Player Housing Video (TGS)

So excited, but also a little bit worried. Every floor seems to be one giant room with pillars. I was really hoping to be able to section things off into rooms, but... I guess it's not a big deal, especially if you can put markers around.

I honestly would love to be able to do this as well. Still, this didn't stop me in FFXI. I simply used partitions to seperate spaces. And I'll most likely do the same thing in FFXIV lol. Placing lines of partitions and creating hallways and seperate rooms through this method. Creativity can go a long way xD.

Still, a real wall would be better.

I can't wait!

Yes, I think there will be a small pocket of people going and RPing by themselves. On the other hand, there are people that actually like random open world RP - myself included - and player housing will not change that.

The main thing that I am so very happy about is that this allows for a plethora of public player crafted events, not to mention tavern/storytelling/etc nights.

Will there be a decline in world RP? Probably. But I think the good FAR outweighs the bad.

I've wanted to see in-depth player housing in a modern MMO for years, now. I'm very excited, though I do hope we'll be able to invite our friends to be able to visit and role-play inside them. I also hope that random players living in the same neighbourhood can't just randomly enter their neighbour's homes without permission.

But having said that, not a lot of people would really have IC housing, right?

My character would.  ^_^

Ahah, I know that a lot may, but in the large-scale I would be really doubtful. Unless the house was inherited, said character is rather wealthy or is an older character who has some background experience to have justified them earning the money to purchase a home of their own, then it wouldn't be very fitting I think.

To use myself as an example:

Sunseeker:

Tribal miqo'te that has no business seeking permanent residence elsewhere. Aside from that, she obviously has no substantial wealth to even do so.

Former Immortal Flame Hy'ur:

Though wealthy, he has no reason to actually purchase residence in Gridania(where he is currently staying). Who just buys a home on a whim after all? He is not trying to settle down or anything.

Very Wealthy Merc/Bounty Hunter:

He travels a lot, and though he could buy a home if he wanted, I think he'd be more suited to inns. He doesn't need a solid residence really. Perhaps it may change though.

Needless to say, I want a home for all of them OOCly ;w;

This looks absolutely fantastic and definitely solidifies my thought to purchase a house to host Ambrosia in! I am a bit nervous about the cost of all the different houses. These structures do however look to be very customizable and I hope the options shown where but a few choices given to us.

As to the question raised in this thread about every character having a home. While I don't think they will all have one, there will be quite a few with homes. Or perhaps they will do as I am and have housing set for my IC establishment. I think it just depends on the PC and what they feel is right for their character.

Ohh, this sounds interesting. May I ask what it is? I'm looking forward to people using homes as shops and larger ones for taverns or inns. The possibilities make my mouth water @-@
