EternalKindred Posted January 23, 2016 Share #1 Posted January 23, 2016 Salutations and warm wishes! After sitting in Ul'dah for a few weeks I noticed there has been a distinct lack of magickal-related characters. (You have your noblemen, noblewomen, courtesans and the like - but where's the wizards and sorcerers!? :?) so I figured I'd post on the forums again to try and find fellow Mage nerds and make connections to friends and RPCs who like magick, magitek or something beyond the normal sword and spear! Any of the magick classes/jobs welcome! A bit about the character who I'm making connections to: - He is Sharlayan, born and raised in the motherland of the Old World, knowledge and magick are more precious than gold. - A "mage nerd" who is interested in all things magickal or supernatural and loves meeting people of similar interests (magitek, magick or even a regular scholar). - He's a fairly laid back character who likes to learn everything about everything if he can. He can be distant and cold though if you catch his interest, you are just as likely to have a new friend. Particularly if you're equally or even more experienced in something than he is. Those are the tips I can give as to the character, if you RP a Sharlayan you may even have more story and perhaps know of him already. But thank you for reading this far and I hope to be able to meet some Mage buddies, the nerds needs to unite! 8-) Link to comment
FreelanceWizard Posted January 23, 2016 Share #2 Posted January 23, 2016 I mean, there is a whole FC of mages... In all seriousness, feel free to look L'yhta up or any of the other members of Mysterium if you're interested in magic RP. We even have magic class on Mondays now. As it turns out, most of our characters tend to have particularly negative opinions of Ul'dah, which is why we're rarely there IC unless we have to be. Link to comment
Jana Posted January 23, 2016 Share #3 Posted January 23, 2016 It seems like laypeople in the setting don't know all that much about magic. Combine that with how people seem to favor playing "everyday folks" and mages RPing in the open feels very rare, even in crowded places like Ul'dah. Link to comment

Khunbish Avagnar Posted January 23, 2016 Share #5 Posted January 23, 2016 Aiswynd Arulaq is a thaum studying in the Ossuary at the moment, although he avoids the Quicksand. Then there is Vael'a Ruhne, a magitek machinist, but he's rarely around the quicksand too. Both open for RP Link to comment
As'elena Posted January 23, 2016 Share #6 Posted January 23, 2016 I have a studious alt that would get along with other magic users! Sadly, I do not have a lot of time to play her. Pfft, and if you think there's a lack of Mages, try to imagine how I feel about Paladins or otherwise knightly characters! I only meet people that are any of the things you mentioned, scoundrels and well... MAGES! Link to comment
Valence Posted January 23, 2016 Share #7 Posted January 23, 2016 My character is not a mage per se, but she is supposed to have a background in conjury (that often leads to catastrophe). She is also a Hearer, but she is unlikely to speak about that to anybody.. In any case, any kind of obscure magicks and stuff like that might pique her interest. Feel free to poke me ingame. Aurou Posted January 23, 2016 Share #8 Posted January 23, 2016 Oh, oh! Your character is -very- similar to mine. Feel free to hit me up! Aurou is a Conjurer and journalist from Sharlayan proper, very easy to get along with. She's often found around Ul'dah and recently Ishgard. We can work some sort of background out if you'd like, she currently has no connections whatsoever back home - few people touch Sharlayan lore.. Link to comment
LadyRochester Posted January 23, 2016 Share #9 Posted January 23, 2016 I'll gladly rp with you! My character is a fanatic mage, and I am currently working on a plot that is extremely magic-centric. If you're interested, shoot me a PM! Link to comment
EternalKindred Posted January 23, 2016 Author Share #10 Posted January 23, 2016 Thank you for the responses! The energy in the replies, especially "Fanatical Mage" and a Hearer, a Magitek specialist and all the rest - WHERE HAVE YOU PEOPLE BEEN IN MY RP LIFE?! Link to comment
Edelirium Posted January 23, 2016 Share #11 Posted January 23, 2016 Naoh is a black mage through and through. Perhaps I'll bump into you at some point, as she does tend to favour Ul'dah, herself. Link to comment
