Any of these character types out there for RP?

Recommended Posts

Here comes a listing!

A Mime perhaps?

Now I know we can't change weapons in battle, but what about someone who changed classes all the time?  Of course this would require an intense amount of grinding, but hey, I am sure many would be up to the task.  Gogo, pictured above, could talk, so you wouldn't necessarily have to be mute, but it might be fun!  Also, think about dyeing all different kinds of gear like the above pic of Gogo different colors!  Man would you stand out!

A Defector:

Yes, I know there are some out there playing defectors from the Empire.  I just have yet to meet any!  Celes is and always will be one of my fav characters.  I just think that kind of story makes it so fun to roleplay with cause there are always trust issues that creates a very cool interaction dynamic with the people involved.

A Sage:

What about if you had mastery over white and black magic, but you could not always remember what to cast when?  Tellah was cool in FF4, but what if it was all done by chance?  Yes, people would hate you in a party, but if it was an RP party, my god would it be a blast!  Imagine if it was all random what you would cast next!  Crazy, I know.  I know this one is far fetched, but just an idea to explore.

The Extremist:

Let's be honest, we need a BAD GUY.  Yes, the idea has been discussed.  Yes you would alienate yourself from a lot of the population.  Some of us, myself included, have played the role and know how rewarding it can be when 70% + of a server hates you for good reasons.  It's hard to be bad, but it is fun.  This is Final Fantasy.  That means great stories.  Yes, we have the Empire.  We need a PC villain to get that extra RP mile out of the experience.  No, you don't have to kill us, disfigure us, or always win or loose.  It can work, if some of us (which is why I am asking here), work to make it work!

I hope all four of these are out there SOMEWHERE!  Know now, by this posting, you are wanted!  Please come forward so we can work together to have a great time in this great game!

Thank you for your time in reading this and any responses with desires to be one of the above listed character types!

And to everyone here, and I mean the ENTIRE RPC, in the words of the late great Sam Cooke "Let the Good Times Roll",

for EVERYONE no matter what server you are on or where you are in this world come this weekend/ Tuesday!

Sincerely,

Konner

I have really been trying to make a villain as I think PC villains are much much better than NPC. I would really love to see villainy committed on a large scale community level. Like various groups of villains or a large cult or something. The cult idea is kind of a favorite of mine right now as I think during times of disaster there are always people who spring up and prey on the weak during their time of need.

I hope this thread flushes out a few of these villains or people interested in taking that route as I would love to discuss things and get together on this idea

Ahh Kefka, IMO the best villian in all of Final Fantasy.

Welcome to the RPC!  Honored your first post was in this humble thread!  I wonder if Lan Darklyn would care to try their hand at the Kefka mantle?

Ah, my dear friend!  So good to hear from you again!

I do hope this thread sparks some to come forward and perhaps, if you would, maybe you could spearhead the formation of such a group?

Hahaha. I don't think I have much leader blood in me, but once things start to settle down I might be up for something like this. I think people would be more prone to join in on this with an alt maybe.

I have been thinking about parading through the streets to try to recruit people IC to the possible cult. I just need to dig up more lore information on the Twelve before I try and also try to find a way to pervert the message of the Twelve, as most cults do.

I think it would be nice to have a kind of PC Lambs of Dalamud type group going around putting on a facade of being a generous group of worshipers, but secretly kidnapping and doing weird stuff behind the scenes.

I'll definitely keep you updated if I do end up getting this ball rolling ^^.

Also, I had this in another thread awhile back, so I thought I would throw it in here too for the new members around here!

Dark Knight (Fallen Knight):

Who can forget the great Lord Soth?  Dark Knight as a job will come to FF14 someday, and it will be grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat!

tony-the-tiger.jpg

But, what about the fallen knight?  One who broke their vows, dishonored themselves and went down the path of vile deeds and evil?  Yes, I know it has been done before.  However, I am sure there are those out there who wish to do it again!  Come, be known to us!

Having done a thesis paper in college, without showing too much of my age here, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back when on Jim Jones

I can say with some straight belief that pure evil was in this man.  I think the mere mention of cults always brings him to mind.  As such, an evil cult type thing is something that would be very unique and very cool for other to interact with.  I would STRONGLY encourage others here to seek out LandStander here and see what can be worked out on this!

My character Arete is.. trying to be a Sage but  ala the final fantasy 3 definition.

Oh, excellent idea!  Any special quirks and/or traits about your character?

Are you just on a quest to master both magic types?

She has taken the assumed Name Arete Sophoi because she doesn't want to be seen as another stupid "tribal" Miq(I figure with all the ages there was time for some period to have had a language in the past that was vaguely greekish). She's overconfident and probably not quite as smart as she thinks she is.

She's working on learning all three magical arts with arcanist the primary focus(From the class quests its played as the most intellectual of the three magical arts).

She definately thinks of herself as mentally primary that doesn't mean she won't dabble outside her quest goals but I am generally going to treat any time she's playing in any DOW class as weaker than other members who are more primarily that. That's generally what i have currently, I haven't had much chance to see how she'd play off of other rpers during the weekend.

