Yssen Posted January 1, 2013 Share #1 Posted January 1, 2013 So. A while back (and I mean a long long time ago) this idea wormed into the brains of me and some people that I regularly RP with. Namely, that every character has three defining songs to them. A theme song with lyrics, and instrumental theme song, and a song that the character would sing if they the world was a musical. I thought it might be fun to take this premise and share with one another our findings. Maybe even discuss a bit. Feel free to post links. Leave us get musically inclined. Oh! There is a 4th song! What your character's anime theme would be, but it is a side not mostly for fun. Anywho, I'll get zee ball rolling with these two. Instrumental Theme - Norwegian Pirate, Two Steps from Hell Lyrical Theme - Nemo, Nightwish http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fj5X6om515Y If the world was suddenly a musical - Snow (Hey oh.), Red Hot Chili Peppers. Changed this to reflect ARR. Whee. Instrumental Theme - First of the Year (Equinox), Skrillex Lyrical Theme - 7 Devils, Florence + The Machine http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HjIwKzBg0aI If the world was suddenly a musical - Cosmic Love, Florence + The Machine (Do not think this needs much context. Heh.) Okay. Your turn. Go! Link to comment
Rhostel Posted January 2, 2013 Share #2 Posted January 2, 2013 This reminded me to put together a playlist for Rhostel. I often do that for my characters, just hadn't gotten around to her. No, I won't share the list, it has 124 songs currently, and I'm not sure it's finished. Anyway, pared down that list to figure this out. Went with all Australian artists, because I can and it bloody well works. The singers all being female, though, was nothing but pleasant happenstance. There were certainly songs with male singers I considered, and they were eliminated for other reasons. Also, I choose to interpret the thing about an anime theme to be a song to use in an AMV focusing on the character. Because that makes more sense than the literal. Instrumental - Young Bodies Heal Quickly, Regurgitator Unfortunately, I can't find a proper version of this to link. Hrrngh. There's a version with talking all over it and one from a gig in the middle of a long video on YouTube if you really want to get a listen, though. Lyrical - The Start of War, Clare Bowditch & The New Slang Can't explain it any better than the lyrics do themselves. Musical - Cinders, Sarah Blasko Picture her singing it around the middle of the period between EoA and ARR. AMV - The Fight, Sia It's a fighty song, but hopeful, upbeat and joyous! Oh yes we stand together! Link to comment
Eva Posted January 2, 2013 Share #3 Posted January 2, 2013 Lyrical Theme Song: Tarja Turunen - Damned and Divine Instrumental Theme Song: Sanctuary of Zi'Tah - Final Fantasy XI TuvxcpQ-veg I admit I don't really watch much anime so I'm not sure what would fit. Perhaps someone else has some idea. Link to comment
Folken Posted January 2, 2013 Share #4 Posted January 2, 2013 Interesting topic, suppose I'll contribute for my ol' Lalafell. Instrumental - Lyrical - Suddenly, Muscial! - (Drinkin' and Dancin' in a lovely pub or tavern, with no care for the 'morrow.) Alt. Musical Piece - (Another prime pick, no context needed.) Animu Piece - Yep. That should do it I think. Link to comment
TheLastCandle Posted January 22, 2013 Share #5 Posted January 22, 2013 I always enjoy topics like this. Fun to think about it, and when you find that perfect song it always helps me to get in character for RP. Well, here goes: Lyrical - Instrumental - If the world were a musical.. Tarot - "Ghosts of Me" Anime theme - Abingdon Boys School - "Nephilim" No anime I'm aware of has actually used it as a theme song, but a Teveriel anime might. Link to comment
Mtoto Wamoto Posted February 20, 2013 Share #6 Posted February 20, 2013 Stumbled across this gem of a thread and decided to throw in my character Instrumental: Lyrical: "Deep in the ocean, dead and cast away Where innocence is burned in flames A million mile from home, I'm walking ahead I'm frozen to the bones, I am... A soldier on my own, I don't know the way I'm riding up the heights of shame I'm waiting for the call, the hand on the chest I'm ready for the fight, and fate The sound of iron shocks is stuck in my head, The thunder of the drums dictates The rhythm of the falls, the number of dead's The rising of the horns, ahead From the dawn of time to the end of days I will have to run, away I want to feel the pain and the bitter taste Of the blood on my lips, again This deadly burst of snow is burning my hands, I'm frozen to the bones, I am A million mile from home, I'm walking away I can't remind your eyes, your face" Anime: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8z_hCwrNcLs Musical: Link to comment
