Khaze'to Zhwan Posted June 29, 2013 Share #27 Posted June 29, 2013 Its really useful when working out the time difference to not get it wrong and arrive 4 hours early Link to comment
Fulcrum Posted June 29, 2013 Share #28 Posted June 29, 2013 Aside from a group really wanting to throttle Merri, I think the event went pretty well~! =P Link to comment
Imsey Posted June 30, 2013 Share #29 Posted June 30, 2013 Had to leave early, but just wanted to say thanks for hosting this event! Link to comment
Khaze'to Zhwan Posted June 30, 2013 Share #30 Posted June 30, 2013 My cliant glitched out completely at the end but it was an enjoyable experience, I look forward to more in the future . A think you to those who organised it, after seeing the effort it took just trying to get us into 3 groups im glad it wasn't me doing it. Link to comment
Rhio Posted June 30, 2013 Share #31 Posted June 30, 2013 It was great fun, and I had an absolute blast playing with Marice. Met a lot of new people, saw some familiar faces, and got to enjoy a different sort of event. Kind of glad I let Rhio sit this one out. Thanks to everyone who attended and the Blue Skies folks for getting things organized and working in the wake of huge turnout! Link to comment
Elkabong419 Posted June 30, 2013 Share #32 Posted June 30, 2013 as I was on my way to the event, a real life problem reared it's head and I had to log extremely early. I am very sorry I missed the event  Link to comment
Low-Z Posted June 30, 2013 Share #33 Posted June 30, 2013 I had fun at this event! Thank you in particular to Mali, Xenedra, and Kari for taking the time to talk to a complete stranger and make me feel a little bit more welcome. Link to comment

