The Order of Ouroboros began as a secret society of mages. Forced at first to operate underground by the social climate, their meetings took place beneath the cloak of night, behind locked doors. As generations passed, and memory of the Great Flood faded, the Order became bolder, but never stepped fully from the shadows. They exist today as a whisper uttered only under moonlight. Their hand is invisible, but ever-present. Wherever magic is abused, or promising mages require guidance, the agents of Ouroboros travel. And in this age of Primals and war, their presence is needed.

 

Modern Incarnation

Today the Ouroboros exist as a secret society. Each of its members carries an enchanted item, of which no two are alike. These magical trinkets function like linkpearls, allowing the owner to communicate with the greater network of associates.

 

With the use of primal and other esoteric magicks, becoming more widespread in recent times, the purview of Ouroboros has expanded beyond simply safeguarding magic. They now hunt and destroy unstable elements, investigate mysterious happenings of a magical nature, and secure assets that might serve to facilitate the group’s goals.

 

The Aims of Ouroboros

• Hunt and destroy/secure unstable elements, i.e. forbidden magic not safe in anyone’s hands etc. 
  
• Handle disturbances or instances of strange magical happenings i.e. voidsent, taint, trouble using magicks etc. 
  
• Aid and nurture mages’ growth, to become responsible but ambitious and driven in their studies of the arcane arts
  
• Protect old and discover new knowledge regarding the magicks and disciplines of magic, uncovering hidden history and experimenting with new styles and arcane arts
  
• Provide a network for mages across Eorzea in the form of the secret society to communicate and connect

Located in the Goblet, Ward 10, Plot 12, the house is filled with delights for mages. Places to quietly read and research and meet fellow-minded casters. We're not open to the public in character, but feel free to have a quick OOC snoop around if you're in the area!

Oh but you can! Joining the FC is not a mandatory thing, it'd be nice, sure and you get a nice easy teleport to our house, but being a member of the linkshell you have all the same priviledges and access to roleplay. The secret society is based on using the linkshell to communicate so, yeah, being just a LS member is totally fine. If finding time to roleplay along with your FC activities is difficult, then I understand. Thanks for the reply!

A lots been going on within the Order of Ouroboros, a bunch of new faces have joined our ranks and we've settled into our new headquarters comfortably. It's a good thing we have been recruiting, as there has been a lot of work for us to do already, including but not limited to fighting a Morbol after stealing its flower, hiring a thief to track down a valuable weapon, and trying to exorcise a demon horse.

Order of Ouroboros managed to conclude one of their missions that they have slowly been working on for the past couple of Moons. Who knew stealing artefacts could be so hard? Luckily most of the crew got out unscathed, although there was a little vomit and a few punches taken to the face.

[align=center]Yo! The Order of Ouroboros has been up to its usual antics, doing... magical shizzle whizzle to put it simply. The most recent event involved the crew heading to Coerthas Central Highlands to collect water. It might not sound the most exciting, but for one of our members' studies it is crucial and we offered to help. Splitting off into pairs, we trekked around the Coerthas wilds and searched for water.

Turns out, collecting running water in a frozen place is quite difficult, but we managed to collect six samples for our friend. Mission successful, we went back to our home in the Goblet to have a drink and heal our frostbitten toes.

In recent events, the Order of Ouroboros were investigating reports of mages acting suspiciously, rumours of them using the illegal art of the Black to summon voidsent and drain aether from Hydaelyn. The Order rushed to put a stop to this, ready to teach the possibly misguided mages or at worst, put them down. Recruiting Ruran Vas into their ranks and gaining the help of two Malqir Xaela, the group was able to track them down and solve the issue rather successfully and with little bloodshed, surprisingly!

Howdy folks! It's October already, time flies by so fast. Thought I would update this thread with a bit of news concerning our ongoing plots and share some pictures! 

 

Our regular meet-ups every Sunday always bring a few new faces as well as our regulars, and we always end up arguing discussing about some silly nonsense intriguing goings on in Eorzea. The Order organised a plan to summon a voidsent, got grossed out by news of a certain 'green rot', argued about Tak stealing something... again and put together a trial of their arcane abilities!

This time the Order was dragged into a sordid affair by the Ossuary, about a green rot plague  and a lot of shady dealings, extortion, and human misery. It is only fair to say that some of them probably already regret agreeing to get their feet in such a nasty mess, but heh, their job is not supposed to be for the faint of heart... isn't it, right?

 

And this is only the beginning, since they seem to have been taken for fools and ambushed for good measure.

