Rinh Hallani Posted August 28, 2013 Share #51 Posted August 28, 2013 My game crashed at about 9 pm UK today and it took me 10 minutes of fervent clicking to get back in. I honestly thought it was going to be a lot worse than that so I'm not complaining. Link to comment
Oldaric Charledore Posted August 28, 2013 Share #52 Posted August 28, 2013 What I don't understand is... Why someone actively playing the game gets booted- yet an afker can stay on all day and night... I am -constantly- getting kicked from the game and unable to return. Just an hour ago, I was kicked from the middle of the last boss fight in Coppermine. BTW I think it has to do a lot with the loading screens its normally when you move to zone to zone right? People sitting in their inn rooms with nothing that could crash/DC them aren't going to be kicked by errors because they're not moving, not doing anything. Link to comment

Have gotten booted crafting in a hall... fighting in the Shroud... Fighting in a dungeon... chatting with a friend (in my Inn room)... standing in BentBranch chatting with others at the aetheryte... Got booted once during a rez... And once zoning, I think. Otherwise... yeah. just Hi-bye. Link to comment
AsheRayne Posted August 28, 2013 Share #56 Posted August 28, 2013 I love your message, but also think people will just be people. I figured out this exploit quite awhile ago. I have never used it, as I would feel absolutely horrible if I did, but I can't say I really blame people who do employ it. SE really just needs to create an auto-kick. I wouldn't really call it an exploit. It used to be vital in FFXI to stay logged in in order to sell stuff, and even in FXIV 1.0 to look for repairs and personal bazaars. Now I'm not certain if they've done away with those things so you no longer have a need to stay in, as I've been unable to log in :-) Link to comment
Maeve Posted August 29, 2013 Share #57 Posted August 29, 2013 I've been trying to login for over two hours and it just says the world is full, I don't even get a queue. Therefore I really don't blame those people that stay logged in, especially if they are just going away for 30mins to an hour. Its SE's fault for not putting in an afk kicker - people will always abuse systems if the proper checks aren't put in place. Lucky I live in Australia so I know that in an hour or two the server load usually lessens and I'll be able to get in. Link to comment

Desmond Aryll Posted August 29, 2013 Share #59 Posted August 29, 2013 This had been a tough time for everyone. Waiting all this time for the game to launch and these problems pop up. :frustrated: One thing that's important to remember is not to seek ways to alienate other players, singling them out as Afk'ers or something. They are players just like us. And resenting them isn't hurting anyone but the person doing the resenting because let's face it, other players practicing this don't care if we're upset or not. (shrug) They don't even know us. People are people as someone on here said. That's very true. When there is no food people fight over bread. And this is definitely a famine. I'm gonna do myself a favor and try and remember it's just a game. 1 Link to comment
Mewnie Posted August 29, 2013 Share #60 Posted August 29, 2013 I'd play some Saints Row 4, but yesterday's patch corrupted saves so I can't even play that to pass the time Woe It's disappointing that some folks have a FYGM attitude, but not at all surprising. We live in the age of "I want it and I want it NOW." Link to comment

Tsori Posted August 29, 2013 Share #63 Posted August 29, 2013 You know if we logged off, you still wouldnt be able to create a new character right?... I mean you are aware they locked that functionality Day 2 of EA. before the mass kickings and login issues. Character creation is locked so more people dont contribute to this situation.. not to ease it. Link to comment
Nel Celestine Posted August 29, 2013 Share #64 Posted August 29, 2013 I personally have been trying to stay on the last day and a half due to this congestion. Yes it's selfish of me, but I logged out this morning. I just hope I can get back on tonight to continue to record and produce my content instead of sitting at a login screen with an idle channel and hungry subs... Edit: and before anyone gets mad and points fingers, yes I was trying to produce content, HELPFUL content, for when people are able to play regularly. But you know, whatever. Get upset at me for a while but it doesn't change the fact that this sucks for everyone and sadly the biggest offenders of this are the end gamers who don't even come here. Link to comment
Luka Posted August 29, 2013 Share #65 Posted August 29, 2013 The only thing that bites is the fact that I haven't been able to get in game for the past two days. Especially when you pre ordered it yet I understand they didn't expect the game to be that populated but still wish I never paid that extra money to get in early. Its wasted money you know? Hope they compensate those that couldn't logged like me at least and I have many friends trying to get in balmung only to get the response on the forums of "Don't pick the most populated server then stupid." By some users. Obviously there going to balmung for rolepay yet we are limited. All those waiting to even make a character I feel for you. My best suggestion is just to wait it out until they raise the server cap! Link to comment
Asyria Posted August 29, 2013 Share #66 Posted August 29, 2013 Agreed 100% with OP. And the whole "don't pick the highest population server it's stupid" is a stupid statement, considering the issue has been happening on all servers. Silly users. I really hope they compensate people for this... but knowing their track record with FF XIV 1.0, I think they will. Link to comment
Dravus Posted August 29, 2013 Share #67 Posted August 29, 2013 It looks like there's a lot more players deliberately staying online for extended periods of time judging by what I've seen over the last few days. In almost every settlement I've visited there's at least 10-20 players all sitting or standing around doing nothing...and then being there when I return hours later. So this is definitely a much bigger issue than I initially assumed - there's literally hundreds of players on each server doing it and the time window to reliably log on has been reduced in size significantly. I'm not mad at Square Enix, though - I'm sure they're doing all they can to help remedy the situation and that they're equally as frustrated as those of us who cannot get online. Link to comment
h3xd Posted August 29, 2013 Share #68 Posted August 29, 2013 I wouldnt mind an AFK timer but it needs to be long enough to accomodate long dungeon queue times at high levels when the population thins out. Link to comment

Someone told me that in FFXI, it was necessary to stay logged in as much as possible. It may be that those players are old FFXI players and that's why they're staying logged in 100% of the time. I wouldnt mind an AFK timer but it needs to be long enough to accomodate long dungeon queue times at high levels when the population thins out. As long as you're moving around, a long dungeon queue shouldn't be an issue. You need to stay close enough to your computer to take it anyway. Link to comment
Naunet Posted August 29, 2013 Share #70 Posted August 29, 2013 I just wish we could get an actual queue, instead of this "world is full" nonsense. I've worked my ass off the past several days to get myself and Twinflame moved out of our apartment and ready for a three-day haul to Texas. I have this single day to recuperate before the drive, and I really want to play some ARR... but no can do. Blargh. Link to comment

Dravus Posted August 29, 2013 Share #72 Posted August 29, 2013 I'm just glad that I'm able to play around with the character creation screen even if I can't get into the game itself. I'm now seriously contemplating starting fresh now that I've gotten to grips with the various game mechanics. Being able to save appearances is wonderful! Link to comment

Remis Locke Posted August 29, 2013 Share #74 Posted August 29, 2013 Well I don’t know about you, but I’ve discovered new and creative ways of pressing the ‘Start’ command on the main menu. My personal favourite is whilst I was shaving; I put my game pad beneath my toe and kept tapping the 3 button. It didn’t get me anywhere for sure, but it most certainly abolished the rumour of men not being able to multi-task. Link to comment

I agree, wholeheartedly. I'd love to be able to get in queue, go do work for 30 minutes or an hour or however long, then come back and play. Link to comment
