Need a bit of help.

What's up, guys?

As everyone knows, we're about to hit off Heavensward in five days, so it's  time to bring it up now; I had an idea, and I'm not sure how to go about this.

Basically, as I've gone around the forums, Memenu's physical vessel is dying. The reason being that because of fights against the likes of Nael, Vishnap and Midgardsormr (going by a lore/gameplay point here as Midgardsormr and Vishnap are extremely powerful in-universe, but their fights are a bit lacking in the difficulty department, and Nael is Nael.) has caused her to use more aether than her body can control.

With being forced to head north into coerthas and into Ishgard, her body's at the point of falling apart and the only way to continue on is either allow her vessel to die (and her conciousness being thrown back into the aether) [or] find a new, more capable vessel.

My idea is that due to a primal's tendencies for self-preservation, Memenu would go with the latter. The question is how could I implement this into her somehow obtaining a new body, specifically that of a Xaela?

But... your character wasn't the one who fought any of those? Vishap is the only one that's possible, because pretty much anybody could have been at the Steps of Faith, but the WoL was the one who killed Nael and battled Midgardsormr at the wreck of Agrias.

Roll 1d12: Memenu's new physical form is explained by:

1. Completely unexplained. She is simply ripped into a new vessel. She's as confused as anyone.

2. A cult of lalafell worshippers.

3. Garlean experimentation.

4. Beast tribe ritual practices.

5. Voidsent machinations.

6. One of Verad Bellveil's plot devices.

7. A final fight with a dragon warping her form.

8. Ascian intrigues.

9. A long-term financial scheme on the part of Lolorito.

10. Improper handling of Zantetsuken.

11. Godbert Manderville screws up somehow.

12. Roll twice.

I have a hard time understanding why she wouldn't rather return to the aether to be reformed eventually as opposed to being somehow transferred to a less powerful, non-Lalafellin body?

While this is correct, the warrior of light didn't do these things solo. Either way, Memenu's been 'in-dev' for ages, and I'm still trying to set things in concrete, so to speak, however, it's not as easy as I had originally thought, but has not deterred me.

-edit-

That's the thing, Faye; her follower's body, acting as vessel isn't strong enough for the rigor's she's faced. (this also makes a convenient plotpoint for the use of a Fantasia.)

According to cutscenes, they did for Nael and Midgardsormr.

True. One problem I keep noting is that I keep thinking it's singleplayer, so I need to work on that. Either way, with that said, work is going to continue to make it more appropriate.

Basically, I haven't legitimately roleplayed in about 10 or so years, and while that's not an excuse, I'll need to obviously work on this more.

Sorry for the mild Hiatus, guys. I was getting a feel for my Au Ra by using her emotes and whatnot.

Surprising that Au Ra - of all races - has ridiculously good anger management skills (taken from /angry and /furious respectively).

Now that I'm back, it's time to get to work on a new backstory.

Since the picture is 1920 x 1080, I wrapped it in spoiler tags.

As you can see, I based the colors of her off of Memenu. Her name right now is "Viola Dotharl". With that said, I'll continue to post as I throw around a few ideas in my head for her.

Two ideas are Memenu 'obtaining' a new body or something that more appropriately fits current known lore.

or something that more appropriately fits current known lore.

You know, being a completely normal, non-demigod au ra would fit current lore quite well.

Oh man, I actually giggled because of how I read your post. A giggle I needed too.

Yeah, I probably [should] do that. The hurdles needed to jump through just to make the Primal thing remotely viable is a headache in itself.

With that said, I don't believe "Viola" would be a proper name for a Xaela due to their naming conventions.

i know! she was repeatedly face licked by a giant 20 foot tall werewolf and fled to her new body to escape the epic levels of drool... no wait that was my wife's charcter in GW2 sorry lol

most logical reasons would require that it was necessary for either survival, saving another, or to further her own agenda in some way.

after motive is found the how becomes much easier to come up with.

