Trying (and failing) to create a Garlean Army rank/organizational chart

OK GUISE I really suck at this sort of stuff, but from the lorebook, we have a juicy table outlining upwards of over FIFTY sample positions from the Garlean social hierarchy, with DESCRIPTIONS. This is more than the one in the Great Gubal Library NM, as it actually outlines what each position entails. Has everything from military, medical/engineering specialists, bureaucrats/politicians, and citizens.

Focusing purely on the military ranks outlined, I am trying to create an easy-to-understand rank/position chart from it. However, I keep scrapping it and starting again, but the biggest thing of all, is that I have absolutely 0 photoshop skills in building a table/chart. The idea is that it would show what each rank does and how it fits into the higher order. Perhaps you can help! So...

A Legion has 10 cohorts. A cohort has three maniples, and one maniple has two centuries. Maniples appear administrative in nature, as there appears to be no ranks or staff assigned to them. As a century has 100 men, a legion has roughly 6000 troops.

Marshals

  • Legatus Augustus: High commander of multiple legions.
  • Legatus Legionis: Commander of a legion.

Executive Officers

  • Tribunus Laticlavius: Leader of a legion's military tribunes, and second in command to the legatus.
  • Tribunus Angusticlavius: One of a legion's military tribunes. Assumes command of the secondary unit in the event the legion is split. How many per legion?
  • Praefectus Castrorum: Commander of a castrum stationed in or near enemy territory, and the highest rank attainable by a citizen not of Garlean ancestry.

Senior Officers

  • Tribunus Militum: One of a legion's military tribunes and second in command to the Tribunus Laticlavius. How many per legion?
  • Primus Pilus: Commander of a legion's first cohort.

Officers

  • Pilus Prior: Commander of a legion's remaining cohorts
  • Primi Ordines: Centurions of the first cohort? Not in the lorebook, but mentioned in the Great Gubal Library NM. Same social title as Centurio (Quo)
  • Centurio: Commander of a middle-sized unit of infantry numbering one-hundred soldiers

Petty Officers

  • Optio: A veteran soldier assigned to assist a centurion.
  • Tesserarius: Watch commander responsible with maintaining communication between officers and soldiers Assuming one per century, as IRL Roman army
  • Decurio: Commander of a small unit of infantry numbering ten soldiers

Soldiers

  • Duplicarius: A veteran soldier
  • Legionarius: Regular infantry composed primarily of peoples of conquered territories seeking citizenship through service.

Something like this?

Oh, awesome look! Almost what I was talking about, esp. with the arrows and whatnot. It was more illustrating each rank and how it answers to ranks above/below it. I should have clarified better in my original post. If I were to do it in word form...

2nd-10th Cohorts

  • 9x Pilus Prior
    • 10x Centurio
      • x? Optio
      • x1 Tesserarius
      • x10 Decurio
        • x10 Legionarius/Duplicarius

But then between Pilus Prior and Centurio, you'd need to indicate that the organization being referred to was now a century...as you might imagine, considering there'd be a separate lateral flowchart for Primus Pilus and Primi Ordines...my head literally exploded.

For a legion, it might go...

Legion

  • 1x Legatus Legionis
    • 1x Tribunus Laticlavius
      • ?x Tribunus Militum

      [*]?x Tribunus Angusticlavius

      [*]?x Praefectus Castrorum

      [*]1x Primus Pilus

      • 10x Primi Ordines

      [*]9x Pilus Prior

      • 10x Centurio

AND SO ON. Mindboggling to me how I could transfer this to a chart.

Ahhh! Yeah, if Bri doesn't handle that I can get to work on something for you after this RP. IDK why I like projects like this so much, LOL.

Hngh, neither do I, so I'm glad I found people who are also but seem to have the left-brained functionings for this!

I find it interesting that a few roles like the Praefectus Castrorum seem to hint at some divisions (garrisons especially) of the army not actually comprised into one of the Legions proper. While a legion could be stationned at a Castrum, the administrative force of the Castrum proper looks not to be part of a Legion itself, a legion being mobile by definition.
