Player Housing Video (TGS)

Ahah, I know that a lot may, but in the large-scale I would be really doubtful. Unless the house was inherited, said character is rather wealthy or is an older character who has some background experience to have justified them earning the money to purchase a home of their own, then it wouldn't be very fitting I think.

I think that there are many reasons a player could come up with for their character having a house.  We also don't know what the smaller houses look like.  The interiors featured in the video appeared to be of the largest houses.

Bad time to have 13k gil. :(

You have plenty of time. Last I heard, the estimate for housing content is December.

In an earlier video, they said the cost of a mid-range house would be three times the amount you earn by completing the story quest all the way through (even more if you choose money rewards). That's roughly 200K once through. Three times obviously being 600K. Therefore, we can guess that a starter home would be about 200K-300K.

Yes, I've thought a lot about this... And I've already put away more than half the cost because I'm so excited.

Housing looks sooo promising =)!

I cant wait to get my own Limsa house <3!!!:moogle:

Will it be an instance-system like in lotro?

From what I've seen of previous videos it will be instanced. Apparently there will be neighborhoods that your house will be in with a group of other players homes. The way the neighborhoods work is that when you sign up to receive a home, others that sign up at the same time will be assigned to homes in your neighborhood. My FC, for example, is going to try to pay for our houses at the same time, so we're hopefully all slotted in the same instance. This is all subject to change, though, I'm sure.

Thank you. :D

Would be much easier to let the players chose the instance themselves. But I'm sure they may consider these kind of different, lets call it residential areas.

I wish they'd find a way to make it less randomized, buying at the same time and praying that you all get put in the same instance sounds like a nightmare. There has to be some better way to control who you're instanced with.

Maybe some sort of migration system where you could put yourselves on a list and they shuffle you around to empty instances or something. Or having the instances tied to your FC, where only members can buy in that particular instance.

Anything but first-come first-served.

Very much agreed. It would be disheartening if my friends were all scattered to other instances, but I don't think anything is set in stone yet. Housing is a ways off, and there's time for them to tweak the system if they feel they need to.

I don't like the FC-link suggestion, as a lot of us might want to neighbor with folk who aren't necessarily in the same FC, but I agree Squee definitely needs to work on a better system for determining what "server" your home goes into.

This neighborhood instance thing is confusing me. Say I have a house in X instance neighborhood and a friend of my character's has a house in Y neighborhood. Will I be able to go to their neighborhood to visit their house?

If it works like Lord of the Rings Online, then in order to visit your friend's house you'll just change to the instance (normally done via menu or talking to an NPC) their house is on.

I am looking forward to housing; I've been working up a list for the MMO's I currently play as I try an reduce them down to one or two and housing is a big deal for me and one of the few things I wanted in Final Fantasy: XXIV. Now all I need is a cosmetic tab for armor and weapons and I'll have more then enough of a reasons to make FFXIV my primary (or only) MMO. *crosses fingers* :P
