Kylin Posted February 2, 2012 Share #1 Posted February 2, 2012 As per the title, which job are you looking forward to most of all? Saw that Zam had this poll and figured it would be interesting to see where Rpers are most gravitating toward. My personal pick at this point in time is black mage. That AF just looks sick! And of course, it fits my character most >.> Link to comment
Forra Posted February 2, 2012 Share #2 Posted February 2, 2012 None of the above! Thanks for adding that option Kylin >.> While I'm fairly excited for the system concept itself, I can't quite see any of my characters being a part of any of the jobs.. Forra I might believe having some of the Dragoon abilities, but I have an immensely hard time picturing him in the job's gear. Meanwhile Taemi.. .. actually you know for some reason I can kinda see her in the White Mage gear for some reason, gladiator primary though she is. Goodness knows though, can't picture her as a Paladin.. So, well, yeah >.> Link to comment
Merri Posted February 2, 2012 Share #3 Posted February 2, 2012 Well, I'll probably be doing Paladin primarily, just because that's what I've been working on setting Merri up with, but Warrior will be an incredibly close second. I'll probably bounce between the two IC, as they're both fitting of him. Far as actual gameplay goes, I'll probably end up doing all seven jobs and their artifact armors to burn time until the next patch if I get bored enough. That, and the achievements. Link to comment
Smiling River Posted February 2, 2012 Share #4 Posted February 2, 2012 I'm similar to Merri, except I want to try Warrior our first before Paladin, just because it seems a little more fitting IC'ly and I don't quite know how it will work as opposed to Paladin, kinda old hat. Link to comment
Kusumura Posted February 3, 2012 Share #5 Posted February 3, 2012 Bard. Definitely a Bard. It has Kusu written all over! Though considering his concept was originally from a DnD Bard... That's not surprising. But the fact that it requires Archer? It's like Square Enix took a look at Kusu's bio' and said, "Now, Kusu's player, here's your bone. It's the biggest bone we're handing out to any of our players! A job/class combination specifically made for YOUR character! Love us once more!" Link to comment
Mho Posted February 3, 2012 Share #6 Posted February 3, 2012 Kind of sad to see no Dancer, but I do love the idea of Bard. ...I just HATE how the costume looks on Miqo'te. Link to comment
Eva Posted February 4, 2012 Share #7 Posted February 4, 2012 White Mage, of course! Commissioned Artwork Link to comment
Gospel Gestalt Posted February 4, 2012 Share #8 Posted February 4, 2012 From the current jobs we have at the moment, I'm looking most forward to Blackmage. The outfit is very fitting for my Characters personality. He hates showing his face, has a bad eye which the hat conveniently covers, and my character has a thing for long coats. The potion belt with the handy dandy spell tome holder just seals the deal. :bounce: However, I am still heart broken to hear that there is no sign of Puppet Master, yet... But oh well~ Guess I'll just keep on waiting till then... [spoil][/spoil] Link to comment
Gerick Posted February 14, 2012 Share #9 Posted February 14, 2012 Definitely Dragoon :jump: followed by :vivi: Black/White Mage :chocobo: Link to comment
Moltove Posted February 18, 2012 Share #10 Posted February 18, 2012 Can anyone explain or give a link to the job system details? Anyways, I'm disappointed there's no assassin or otherwise rogue class... Link to comment
Forra Posted February 24, 2012 Share #11 Posted February 24, 2012 'Thief' has been stated by Yoshida as being part of the longer term considerations, but I believe the suggestion was it would be a Discipline, with Assassin and such like being possible jobs from it and.. yeah, very speculative. Among other things I particularly remember something like 'we do want to add dual-wielding, but we don't know if we want it to be a Gladiator ability or something for a future Thief class'. As for the job system.. well, it's pretty simple, but I'll not link since the details are - until the lodestone update they'll probably drop next week - rather scattered about. 'Long and short of it is it's a specialisation system. You get to a particular level (25-35-ish depending, I think) in the required Disciplines, then do a quest and get given a stone that you equip to activate that job, like how you activate a Discipline by wielding one of its weapons. Jobs don't have levels independent of their associated Discipline, but rather you do quests to unlock their special gear and abilities. They're much more powerful in their specific roles, but have little to no cross-classing ability as do Disciplines. The whole concept is pretty expandable, and the developers have suggested a few times there'll be more Jobs down the line as well as more Disciplines, more than one for each Discipline at that. Gladiator > 'Dark Knight' for instance seems pretty likely from the things have been said about it. Link to comment
Gerick Posted February 24, 2012 Share #12 Posted February 24, 2012 Each job will require you to be 30 in the main class then 15 in a subclass that is needed to unlock it. For example Paladin will require you to be at least 30 in Gladiator and 15 in Conjurer. Link to comment
Moltove Posted March 7, 2012 Share #13 Posted March 7, 2012 Thanks for the info-- I got it all clarified from the Lodestone's recent post on it, too, so thanks! Well, least I know Thief is in the future, and then some. All that's missing from the traditional class system is that and...maybe Red Mage, but the latter of course is more than likely going to be a job, too. Ah well. I guess Paladin and Bard, maybe Dragoon and White Mage Link to comment
