PkThunda Posted May 10, 2015 Share #1 Posted May 10, 2015 Hi guys! I'm sad to say I am still on hiatus at the moment; I have a biopsy surgery scheduled for the 28th and am trying out a billion new pain-killers at the moment, so play time just isn't much in the cards for me. In the mean time, however, I decided to clean up and add some things to my Courtesan Compendium Roleplay guide. Instead of putting it in so many sections of the thread this time, here is the google document instead! Please feel free to comment and ask questions here, as I try to look at the forums at least once a day. The Courtesan Compendium 2.0 2 Link to comment
Lamia Posted May 10, 2015 Share #2 Posted May 10, 2015 Quite well done! It was a pleasure to read and covered pretty much all the bases, even some I didn't even know about before! THank you very much for making the guide, and I hope it helps the role-players in the days to come :3 Link to comment
Momoka Posted May 15, 2015 Share #3 Posted May 15, 2015 great guide! my character Xelha is a courtesan and the amount of people who just call her "stripper" drive me nuts, because shes really truly not one. Link to comment
ShoggMommy Posted May 15, 2015 Share #4 Posted May 15, 2015 I love this guide. I really enjoy the effort you put into this. I really love how these women were respected, strong individuals. I normally don't play these characters, but I might even consider one now. Link to comment
Zyrusticae Posted May 15, 2015 Share #5 Posted May 15, 2015 Wow. I only looked at it for idle curiosity, but now I'm hooked. This is surprisingly fascinating stuff. It turns a lot of what I thought I knew about women in history on their heads. Link to comment
Dravus Posted May 15, 2015 Share #6 Posted May 15, 2015 I've always felt as though there's far too much focus placed upon female companions and not enough on the men. It wasn't too unusual for handsome men to offer their 'services' or company though a lot of people tend to glorify the women doing it instead. The guide is decent though I do hope more people begin to realise that it isn't just women who perform those roles. Even in the present day there's a lot of male escorts who can be hired to attend a dinner party or be intimate company for a single night. In Eorzea I doubt it's much different - especially since sexuality seemingly isn't something that is discriminated against. Cross race relationships, however, do seem to come with negative baggage though that seems more based around long term stuff rather than flings. My own character has been an 'escort' of sorts in the past. He'd make use of his silver tongue, good looks and bedroom capabilities to acquire information from those he managed to seduce. So far I haven't been deemed an 'ERP fiend' for that - but I suppose that has something to do with the fact that I don't ERP at all unless I've known someone for a while and trust them quite a bit. 1 Link to comment

Verilys Posted May 18, 2015 Share #8 Posted May 18, 2015 This is pretty neat. I think it's an interesting read for anyone, even if they (like me) are not actually playing a courtesan! It provides a very thoughtful look at how the various cultures might act in a way I hadn't given much consideration towards. Link to comment
SM Nick Posted May 18, 2015 Share #9 Posted May 18, 2015 This information can be useful to me since my character is a kunoichi. She can be a courtesan to get up close to her enemies and kill them lol. Link to comment