Met a lot of new people, saw some familiar faces, and got to enjoy a different sort of event. Kind of glad I let Rhio sit this one out. Oh that's who played those characters. Husband and wife I believe? I barely started to explore with the husband (I don't recall the name) before I had to go off on an afk that lasted... well the whole event Link to comment
Tivahlt Posted June 30, 2013 Share #35 Posted June 30, 2013 Well, in case it wasn't obvious I had a blast. Mali loves meeting new people to make sarcastic comments about! But really, that was a lot of fun, I got to meet a lot of new players and see some old players again, I loved it. I missed going to events like that in 1.0. Definitely going to try to make it for future events (and join the shell hint hint wink wink). Link to comment
Rhio Posted June 30, 2013 Share #36 Posted June 30, 2013 Oh that's who played those characters. Husband and wife I believe? I barely started to explore with the husband (I don't recall the name) before I had to go off on an afk that lasted... well the whole event Marice was played by me, Malcolm was played by... well, Malcolm. Ironically, Malcolm is played by my wife. (And doesn't really care for posting on the board, but.) Link to comment
Myal Posted June 30, 2013 Share #37 Posted June 30, 2013 I had a great time! I was playing Fulala Fula, if anyone remembers. Sorry if I didn't say much; I was fairly unprepared and the character I made on the spot is the type who doesn't really speak up unless annoyed. So... in retrospect, probably not a good idea for mingling purpose. Link to comment
Merri Posted June 30, 2013 Author Share #38 Posted June 30, 2013 Thank you SO much to everyone who came out. Honestly, it was almost a bit overwhelming. We had over fifty people show up throughout the course of the day. Probably a good 30-40 at the start. It was nuts, suffice it to say, when there was just three of us to organize it all. But once the ball got rolling, I felt like (at least for my group) things went incredibly smoothly! I had an absolute blast adventuring with the lot of you. Between the bandit attack, and the golems, and the Amalj'aa, and the massive sandworm.. ..fun stuff. (Seriously, love them FATEs. I had a feeling there was amazing potential for spontaneous roleplay, and they totally lived up to that expectation.) I hope the other groups had just as much fun! And I enjoyed getting to know the lot of you at the after party event deal. That being said, we'll be having yet another event next week! So, if you weren't able to attend this one, hopefully you can make the next! Thanks again to everyone who came out, and I hope you all enjoyed yourselves thoroughly~ I meant to take more screenshots this time around, but I completely forgot until we were almost done with the main portion of the event! Bummed I didn't capture all the exciting bits. I was just so drawn into the roleplay and action. If you took any, I'd love to see 'em! Here's what I got though~ Link to comment
Torvhan Posted June 30, 2013 Share #39 Posted June 30, 2013 Had alot of fun, was there as Torvhan, looking foward to seeing you all agian. Group 3 at the Burning Wall After Party Link to comment
Low-Z Posted June 30, 2013 Share #40 Posted June 30, 2013 I love that I see myself in some of these screenshots. Because I'm an arrogant bastard like that! But it was a lot of fun, and I should add Endemerrin (Merri) to the group of folks that made it worthwhile. Though not a lot of people really acknowledged me, he was one - and Xenedra, and a couple others. It's hard joining a group that's kind of already established itself awhile back, but I did feel very welcome. So thanks everyone for that. I think I'm just gonna walk up to random RPers next time and be like, "Sup?" Link to comment
Fulcrum Posted June 30, 2013 Share #41 Posted June 30, 2013 I got a screenshot of a bit of the chaos before the event started rolling. It's centred on Dwynd, cus I liked how ze ended up perching rather than sitting on zir butt. Link to comment
Khaze'to Zhwan Posted June 30, 2013 Share #42 Posted June 30, 2013 Woo I'm in screen shots. It was great and now its good to see the players behind the toons. I would have talked more and to more people but I found it difficult to keep track of each chat as it moved by so fast. I'd be up for joining you guys if you would have me, as long as I don't get eaten by giant worms again. Merri you are right about the fates value to spontaneous roleplay, was good fun having to react like that... It was nice to share a bottle with Mali as well and try and sort out all the naming issues, Can I suggest we try and introduce our selves a little earlier in the event next time, made for some interesting dialogue for sure.. Some more pictues from the sand dunes, they just went on forever didn't they.... I like this one, its very posed considering it wasn't posed at all Link to comment
Fulcrum Posted June 30, 2013 Share #43 Posted June 30, 2013 Sadly, it's very in character for Dwynd to not bother with introductions; the FFXIV crowd is one of the few RP groups that assuming one knows someone's name because it's hovering over their head isn't a majority thing, which is kinda lovely. I think I'm just gonna walk up to random RPers next time and be like, "Sup?" I know the feeling with the screenshots, I especially like how Merri caught Mali mid /surprise in the second pic. Too perfect! Also, Khaze's pictures are the bomb. Not just because they have a bomb in them... >_>; Merri and Xenedra have always been nice folks who try to play with everyone...even if there's fifty people at once. I've always respected that about them, even if it doesn't look like it because my character is a short-tempered something-something. If you ever see Mali wandering around in the future, go ahead and start something. I'm usually bored anyway. Link to comment
Khaze'to Zhwan Posted June 30, 2013 Share #45 Posted June 30, 2013 I actually turn off peoples hovering names in every game I play, I find it annoying I guess so I only see peoples names in chat or when I target them, A) it helps me learn who is who rather than relying on floating text and B) I like a really minimal UI so it looks prettier to me Thanks Tivahlt, the bombs are cute aren't they. However Khaze is my mothers name...I have to deal with not having my own name enough with out being confused with my mother.. Link to comment
Azthran Posted June 30, 2013 Share #46 Posted June 30, 2013 Thanks for hosting this guys, had a blast even if the group did just going around picking up things Merri "lost". It made for a lot of fun and even educational for me as I now know where the Drake tribe is located so will be tweeking U'zhan a bit. It is a shame no one took a screen cap of those worms though, think we were all too busy going "RWAR! DIE DIE DIE OHGODDONTEATME!!!!" Link to comment
Nhyra Posted June 30, 2013 Share #47 Posted June 30, 2013 Thanks for the event. Even if it was more than a bit overwhelming for someone who rps for the first time in an mmo. Just the sheer amount of people... I wasn't really happy with my character's performance, but let's say she had a bad day and wasn't in the mood for puzzles and riddles. Or confusing Miqo'te ;> Looking forward to any other events you might come up with! Link to comment

I actually started doing it because it lagged the hell out of my PC while raiding in EQ2, and just kinda stuck with it. In some games, it doesn't work well because people look too similar, so I'd run past someone not realising who they were; that's not been as huge an issue in recent years though. Link to comment

HAHA finally someone who understands, my friend who plays wow keeps his on all the time and it just makes the screen so cluttered. As long as I can target people I'm happy and its good because your character moves their head to look at the other player so I like to think of it as the character is actively thinking and studying the person to try and remember Link to comment
Xenedra Posted June 30, 2013 Share #50 Posted June 30, 2013 I'm glad to hear at least some of you had fun! I'm sorry to everyone who had a hectic time at the beginning, I know I certainly was having one @_@! To those who stuck around, I love you. To those who stuck around and had fun, I'm so happy! /sob ; ;! I have... four pictures. The beginning! Shameless self picture thing. Ah, the calm before the storm. I completely missed pictures of the middle : x. Here's group three arriving at the meeting point after exploration! Hanging out at Crescent Cove. What happened to the moon? Iono. We found a bar and I tortured some people with my razor wit(?). Link to comment
