Lynilia Posted July 1, 2015 Share #1 Posted July 1, 2015 Hiyya Im trying to give my character a second name and her backstory is as an orphan from Ul'dah so i was thinking of giving her something like a bastards name but cant really come up with something that fits with Ul'dahn lore, anyone have any suggestions? My friend is also trying to come up with a second name to do with "breaking fate" as he puts it so any help in that as well would be awesome Thanks Link to comment
C'kayah Polaali Posted July 1, 2015 Share #3 Posted July 1, 2015 I don't think there's any canon standard for "bastard's names". Here are a few things you might consider: Mother's name - She's a bastard, not an orphan, so why not give her the same last name as her mom? Father's name - why not? If C'kayah had an illegitimate child, there's no reason she couldn't be C'saber Kayah... Profession - Say Saber becomes a blacksmith. She could be Saber Smith. Self-created - Saber Starlörd sounds pretty badass Pseudonym - Blade Cutts - you see what I did there? Adoptive name - Saber is adopted by C'kayah, so she becomes Saber Kayah. Orphanage name - Saber is thrown out in the streets and taken in by the Lulubelle orphanage, becoming Saber Lulubelle. Title - Maybe Saber just goes as Saber, and you repurpose the last name to be a title she gives herself: Saber Boldaxe. Link to comment
Lynilia Posted July 2, 2015 Author Share #4 Posted July 2, 2015 Hi again Thats really cool info! thanks! Should probably mention i forgot to add the actual details Its not Sabers name i'm keeping. Im planning on changing her name to RP as Minfilia's younger sister, Lynilia. Problem is though nobody knows minfilia's heritage other than her adoptive miqo'te mother. Hence why i wanted to make a character with an adoptive/bastard name. To suggest they were seperated in Ul'dah and Lynilia either had an adoptive name to do with Ul'dahn lore or she had some form of a bastards name. Link to comment
Braise Posted July 2, 2015 Share #6 Posted July 2, 2015 I wouldn't recommend being such a close relative to a main character. Later on, that important main character's story could quickly change in a plot twist, and your character's backstory could end up head-over-heels and all sorts of screwed up. Not telling you what to do, just trying to say be careful what or whom you RP. 1 Link to comment
Virella Posted July 2, 2015 Share #7 Posted July 2, 2015 Really would help if you told us what race/subrace! And I feel the need to echo to not roleplay someone related to one of the main characters. Link to comment
