An Awkward Meeting - (CLOSED - Read last post)
Desmond Aryll replied to BlessedSilence's topic in Town Square (IC)
"Asdrellia." He repeated her name, let it hang in the air for a moment. "We won't abandon you," Desmond said, feeling the desire to assuage her fears, "You are not alone, not anymore." The words were said for her benefit but he found that they tasted good in his mouth. Gave him the resolve to move forward with what his logical mind told him was unnecessary trouble. Perhaps he had spent too much time with Delwyn. "Asdrellia," he said her name again, "Please, lower your staff. Lower your staff and tell us what we can do to aid you." -

Desmond glanced at Delwyn. A look passed between them, straight faced to most onlookers but they were quite familiar with each other. We need more info, Desmond's expression said. She's in need of help, Delwyn face shot back. Desmond assented, a relaxation of his face said he agreed. "Please," he began, palms forward, a look of appeal on his face. The staff swung back to his chest. He made no sudden moves, his eyes never left hers. "We are not following you, it is you who sought us out and you have found us." Again he tried to reassure her with a smile, "We've been called Drifters, true enough. My name is Desmond," he bowed his head slightly, "this man is called Delwyn," motioning to Kayle. "And you are?" -

Amazing how he does that. Desmond thought, He should have been a priest, this one. He did see the fear in her eyes however and he found his own, usually carefully locked away emotions trickling to the fore. He stared at the end of the staff pointed directly at his chest but felt no fear, only concern. At the mention of they, he remembered how woefully inadequate their current apartments were. He reassured the Mage with his eyes, offering her the well practiced smile from his youth and slowly turned his attention to the outside. He stepped to the door, hand crossed across his midsection, flirting with the worn leather of his gladius. He scanned the streets. No one. -
He spied her shape as it was framed in the streaming sunlight coming in from the door. Her demeanor was not aggressive and the alarm faded almost as fast as it came. She came into the room, past him, giving him a moment to assess. He sat perfectly still in the dark alcove by the door, careful. She carried a staff, clutched in both hands. Tightly, as if it would fly from her hands of its own accord. A Mage then. He thought, he cleared his throat and began a greeting when she spun, a panicked look on her face, an apology reflexively thrown at him. "Please, it's alright." he said, trying to sound as benign as possible. "It is I who should apologize-" he stood, hands upturned in a gesture of non-aggresion. She retreated a step for every one he took towards her. Nice setup. Thank you and welcome! We're all looking forward to meeting you as well!

We'd love to have you, there's always room for more! Like so many others, I relaly hope you're able to get into G'mesh tomorrow morning and join us! In other news, I've been noodling with some screenshots and some cool artistic filters to get some interesting scenes. Driftwood Coast: The Art of Battle-Craft
Desmond Aryll replied to RaylenorSelzen-akaga's topic in Town Square (IC)
This has inspired me to write my own code. Mayhap Desmond can learn something from Fae after all. Although he will never admit it. -
Xha'li Welcome! You certainly did a more thorough job than I did when I thought up my character. Makes me want to go back in time and try harder. lol Even though I won't run into you (Gil for me) I want to make sure you feel welcome. Most of the time this place is hopping with users but the game itself is monopolizing my own free time like moderation went out of business. Any questions or comments, please don't hesitate to ask away!

Blaetblyss Rostnmerl - Good day to you all!
Desmond Aryll replied to squigly's topic in Welcome Desk
Hi Squigly, Welcome to RPC. Glad you came aboard. Wonderful job on this post. You got style. Blaetblyss is quite the character. I imagine some fun Rp's coming out of her. Foiled ambushes and even a persistent bounty hunter or two on her tail. Sounds great! If you have any questions feel free to ask. We're here to help and support each other. Hope to see you at the Drowned Wench one of these days. -
You have yourself a fabulous idea and I look forward to you performances! You should do reenactments of other poignant FF game moments as "plays" with adjustments here and there to better fit XIV. The possibilities are endless. 0_0

I've been thinking about this too. Being that the RP PvP is not really going to happen within the game's mechanics this seems like a great idea. I'd totally be interested in text-based fights. It's a special kind of fun. I haven't actually done it inside a game before so I don't know how the whole Roll thing works. Without a good relationship beforehand, it would be hard to avoid actual conflicts based on fighting prowess. I don't believe it's interesting for my character to be an all around badass. In fact I think having prevalent weaknesses makes for a much more interesting time. As far as your questions, I haven't heard of anything in particular but it is something I'd like to pursue. This + Rp'd nemeses sounds like a great time.

I'm new to hydaelyn, and need help.
Desmond Aryll replied to Theworkinghours's topic in Welcome Desk
Hi Will, They've announced a big maintenance fix starting tomorrow at 5pm pacific. My hope is that a lot of the issues we are currently having will be alleviated after it is over. So my advice is hang tight until Wednesday morning. Till then, look around this site. I'm sure you'll find a ton of info to get you started. Any questions feel free to ask. -
Been happening to me all weekend.

Wow you've got skills. He's an intimidating fellow.

Hey hey, it's Ququ! Glad you made your way over here. Pull up a tiny chair!

New players will make mistakes, Tank, Arcanist or otherwise. I don't mind the Topaz, I view it in the same way as mages putting an add to sleep. Just another way to hold 'em before we get to them. No big deal. I've played with quite a few Arcanists who swap in/out Emerald and Topaz on the fly depending on the situation. It's just going to take some time to get the majority on board with a new class.

As far as civvies go, I'm a fan of the robe that the Nuhn wears down in Forgotten Springs. I will have this robe. 8-)

Nice pic! Fae's meeting up with Kayle and Desmond was memorable to be sure. Fae is not to be trifled with.

Staying logged in to avoid queues? Don't.

This had been a tough time for everyone. Waiting all this time for the game to launch and these problems pop up. :frustrated: One thing that's important to remember is not to seek ways to alienate other players, singling them out as Afk'ers or something. They are players just like us. And resenting them isn't hurting anyone but the person doing the resenting because let's face it, other players practicing this don't care if we're upset or not. (shrug) They don't even know us. People are people as someone on here said. That's very true. When there is no food people fight over bread. And this is definitely a famine. I'm gonna do myself a favor and try and remember it's just a game. -
Guten Abend, Bonsoir, こんばんは, and Good Evening!
Desmond Aryll replied to Crossarchus's topic in Welcome Desk
Welcome Cross! Glad to have you aboard. Blacksmith, eh? That's sounds really interesting. We need more swords in everyday life. No more lines at the bank! -
My invisible friend doesn't appreciate the implications of your remark.
-
Have faith, guys. Things will improve soon. Looking forward to meting you in person!
-
Yes it was a struggle. lol Bootings and error codes everywhere. Providence provided us 4 Drifters total so we took advantage and got it going. Next time you pop in, we can make it official!

Oddly my back has been feeling more spry lately. Roe enthusiasm isn't all bad. We did postpone to a later date to be determined. So many were locked out. Including Doc. Can't have an inaugural DC event without the Man himself.

Man it's been a trying day. But maybe it's fate telling me to actually eat something.
