg. Raised by hyur so does not understand X or Y = singular) I've tried my best to make him as close as possible to the lore, however I do not have much information for young Sea Wolves who just recently hit what would be the late "teens" of the race, I'd appreciate insight over the matter. 3. What are your RP limits, if any? (Eg: no permadeath, no ERP etc) While I have nothing against those who enjoy permadeath or ERP if I can avoid it I would. I'd be willing anything otherwise.
  9. I think I've never laughed so hard at a character background before! But seriously, awesome character all around. It is very nice to see creative players showing off their Roegadyn, suddenly it's not as lonely as before! After reading your feedback and characters I decided to go with the boisterous gladiator. I dunno, I think it clicks with most of the concepts posted here, I can see some really fun interaction with you guys;
  10. It's not everyday you get to play a giantess-like character that was born in a volcano set to uncover the arcane secrets of the world one dungeon at a time! Even if the base concept is tried and true, the Roegadyn mix makes it fresh again, I'll agree to that.
  11. (Ahhh, thank you. <3) In that case, you could still utilize both character concepts? :moogle: I usually have one main character, one alt I play more than the rest, and a merry band of others that I mess around with whenever the mood strikes me. I have the issue of coming up with a ton of concepts and I have a hard time narrowing the pack down to just one or two characters. My Roe might fit 'big and muscular scholar' a bit, haha. I went for a DoM heavy Hellsguard and chose to make her native/non-cityborn so she'd still have that mystical feeling that surrounds their lore. Yet after coming down from Abalathia and adventuring for over a decade, she's also well-adapted to the city at this point in her life. She's a researcher/expeditionist type and very gung-ho about what she does. I'm still working it out because I fear it's not very original, but that's the groundwork of it. Yeah the idea was that the "main" would be decided by these two concepts and the other one would pop in Gilgamesh as an alt. Honestly while that concept isn't that original (like you stated) I feel it's quite interesting nonetheless. A brave scholar type, a Roegadyn "Indiana Jones"-like character who isn't afraid to go to crazy expeditions in Eorzea sounds like a blast to RP as and with so I can see what you mean! You will be playing in Balmung yes?
  12. Your particular Roegadyn looks so elegant, I actually though it was an Elezen at first when I saw you posting her. I'm glad you enjoyed it! So far I'm leaning gladiator myself. Bringing something cheerful and colorful to the rp table is something I really enjoy doing, I RPed for years as a luchador in champions online and it kinda rubs into my other MMO characters. I just don't want to go overboard with it so it gets annoying, moderation is the key. At first I was leaning Gilgamesh but I had a blast teaming up with Balmung players so I'm torn, but for now I think I'll try to have a main on Balmung and another character in Gilgamesh trying to help them build up their community. Thank you for your feedback! I'm glad someone enjoyed it as much as I did! I really like Roegadyn lore and it kinda inspired me. EDIT: I screwed up quoting. Seriously. How can someone screw quotation? Ooh you might be into something there! Maybe I could combine them both for a young boisterous gladiator from the Hellsguard clan. I had his apperance saved as someone looking on his thirties, but I guess I can work to make him look younger.
  13. Hey there fellow Hydaelyn Roleplayers! As I struggled to decide which archetype of Roegadyn I am about to choose for my main, I decided to open up the thread and hear about others: What are your expectations with Roegadyn RP? It's probably the less popular race in the game period so seeing the big fellas and ladies would be something far and between. Any surprises? Going for that big and muscular Scholar of your dreams? Or are you going to be a traditional Sea Wolf and play him/her as a marauder? For me I'm hung on two concepts (Feel free to give your opinion): - The overly cheerful gladiator A Hellsguard mercenary who once sold his craft at a gladiatorial event and the roar of the crowd conquered his heart, he strives to dress in the most over the top armor and outfits he can find and try to put on a performance not only in the arena, but outside of it as well. His big and outrageous persona is nothing but myth making, in particular to impress the kids. Kids who line up to buy a ticket and see their champion beat the bad guy at the arena! Though outside character he is a calm and humble, once he dons his colorful vests it's almost like he transformed into a warrior of legend - Even if it's just make believe. (The reasons for this particular character embrace children and striving to be a champion for them would be something to come out from his background.) - Cute yet Brash Sea Wolf A young, cheerful Sea Wolf who has a heart for adventure. He was born to a fisherman couple and grew up hearing tales of the sea, created by his father. He wanted to believe so hard on the fisherman's tale he decided to become an adventurer himself and make the bed times stories a reality. With axe in hand and with a thirst for action, this youngster will cut anything in front of him with glee. (The concept of "A young Roegadyn" kept poping in my head. How would their kids act? How would a Roegadyn kid mature into an adult? This concept is of a very immature character that would have his grownth by interaction.) Feel free to use this thread to post your own concepts, archetypes, hopes and dreams! If it's Roegadyn related, you got a reader in me.
  14. I'm having the same server doubts myself. The second one is just amazing, I'd go with her.
  15. Try to incorporate a Shantoto esque laugh into your repertoire.
  16. I'm open to critique and feedback. Still Mountain is a easy going Roegadyn taking it easy.
  17. I was between a male hyur or a male Roegadyn but seeing Roegadyn is tied with the less popular one I feel I should play one to add to their numbers. Poor guys.
  18. I. Basic Info Characters: Still Mountain Primary character: Still Mountain Primary RP linkshell: None yet (looking for one) Linkshells: None yet (looking for one) II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Medium, To me RP ehances the experience of the game and it's something I look foward too, but as part of the whole. Views on RP combat and injuries: No character death, injuries can happen. Views on IC romance: I have no issue with it one way or another but I rarely end up in one. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): Bounds between characters are always fun right? Views on lore: I'll do my best! Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): /say is almost RP on all the time for me, while I try to use other functions to act ooc with non-rpers. Linkshells tend to different themselves on their own, I just need to abide by it once I get in there. III. Other Info Timezone: EST (NYC) Contact info: PM on the site. I get warning on my email so I'll know for sure. Free Company - None yet Currently seeking any linkshell/free company/Somebody to help me get back into rping. I've never rped in a Square MMO before and I feel rusty.
  19. I've found this site to be a great resource of course if anyone has something better please list it http://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/Roegadyn http://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/Roegadyn_Naming_Conventions That actually helped me alot!Thank you.
  20. Hey there! I intend of starting RPing in MMOs again with this game. I decided to play a Roegadyn because they look fun, I love their naming convention and Limsa Lomsa was my favorite town and it's all about dem Sea Wolves. However the wiki is a bit barebones on their culture. Where can I find the most information about them? How their behave? How do their family relationship work? And so on. Anything is fine, I'm hunting all information I can about the buggers.