Well, with the fact that her body was dying from the need to push the original vessel past its mortal limits, that'd be the best way to do it.

not too familiar with lore here yet, but the Au Ra seem draconic or demonic in origin, maybe they can handle the etheric flow much better than normal.  Would make sense as to why she would pick that race to body jump to.

Or for a more touching way.. she could have been helped by a Au Ra as she hit the point of no return and inadvertently body snatched the poor girl.  that would give you some intersting rp points, either guilt/responsibility for the death of the girls self. or if you wanted a more interesting path, have the young girl's self being preserved by your character.  Could be interesting ever see the Tok'Ra from SG-1?

either way tons of ways to do it, some could add a twist to your characters status quo if desired.

Nope, Au Ra are just as biological as any other race.

They have horns, but hey, Miqo'te have tails.

No crazy demonic origins involved.

SE did say that the Au Ra have a "demonic" theme, but they're likely about as "normal" as any other race.

Despite having horns and scales, they're not dragon-like, much to the dismay of the possibly racist Ishgardian seeking to kill everything that could be related to a dragon.

Work in progress bio:

Viola Dorthal. All she knew was her name, a name that was one-half slave, one-half her tribe. She couldn't remember her true name anymore nor her "old life" as a child other than the constant violence she was so used to.

A slave to violence. That's what she was, but she was as much its mistress as she was its slave. How strange, she thought, that she'd end up becoming a literal slave at the turn of her ninth summer when she had found and decided to kill a poor jewelcrafter and his wife.

Make no mistake, she had killed them but in turn she was bested by a passing Dark Knight, attacking him with such a ferver and sustaining wounds that made him impressed and instead of killing her, he subdued her and as punishment forced her to wear the brooch that crafter had finished making for her before his death. Yes, that was as far as she could remember. The first time she was called "Viola". A constant reminder of the Jewelcrafter and his wife that she had murdered for the sake of doing so.

She had tried constantly at first to break away from her captor and every single time he would stop her, one time even purposely breaking one of her legs so she couldn't run. He never tortured her and he always treated her sternly, like a father to a misbehaving child. She had hated him. She liked killing and the one time she had gotten the chance to kill him in his sleep, she wouldn't. She couldn't. During this time with the knife in her hand, she became hurt, the want to kill the very man who had "captured" her in the first place not there.

The next few years, the Dark Knight taught her how to use a greatsword, knowing full well she could never turn against him, even if she wanted to. How to channel her murderous intent into a focused art instead of just for pleasure. He trained her down to the very basics of even interacting with people, forcing her to act as a "princess" should. Of course, she never understood why she should act like royalty, but he had made it perfectly clear that she would act lady like or she'd be punished for it.

Of course, he never said she couldn't kill others, but he made it one of his core teachings that death were for those who deserved it. "Not the innocent", he said. "You will kill who I say, and you will not object." At this point, they had a bond, even despite their differences, and how much she still showed dislike for him at times, she could only nod in agreement.

On her fifteenth summer, she was finally free. Free to do whatever she pleased. With a smile, she held the very crystal he had used as a Dark Knight, his training etched completely into the fiber of her being. Free to roam. Free to kill. Or so she had thought. The first person she had come across was a lalafell. A plainsfolk. Before the little merchant could cry for help, she unsheathed her zweihander, only for the blade to literally stop within ilms of his face.

Before she could react, the now middle-aged Dark Knight, who had somehow trailed her dropped her onto the ground, disarming her at the same time. She didn't remember much after that, having felt the blow of the side of the blade just before being knocked out from the impact.

It has been four years since then. No more the disobedient child, she took a deep breath. The Dark Knight who had captured and raised her was now proud of her as she bowed politely. The young Au Ra, now grown up, had become what the Dark Knight called a "perfect princess", she followed everything he said, practically being with him every chance she had until one day where he had handed her the very crystal she had tried to steal before. "Go forth and make me proud, daughter." It was the first time she cried, and not long after, she set out to Ishgard like he had requested, to find the history of the group known as 'Dark Knights.'
