Lana Posted July 24, 2013 Share #1 Posted July 24, 2013 I remember reading somewhere that Arcanist will be available as a class in the upcoming final phase. Has this been confirmed by SE? Thanks. Link to comment

Niteshade_Rune Posted July 25, 2013 Share #3 Posted July 25, 2013 Awesome, I could use a break from my usual melee style fighting and have been anxious to learn more about the Arcanist and having Carbuncle once again. Even nicer is it gives me somethign I can pick to start in my favorite Citystate from the get go. Never was much for axes 8-) Link to comment

Im glad that im bringing out my 1.0 character, unless they change something between beta n launch, i was able to shift right off marauder into one of my other leveled classes since i had all my various weapons n gear handy after completing a few of the intro quests. I dont mind the new system as much now with picking a class and that determining where u go, its a good way to break new folks in and all. Am I wrong or does Limsa currently only have 2(w/arcanist) classes while the other 2 cities had 3 classes? Maybe I'm just wrong. Either way I am very excited to see what Arcanist can do in game alongside Carbuncle. I have even(providing I like the sampling I do of the class) Thought of a way to incorporate a Carbuncle into my character story Link to comment
FreelanceWizard Posted July 26, 2013 Share #6 Posted July 26, 2013 You're correct; there's only 8 martial classes and 3 cities, so someone was going to get the shaft. (Hopefully they'll bring a Thief class in soon that can start in Limsa Lominsa.) The starting cities for the martial classes are: Limsa Lominsa: Arcanist, Marauder Ul'dah: Gladiator, Pugilist, Thaumaturge Gridania: Archer, Lancer, Conjurer Link to comment

I didnt spend that much time in the last phase of beta, just enough to get in a quick fix, check out the improved character creation and see the wonderful Carbuncles at the lower portion of the Arcanists Guild, my gf created a lalafel and was trying the game out, played more of the beta then I did hah. AH yea thief, that may also be a good one for them to implement then require as 1 of the options for Ninja I will be all sorts of happy to see Ninja and Darknight if they give them to us in the future heh. Nnejo Posted July 26, 2013 Share #8 Posted July 26, 2013 From what I have gathered of Arcanist, it seems to be some sort of support healer? Does anyone know if it will be a viable option for a healing class, or is White Mage the end all be all as far as healing goes? Link to comment

Does anyone know if it will be a vial option for a healing class, or is White Mage the end all be all as far as healing goes? As far as what I heard White Mage will be a powerful single shot healer and Scholar will be a good aoe healer. I plan on making a Scholar eventually. Link to comment
FreelanceWizard Posted July 26, 2013 Share #10 Posted July 26, 2013 While you really can't trust data mining in MMOs (devs will often put in placeholder data or, in the case of EQ2, outright lies), the last datamining that was done on the game indicated ACN was a DD class. I certainly hope this isn't ultimately the case, as the game desperately needs another healer, and a class that goes from full DD to HoT healer at 30 (via SCH) will... tend to be played poorly at that point, I think. So, I guess my point is that we really don't actually know what ACN will be. We know SMN is a pet DD class and SCH is a pet heal class, but the devs haven't said anything about ACN at this point other than it'll have a (very cute) pet. Link to comment
Flamel Eldgamel Posted July 26, 2013 Share #11 Posted July 26, 2013 I've heard that Arcanist itself will only be able to heal Carbuncle, and when you shift to Scholar, it somehow changes your DoTs to HoTs. It honestly makes the best sense, that way summoner still has DoTs from Arcanist, but the only thing that changes will be the Carbuncle summons turning into the mini Primal summons. So if that's true, in the duty finder Arcanist will be DPS, but Scholar will be Heals. Basically what FreelanceWizard said above me. Link to comment
Darcey Posted July 26, 2013 Share #12 Posted July 26, 2013 What about the class that uses guns? I see the symbols in the same guild as the marauder. Link to comment

Niteshade_Rune Posted July 26, 2013 Share #14 Posted July 26, 2013 Hmm, perhaps then Arcanists are a bit of a soft mixture between heal/damage? Well we'll just have to find out for ourselves (Which i'm perfectly ok with, need to keep breaking in the new gpu) Link to comment

Musketeer hasn't been officially announced, but I do believe there's a Musketeer's Guild in Limsa and you can go watch them practice with guns. Link to comment

In phase three, they were sharing space with the Maurader's Guild. Who knows if they'll get a space of their own whenever Squee decides to implement them. Link to comment
Niteshade_Rune Posted July 27, 2013 Share #17 Posted July 27, 2013 Speaking of Arcanist and the wonderful Carbuncle, i am REALLY curious what the story is with what they showed on the official ARR page, emerald Carbuncle and Topaz Carbuncle TELL ME MORE! side but related note.. i need to buy that Carbuncle Plushie ive been eyeballing for years Link to comment

We been saying that since 1.0 beta. ^^; The opening scene used to be with them even! I didn't visit Limsa during phase 3 though... Didn't know they and Mara were now in the same spot. Used to be Mara were in a ship and Musketeers had their own building. They seemed to be like.. the Limsa Navy or something. Link to comment
