Kayne Allond Posted December 29, 2020 Author Share #2 Posted December 29, 2020 (edited) So, I've been writing down some words used in Limsa Lominsa in reagards to what is considered 'pirate speech'. The reason I did this, is because some words can be difficult to understand, especially when it comes to sentence flow. You know with all the 'fer' and the like. So below is what I have run into so far and their meanings (to the best of my understanding). Hopefully this will help future RPers understand Kayle as well! 'twould = it would o' = of an' = and n' = used at the end of a word for 'ing' ye = you yer = your me = can indicate 'I' in certain setttings ' = used to replace 'h' or 'e' at the beginning of some words 'course = of course aye = yes so's = so till/til = until 'em = them 'cept = except 'tis = it's fer = for 'twas = it was meself = myself 'emselves/'emself = themselves/themself 'n = used in this order to mean 'than' 'cause = because outta = out of who'd've = who would have summat = something 'fore/afore = before anyroad = anyway cap’n = captain ofttimes = ‘often’ or ‘often times’ parley = to talk s'pose = I suppose cannae = can't/cannot ev'ry = every culls = it's said to mean the privates of a man. I'm not sure how this fits into context in this game .... hm scrag = a thin, scrawny person aright = right profferin' = offering 'ford = afford grog = any spirits mixed with water naught = nothing churl = beggar 'tain't = it ain't/ain't aught = to be? (I'm not fully clear on this one yet) ken = ? (when used in game it was in a place of a word to mean something like feel or feeling, but not sure) to 'cuff' someone = smack them on the head Edited January 6, 2021 by Kayne Allond 1 Link to comment