Today, the Order of Ouroboros decided to take a break from rotten diseases and voidsent goo monsters and headed to the hot springs. After chatting with an overly friendly Mamool Ja, some relaxed in the springs whilst others simply tried and enjoy whatever peace and quiet they got. Here's some pictures of the fun!

Hi folks! Hope everyone had a Happy New Years and Happy Holidays and all that jazz. Just posting a little update as we're now getting back into the swing of things now that the holiday-craziness has settled and everyone's done seeing their families and getting crunk and opening presents. 

 

The first roleplay event of the year involved the Order beating the shit out of each other... it was totally a team-building exercise and not an excuse to work out some tensions! Some noses were broken, others were tickled into submission and others simply sat down and gave up, but much fun was had.

Greetings, it is time for another monthly update! The Order of Ouroboros is busy as heck, we have plots galore and many fresh faces joining these past few weeks.

 

The Order currently faces peril from many different sources, first being a potential unknown enemy out to erase them from existence. A thoroughly planned ambush targeting the sect of mages took them by surprise, and after managing to fight their way out, it has left them all looking over the shoulder wondering just who on Hydaelyn have they fucked over now.

 

If it’s not mysterious enemies, it’s the Order itself proving to be a problem. Madoc, their shirtless hunk of a Xaela mercenary has managed to bind himself to a cursed sword and it has become a race against time to find a way to sever the bond before real harm comes before him… or his allies. The stress of all the potential murdering(s) has created a lot of tension amongst the Order members, particularly the leadership. Hopefully, they will soon rekindle those bonds and come together to put the end to their struggles.

 

Whilst everyone’s off arguing and touching things they shouldn’t, Sophiane, one of the newer recruits, has taken it upon herself to invite some of the more magically talented on an expedition to explore the Sil’dah ruins after discovering secret tunnels. With the potential of finding undiscovered relics and knowledge, the Order has gladly funded the expedition and offered their aid to help. So that’s something to actually look forward to!

 

Behind the scenes, we had a small break in recruitment to settle in our new members and get through our backlog of apps. I’m happy to announce we are now open again and we’ll be glad to take on a few more members to round us off. We’ve grown bigger and closer, and we’re looking to expand our time for casual RPing and PvEing. We are looking to farm birbs together shortly, it may be a disaster. Or it may be the greatest thing ever and you’ll see the OoO lot cruising around on their majestic steeds.

Happy March everyone! Time for another update with some Order of Ouroboros news.

 

We’ve wrapped up one of our ongoing plotlines, the Curse of Malcontent. It ended in an epic battle and love triumphed over evil, and our lovable asshole mercernary/bartender Madoc was reunited with his dear Arshtat. The Order can all breath a sigh of relief and hope they never see another cursed weapon again… :3c The full story, lots of well-written posts and glorious art and screenshots about it can be found on our Tumblr.

Even with one of our major plotlines wrapping, there’s no break for the Order just yet. More trips to the Sil’dah Ruins, something something voidsent, possibly dragons and a Beach Episode™  are all planned for the Order shortly!

[align=left]It was the Order of Ouroboros's anniversary this week! A year ago, we were simply a three man group meeting in a tiny hovel in Eastern Thanalan, and now we're twenty odd people strong with a house of our own and so many stories to tell. I want to say a big thank you to everyone's who has taken part and helped us along the way. You all shaped what the Order is today. Here's to another year of great fun and many horse memes!

 

Okay, enough of the fluffy stuff and back to business. The gang plunged... literally, into the wild of Coerthas. They faced a fearsome foe, a very angry dragon that was displeased that it's slumber had been disturbed. In it's maw was a precious magical relic used by heretics, and the Order did their best to fell the beast and retrieve it. One of their newest recruits took a nasty bite but managed to get out of it still walking, whilst a couple of our regulars fell into icy depths and their lives almost taken from them. It was a dramatic event, but a successful one in the end.

Howdy folks! Time for yet another update from the Order of Ouroboros. We've all been enjoying Stormblood, many of us are leveling the heck out of samurai and red mage, whilst others focus on their gathering and crafting classes. We've been dabbling in the new Primal Extremes and running Omega together, so much PvE! 

 

Now that completing the MSQ is over for most people, we're getting back into the roleplay aspect of our linkshell, and boy, do we have some stuff lined up. In the next month or two, we'll be starting a couple of heavy plotlines for our members to sink their teeth into. In the meanwhile, we've been plotting revenge, stabbing each other, exploring many caves, and of course bullying their glorious leader, just to name a few.
