  1. lol! I love how this has become as big as it has. It's hilarious that we all agree that they both look great! And humm. I still think the Miqo'te looks more battle-weary and such but the Hyur is definitely a hottie. You could always make him a Were-Miqo'te and have him shift between the two!... .... No?
  2. Hum, well. I can definitely see how making people wait is...hm. Frustrating. And I suppose that every good cause needs people who want to see it done right now. Reminds me of when your boss sets goals above their level of expectation so that employees will actually try and reach those levels. So! I see nothing wrong with lighting the fire beneath SE's tail a bit to get them moving along. It may seem insensitive to cultural traditions, but it isn't like we're discussing dinner ceremony or fashion trends lol! It's change that the entire world should strive to see.
  3. Oh, well, of course! If they're going to include same sex marriages then this entire debate is pointless and they're not discriminating. I thought that was sort of obvious though lol.
  4. Aw gosh, more heated debates. These always make me feel uncomfortable. Well, my two cents is this: It's discrimination. It may seem petty given that we're discussing fake marriage in a video game, but that doesn't change the fact that it's discrimination. The best way that I can convey my feelings is to say to pretend like this game is coming out in 1950 and they aren't going to allow characters outside of certain skin tone ranges to marry. Sure, it seems absolutely silly right now... but sixty years ago? What if the developer did it so they wouldn't offend American traditions back then? That said! I really hope they implement it. I'm not a VIP member of the LGBT community (ehehe) but it'd be a small step forward for us all! Also I really like everything Myxie Tryxle said.
  5. My new evil character! I have no name for her yet. But I want her to get beat up lots and lose against goodie two shoe types. ;D She's blind in her right eye. Hence the whited outedness and the scar!
  6. I really like your Miqo'te design! He looks much more...hm. I'm not sure how to say it without sounding silly but...evil! Midlanders tend to have that youthful appearance to them, which is cool for some! But in my personal opinion? Yeaaah, your Miqo'te looks really awesome.
  7. This is something I actually did want to play with! I love characters that stumble along their way so this is the perfect opportunity to fiddle with that! Thanks a bunch for the input! I'm finally starting to feel like her story is a part of this universe!
  8. Awesome! Thanks guys! I think Eva had the same sort of idea that I had for Eve (as far as the car metaphor goes). She doesn't know the workings of how to do what she does, she just does it. Unfortunately, that does mean she'll screw up from time to time and if her oil needs changing or if a belt slips she's completely lost lol! I think my plan will be to have Eve basically be a copy/paste of the NPC in the quest that you guys are discussing. She had this innate talent for manipulating aether, but realized that it was dangerous when she ran into an actual Conjurer with the proper training. He/She explained the situation, and maybe Eve spent a few months gleaning what knowledge she could from him. I don't see her as the type to stick around in an environment where she's going to be beneath someone (even a teacher) for very long. So she'll leave before she's had the full out training required, but perhaps decide to strike out on her own again and go her own way with her newfound knowledge. Does anything look wrong with that? D:

    Well met!

