only one RP server

So, is it true that there is only the one RP server, Balmung?

It's so hard to get in there.

Most MMO's I've played there was usually at least two, one NA side and the other EU side.

I need my RP fix on FF but it seems I won't

There are no official RP servers in FFXIV.

 

There are a few burgeoning communities on other servers as well as a fairly significant community on Gilgamesh.

As Kellach mentioned, there's no offical server. While Balmung is the most populated for RP'ers, Gilgamesh is the second biggest, and Jenova has a growing RP community from what I've heard.

 

There are a few RP'ers on Moogle and Famfrit too, and scattered elsewhere, but sadly couldn't point you in their direction.

Balmung's the biggest, followed by Gilgamesh. There's a few smaller groups of role-players situated on other smaller servers but generally people tend to bite the bullet and flock to the larger servers simply because there's usually something for everybody. Smaller servers have their own appeal, mind you, but in my experience they risk drying up quite quickly if multiple role-players fall out, transfer or take a break from the game.

There's a thread here which members sometimes post on when Balmung is open, and also some tips here on getting into it. Because of Heavensward more players have been logging in and out, and members returning, which is why it's been closed so much lately. But it was open earlier today so that's a good sign.

It really only ever comes open at the wee hours of the morning, like 5-7am CST.  It also is generally open for about an hour or so after maintenance.

There is Gilgamesh but that one is very full too, due to it being the FFXIV's subreddit of choice and probably some other communities as well. At this point, the RP community in FFXIV and RPC would benefit from establishing a new community on a lower/medium pop server. There have been a lot of folks popping in to advertise for emerging RP communities in various other servers, but from what I can tell nothing's really taken off.

 

Who knows if anything will take off? 

If we were to stop having a new person come in every week to advertise a new RP community server, and organize something as a group, perhaps...?