Vareal Posted February 20, 2013 Share #7 Posted February 20, 2013 This looked like fun and I immediately knew which three songs I would choose for Isaac. Theme song w/ lyrics: 1EWcqrYV77U So young, so Brazen, so Unholy. I come to you in painted skies. Your broken saint, your ancient story. The living challenge to their lies. Trapped in the cold outside, There ain't no shelter. And they wanna force my hand, Until I... Take what I wanted, And break all the lies, And defeat the f*ckin' liars. Smash all the temples, And crawl through the rubble, And cry to the fallen. I'm the last of my kind. I'm the last of my kind, Still standing on the wall. A wolf alone upon the hillside, I live on what they throw away. I go to sleep behind the eight ball, I live to fight for one more day. I'm trapped in the cold outside, There ain't no shelter. And they wanna force my hand, Until I... Take what I wanted, And break all the lies And defeat the f*cking liars. Smash all the temples, And crawl through the rubble, And cry to the fallen. Take what I wanted, And break all the lies, And defeat the f*cking liars. Smash all the temples, And crawl through the rubble, And cry to the fallen. I'm the last of my kind. I'm the last of my kind, Still standing on the wall. The Instrumental side: qeWTsbkw57E ...and a song to sing: IiESgYr35gA Link to comment

Deirdre Posted February 21, 2013 Share #12 Posted February 21, 2013 I love threads like this but Deir's music changes so much depending on her mood/situation, so I did my best ^-^ Instrumental: Two Steps From Hell - Everlasting r2BZP83NMXk Lyrical Theme: Pendulum - Witchcraft ogMNV33AhCY Lyrics: It’s in your eyes, a colour fade out Looks like a new transition It starting up and shaking your ground Turning your head to see a new day calling Does it feel like a head to lean on? A snapshot from where you were born I’m looking for your hand in the rough You’re caught in the wire Well, I’ll lift you out Leading on the action Caught in a cell phones' rays Bleeding on the sofa Staring at the wayside He’s coming and she knows it Even though she knows why Footsteps in the hallway Girl you haven’t got time You gotta get out Go far away [x2] Darkness in the bedroom Maybe she's resting up Maybe she was out late Just come back from the club I can’t hear her breathing Something doesn’t seem right Killer in the hallway We’re living on a set time We gotta get out Go far away [x2] Musical Theme: Blackmore's Night - Empty Words GICcYSVNBT8 Lyrics: I have heard that eyes can reflect the soul And pictures tell a thousand stories But when I look at you Why don't I feel it's true There's so much said in empty words There are people talking everywhere I look No one saying what they mean Still they talk anyway When there's nothing to say There's so much said in empty words I've heard it all so many times I still try to believe But you give it away With the things you don't say There's so much said in empty words I've heard it all so many times I still try to believe But you give it away With the things you don't say There's so much said in empty words You've listened, but you never heard There's so much said in empty words Link to comment

Ryanti Posted February 24, 2013 Share #14 Posted February 24, 2013 Seeing a lot of excellent music choices here. So, I get to paint my character in a picture with song? Sounds amazing. Let me take a shot at it then. I'll try to capture all of his moods and feelings. I'll try to capture all of his moods and feelings. Le Cheavlier D'Eon theme? Excellent choice. My own for Quarimar would be... ARGH too many to choose from! Instrumental (wait for 1:05 before closing it at least ) This I imagine is more of an "in town" theme, the rise and fall of voices speaking out with his own creeping up from time to time only to fade back out. [video=youtube] Instrumental singular, when out seeing the world? I prefer a more meandering piece. [video=youtube] Lyrical [video=youtube] Anime Theme Song [video=youtube] Excellent idea, hrm, now I want to listen to more... Link to comment
TheLastCandle Posted February 25, 2013 Share #16 Posted February 25, 2013 Weird. Most of the songs I posted a couple of weeks ago have already been removed from YouTube. Ah well. The "anime opening" one was "Nephim" by abingdon boys school. I literally cannot find that song elsewhere, so here's the one I almost chose: RrMVte7EfQ0 Link to comment