Welcome! Good to see you've stepped out of the shadows. And hooray! More Highlanders! He sounds really awesome. Hope you enjoy your time here!
  10. Welcome! And hooray! Good to see more Tarnished Coasters on here. I really like your Amity Fields idea, it's so light hearted and fluffy and cheery!
  11. Oh I see! Okay then, that makes sense. Thanks so much! You basically answered all of my questions. I was a bit confused about the lore behind the White Mages. I'd seen somewhere that they were rare because of this or that, but your explanation makes it a bit more clear. The bit about having an innate ability to heal is SUPER helpful. Again, I really appreciate you taking the time to write all that out!
  12. Meep! I'm trying to get into the nitty gritty of my character's background and figure out certain details of her past that I'm completely in the dark about! If anyone can answer some questions or point me towards a Wiki excerpt I may have overlooked, I'd really appreciate it! Eve (my character) isn't meant to be a particularly scholarly type. I'd like for her to be a White Mage, but would it make sense for a character that's not been groomed for years to take that up (I really know very little about their training)? I don't mind sticking her in some sort of training for a couple of years or something, but is it a thing that's meant to be super rare and difficult to accomplish? I will be playing her as a White Mage in the game itself. So it'd be great if she could be a White Mage IC as well! If not, are there any alternatives to healers on an IC level? I don't really care if she's a White Mage. I would prefer it, but if it just doesn't make sense then...yeah. Mostly I just care that she would specialize in healing/support. Would it make sense for a character to have an innate gift towards the healing arts? Perhaps that could give her a boost in that direction? Thanks for any discussion!
  13. Nothing wrong with having a different view on how to deal with them. I just personally don't want to stop to take the time to screenshot/talk with them in any way since that does allow them to win by disrupting my roleplay. I haven't been able to play in any of the betas on Balmung yet, so I'll have to take your word for it! This is coming from my personal experience with trolls on other games. And in my experience, completely ignoring them does make them leave. As far as making them lose, meh. Like I said. I'd rather roleplay than go through the hassle of pausing and starting up a conversation with them or screenshotting stuff. But then again, I have pretty thick skin! Spell bombing and whatnot doesn't bug me.
  14. Great post to help people cope with being bullied online I think. I definitely agree with ShadowRyuu in saying that the best way to deal with trolls is to straight up ignore them and continue roleplaying. Don't respond. Don't even act like they're there. There's nothing they can do to actually mess your roleplay up, aside from spamming chat perhaps. But even that can be countered by blocking and reporting. You can't stop them from dancing in their underwear, but 90% of roleplaying is text based anyway. Who cares!
  15. Oh I love doing this! For Eve, I'd definitely say... For Anselm? Uh. I'm not sure. But this comes to mind...
  16. How might I delete a wiki page? I've made a last minute decision to change one of my characters' names and I'm guessing the only way to update that on the Wiki is by making a new page. D: I don't want to leave the old page sitting there and cluttering things up, though! Thanks.
  17. Agreed. These threads would go 10x better without the snarky attitudes that pop in.
  18. Welcome ShadowRyuu! I tried TERA roleplay for a bit as well, but I couldn't get into it either. Sad really. Such a beautiful game with an interesting concept. But on with life! Super excited to have you here!

    Hello all

Yay! Welcome! So good to see new faces in the RP community. No doubt you'll find plenty of people willing to help you along your way. You can definitely count me amongst those people (I'm still learning the lore of the place but hey! Study buddies!). Glad to have you with us. I know you'll love it.
  20. Personally, I think this thread should've been locked a couple pages back. It's spiraling down into shit slinging and finger pointing (with a little bit of this in between) because, as Sylas said, there's no discussion here. This thread may have started off with noble intentions, but nothing from here on out is going to help new players decide which server to go to. All this is doing is acting as a public soapbox for people to voice their frustrations. Which, while that's an okay thing...I think this thread has sort of outlived its purpose.
  21. I think that everyone is more than willing to accept the fact that people should have (and what's more, they DO have) the right to choose what server to go to. Straight up. If people want to go to Gilgamesh, please! By all means, go. I have no hard feelings towards Gilgamesh. I'm a little sad to see the community split up, but I have a feeling it'll survive. I think the reason this thread has gone on for 12 pages is because, as you said, Gilgamesh people have been scrambling to come up with reasons that they think are more justifiable than "I just want to do it this way". The easiest way to do that is to say "Well. I have problems with Balmung." Obviously, Balmung people are going to ask what those problems are. And then we have people fumbling around and being defensive and things just snowball from there. TL;DR: Just be honest. Even if your choice makes you unpopular to some people. Nobody will care in two weeks, lol.
  22. lol You're much more of a communal service type of person than I am then. As much as I love Reddit, I don't think I'd ever leave an established and hardcore roleplaying community to cater to a minority of casual roleplayers on another server. Simply because my playstyle leans more towards Balmung. Like I said before. If you want to deliver roleplay to their door, that's very noble of you but...it still seems a bit silly to me. And I'm sorry if that opinion is insulting to anyone, but I can't think of another word to describe it lol. Redditors have the ability to make their own choices, like everyone else. Do they want to play with Reddit friends or do they want to roleplay in an established, heavy roleplaying environment? There's absolutely nothing wrong with making them make that choice. It would be great if we had a big enough community to put a large number of roleplayers on every server that wanted them...the sad fact of the matter is that roleplaying communities usually aren't that big.
