Kimikimi Posted October 11, 2017 Share #1 Posted October 11, 2017 People have been saying quite a bit of time has passed since the Calamity. More then five years now, however in patch 4.1 Nanamo says it's still been five years. So, do we really know how much time has truly passed? Link to comment
Mermaid Posted October 11, 2017 Share #2 Posted October 11, 2017 Despite everything that's happened it's still only been 5 years since the Calamity, 25 years since Garlemald took over Doma, etc, etc. There's a quote from Micheal-Christopher Koji Fox somewhere about the game being stuck in a "Simpson's time bubble". So basically we've freed Ishgard from it's war with the dragons, liberated Ala Mhigo and Doma, killed a bunch of primals, and it's still the same year. Link to comment
Faye Posted October 11, 2017 Share #3 Posted October 11, 2017 Most of us go in real time for RP since... well, that's what makes the most sense (hence why people will often say it's been longer). IIRC it was about four or five years ago at the time of ARR's launch, and it's been four years real time since then. The in game timeline is... something else entirely. Link to comment

Per lore, only 5~6 years have passed since the Calamity and the end of the Sixth Astral Era. Obviously, that's hard to swallow when you've been doing 4+ years of RP. So a lot of people go by real time passage. But ultimately, it's up to you and your RP circle how to deal with time passage. Link to comment