This sounds interesting.  If you plan to play on Balmung maybe we can RP together to get a personality hashed out.

I would like to try to RP with you.  The sage concept is a good one!

Lovely pic of Celes up there.

I know we got some Garlean defectors and spies here and there... and my character Helena could eventually become a Sage. Who knows? She's still pretty young for now, though.

If you do take Helena down the sage road would they be the wise thirsting for knowledge type or the quirky I can't remember everything I have learned ones or even something else entirely?

I am curious.

Yep I rolled her on Balmung, my desire to deal with the most populated server was not strong and I actually like High level peeps both from an rp sense as "Those are the guys in the know already" and from a mechanical sense.

as for getting a personality hashed, its come to be my perspective that every plan I have for a character is quickly redefined by her interaction with others, they properly take on a "voice" once they have interacted with others.

This is true!  I hope then maybe we can get together this weekend!  I would love to!

Hmm... I'm sure Penny (Penelope) is on the way to becoming a sage. Though, she wouldn't be as random as the example depicts. Her history only calls for her to be sage and possibly an archer when the time comes. ^_^

Is she the sort of worldly scholar type?   I am curious now.

Not so much a scholar type more of a curious person who spends a lot of her time in the books and scrolls. Her father was a thaumaturge who was quite the wiz when it came to history and magical research. So, following in his footsteps and honoring his death after the calamity she left her quaint home in Gridania with her mother to move to Ul'dah (her mother went to Limsa - her father's hometown).

She's already got a lead in Conjuration due to her mother's family specialising in healing aether. I've had some time to think of her backstory so much due to beta's being so far apart. T~T

I know of one who's making it a big point to keep it as secret as possible so that he can dole it small hints here and there in-game, which I think is probably the best way to do it (otherwise you have issues with metagaming and the like). If you think about it, a true defector would try to avoid letting it be known as much as possible to avoid the very trust issues that you're talking about.

Now that you know, you're going to have to analyze everyone you run into to figure out whether or not they may be a defector... :)

I always assumed Cid didn't defect alone, one can't build an industry entirely by oneself.

My character definitely falls into the "jack of all trades" category because of his personality and upbringing. He's definitely not a mime, though. I plan to grind out every last class (and probably, because of that, be slower than the average leveler), but I expect to have great fun doing it.

I haven't gotten access to the dye system yet, but I hear they added some new colors in the beta. It might be fun to try experimenting with that, even though I loathed the "mismatched clown suit" look in other games. Anything but a subligar will do...

Depends how things develop!

See, the thing about Helena is she's pretty smart and naturally talented.. but her problem is she has trouble focusing on just one thing at a time. An easy parrallel would be a university student who keeps switching degrees, getting great grades, but never finishing any.

Obviously, she is thirsty for knowledge.. but isn't quite so wise yet. Smart, but not necessarily wise (that might come with age and/or experience).

Also, being so spread out in her studies and those studies being sometimes radically different (the heavily scientific approach of the arcanist versus the spiritual approach of the conjurer is the perfect example) means she could end up forgetting important things or mixing them up and either miscasting or just not being able to do it at all.

To complicate things further she also dabbles in the more martial classes so she's like... a combat sage! o_O

My own character is inspired in part by the likes of Gabranth, Basch, Vossler and Beatrix. I've always been fond of role-playing characters that are a little older than most - usually in their early thirties - who range from honourable to morally grey yet driven by a personal set of rules that they stick to closely. Hopefully I'm not the only one doing as such in order to prevent my character being swamped by those that are portrayed teenagers or in their early twenties.

I do wonder if you might really expand on this and change classes in and out of battle as kinda that 'jack-of-all trades' type thing.  It would really be cool!  Also, if you do the wild dye looking clown suit with all different types and colors of gear, that would be sooooooo Gogo and sooooo FF.  Anyways, sounds cool regardless.  Maybe you and I can talk more about this?  I would like to.

Anyways, great idea!  :)

Mixing things up with respect to disciplines is also something I might consider doing, as Kevaraan is eclectic (his philosophy is borrowed from a variety of explanations, not just the Twelve.) Helena and he would probably get along, as he can't focus too well either. This amalgamation approach extends to not only his jobs, but his beliefs and lifestyle, as well.

He's certainly not excellent at everything he does--there are things he's better and worse at. For example, he's much too tense to be a fluid shot with a bow, and he doesn't have the muscle or physical skill to move comfortably in a full set of heavy plate. As such, his IC armor would probably be much lighter than one might expect a typical gladium to wear. He mostly wears leather.

As someone who's used to playing specialized characters, this is a breath of fresh air, and I want to take full advantage of it (in terms of advantages and flaws or accidents.)

One cool thing about this game is that the gear segregation is much blurrier--there are class restrictions but not armor grade restrictions (No Cloth/Leather/Mail/Plate). Instead of obviously wearing all cloth, mages in this game are allowed to wear spectacles, and a lot of their sets have leather or metal detailing, like Scholar hats. It's possible to wear sandals as a warrior or a caster. Melee classes get to wear cloth bandanas on occasion. It's great.

I'd also be open to more discussion about the topic if either of you are interested.
