That Guy Posted September 7, 2015 Share #1 Posted September 7, 2015 Does anyone know anything about them? I was really hoping this new expansion would address them a bit more but I haven't seen anything. I rp'd one long before the expansion thinking my character is supposed to be a sort of hunter of heretics. They're the more shadowy aspect of Ishgard that gets the job done at all costs so that the See doesn't have to dirty their hands. This is all I have on them and that's 1.0 stuff. https://wiki.ffxiv-roleplayers.com/pages/Ishgard http://www.ffxivinfo.com/items/questitems.php?item=faces-of-mercy-medallion-7305 http://chaosreapersreborn.myfreeforum.org/index.php?component=content&topicid=125 Has anyone else found anything? And if not then maybe something that is similar and can take its place? Any help would be super appreciated and if anyone else is rping this I would love to get in contact with you! Thanks for all the help! Link to comment
X'raemha Posted September 7, 2015 Share #2 Posted September 7, 2015 I don't have an answer for you but...it's an intriguing idea. I would be interested in an answer also, if only for personal OOC knowledge. I imagine some people out there RP this sort of thing. Since I don't personally do much with Ishgard RP unfortunately I don't know any solid direction to point you in. Link to comment
V'aleera Posted September 7, 2015 Share #3 Posted September 7, 2015 Hard to say. It would be a good question to ask the devs at a panel. Link to comment
Seraphine Felstar Posted September 7, 2015 Share #4 Posted September 7, 2015 My character has had dealings with them in the past during 1.0. They were a very secretive and had influence in Ishgard. I believe they also have had dealings with the maelstrom. If you are really interested in them, take a look at the 1.0 archer quests. Its seems like SE has all but abandoned this storyline, but its good material so I still use it in RP. gOrGAXkNS2w Link to comment
That Guy Posted September 7, 2015 Author Share #5 Posted September 7, 2015 Interesting. So they're not loyal to Ishgard but they're still clearly used by them. Not exactly what I was going for when I made my character more of a heretic hunter loyal to the holy see but then maybe I can still make it work. If not, don't suppose anyone knows if Ishgard has something like a spy network in Eorzea so that they can hunt down and return heretics? I'll make it work regardless but you guys are helping me be lazy lol! Link to comment
Berrod Armstrong Posted September 7, 2015 Share #6 Posted September 7, 2015 ...A Company-mate of mine had actually run a long story arc featuring an Ishgardian group of this name! I can probably poke him to take a look in here and see if he can help you out with anything! Link to comment
That Guy Posted September 7, 2015 Author Share #7 Posted September 7, 2015 That would be incredibly helpful! Thank you all so much for the responses! I was nervous about posting in the RPC. I tend to lurk more often than not. Also found this for anyone whose interested: http://chrysaliswiki.com/quests:ffxiv-into-the-dark Play by play of the quest line in 1.0 that deals with the Faces of Mercy. So far my theory is that they are sort of their own militia group within Ishgard. They are clearly not publicly approved by the City State if you go by the archer quest (thanks for that btw!) but the link above suggests that they are regularly used by the City State. If I had to guess I would say they are more often than not tasked with the jobs Ishgard would rather not acknowledge. So for example: say a member of a noble family becomes a heretic. That's embarrassing and rather making a big deal about it they hire a FoM to deal with the situation quietly. Of course this is all just guess work. I would love to hear any other opinions on the subject - even if it is just head cannon! And since I'm already rambelling, does anyone know if Ishgard has a 'hunter' group? Like a group specifically tasked with bringing back heretics who've escaped Halone's justice by fleeing to somewhere else in Eorzea? Link to comment
