Kylin Posted September 2, 2010 Share #1 Posted September 2, 2010 *You have 1 vote. *Poll will remain open for exactly 24 hours. *Results will remain hidden for the first 2 hours in order to ensure a "fair start." Those who wish to simply vote with the majority should wait until the hidden effect of the poll wears off before voting. *Secondary forum accounts are temporarily disabled. *Forum registration is currently set to admin approval only. *2nd place server in the poll will become the overflow server. That means if the RP server gets overloaded and locked down, the overflow server is where the rest of the RP community will go until something can be worked out. *Poll results are final. Do not whine after the results that the server name is lame. Regardless of any drama here or on any other site, the chosen RP server will remain the same. *In the event of a tie, the RPC Council will hold a vote to break it. *Due to the fact that this vote is happening during Open Beta, participants will have to reroll after the vote (delete character and recreate). This can not be avoided. Fortunately, you can skip the opening CS anyway. Thus, rerolling should not be an issue. *If you see a similar RP server poll on Core, please contact Cerulean Shaman immediately. He will shut it down. *If you see a similar RP server poll on any other site, please direct them here. *Please keep an eye on the beta forums as well (assuming they're still up). Someone may try to create some kind of informal poll there. *Moderators: Please move any other server selection poll created to the Council Chambers for removal. Only one poll topic should exist on these forums. *Council: Please mobilize your members as needed. Also be sure to properly announce the winning server (and overflow server) after the vote concludes. Link to comment
Kylin Posted September 2, 2010 Author Share #2 Posted September 2, 2010 If you have the time, you may want to start holding off on voting until tomorrow now. We already have over 20 votes in less than 10 minutes . Now's a good time to wait to see where the other communities are going first. So if you have time to vote tomorrow, that may be the best option! Link to comment
Kylin Posted September 2, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted September 2, 2010 43 votes cast already >.> Link to comment
ArmachiA Posted September 2, 2010 Share #4 Posted September 2, 2010 We decided to keep it secret? Booo I want to see what people are voting for. Link to comment
Soren Miren Posted September 2, 2010 Share #5 Posted September 2, 2010 Only for the first two hours. I believe 1am EST is when we'll be able to see the results, but as Castiel says, we're waiting to hear where larger communities are organizing. Link to comment
Trizzip Posted September 2, 2010 Share #6 Posted September 2, 2010 And the server names that are released now....is it confirmed that there will be no other servers listed? Link to comment
Soren Miren Posted September 2, 2010 Share #7 Posted September 2, 2010 The post on the beta boards says this is the list "as of Sept. 1st", so its likely that there will be more opened up, but I really don't see much point in holding out for additional servers that may or may not open up. Zane Posted September 2, 2010 Share #8 Posted September 2, 2010 People have been able to ping 20 servers, so there are probably more. 10 servers at launch is kinda... poor to say the least. Unfortunately, most of those servers would come at launch, or during Open Beta which does us little good since the server selected will be finalized before any additional servers will ever be added. Kylin Posted September 2, 2010 Author Share #9 Posted September 2, 2010 Okay...wasn't expecting such a huge voter turnout already. So I think the "fair start" is pretty well over. Revealing the results early >.> Link to comment
Talarien Cara Posted September 2, 2010 Share #10 Posted September 2, 2010 I would have to agree wholeheartedly. There is no point in waiting for an additional 10 or so servers to be listed at the present time. If it becomes a concern down the road towards the end of OB, then it may become possible to rethink everything, but even then it would seem to be not worth it. Link to comment
Satisiun Posted September 2, 2010 Share #11 Posted September 2, 2010 I can just feel the love for Final Fantasy IX. :moogle: And I love it. Link to comment
Trizzip Posted September 2, 2010 Share #12 Posted September 2, 2010 If that's the case, I wouldn't be surprised if these initial servers got filled up pretty quickly. Consequently, that would force all of the PS3 RP'ers (there are still many of us as well) into the overflow server....oh...wait the overflow is going to be a part of the original 10, so it'll probably be filled up too. Sounds like the PS3 RP'ers could very well end up being stuck on a non-RP server. Baka Link to comment
Koti Nexus Posted September 2, 2010 Share #13 Posted September 2, 2010 I think we outa stick to these 10, mostly cause they are the starters and probably most people will flex out to others. Link to comment

Keep in mind that the PS3 release is going to be a whole half of a year after the PC release. I'd be almost certain that by that point, any sort of overflow on servers will have simply self-corrected itself as people bounce around servers to find others they may have missed joining up with at the start, and other people simply leaving the game. Soren Miren Posted September 2, 2010 Share #15 Posted September 2, 2010 Remember to keep an eye on the news room, although Lindblum is our current lead, it may also be Core's new home. Link to comment
Cid_Mercer Posted September 2, 2010 Share #16 Posted September 2, 2010 I, too, am filled with happiness at seeing how popular Lindblum is. Love that game, love that name. Link to comment
Rhio Posted September 2, 2010 Share #17 Posted September 2, 2010 I think we outa stick to these 10' date=' mostly cause they are the starters and probably most people will flex out to others.[/quote'] Also, gambling on the existence of more at release is a touch dicey. At the moment we don't know if more will be added, and Square has frequently played rather conservative with the addition of new servers. More to the point, their servers generally seem to boast a fairly robust capacity, which would minimize the likelihood that the servers would reach the point of bursting from roleplayers alone. Or maybe I'm wrong, and five hundred of us will choke Lindblum/Trabia/whatever to death. Link to comment
Illias Posted September 2, 2010 Share #18 Posted September 2, 2010 Keep in mind that it's just a server name. I love FF9 myself but if Core goes there, it won't be the happiest RP community. Besaid is off to a good start, and so far no non-RP mass group is going for it Link to comment

RcknShdw Posted September 2, 2010 Share #20 Posted September 2, 2010 I thought we were supposed to try and avoid the obviously popular servers (/joke)? Gysahl, Wutai, and Lindblum are all going to be full to the brim at release based on the popularity of the games they're from. Everyone and their mother will recognize those names Oh well, EVERYONE VOTE FOR MYSIDIA! From the BEST Final Fantasy ever created ^_^v Link to comment

Dranmarth Posted September 2, 2010 Share #22 Posted September 2, 2010 I voted for Figaro, most awesome town music ever, although I wouldn't be against Mysidia pulling ahead either since it seems Figaro is being left in the dust. Go either one of them! Best two FF games ever made! Link to comment
Siben Posted September 2, 2010 Share #23 Posted September 2, 2010 I had to pick Lindblum, it's what Balthier would've wanted seeing as it's also the name of an airship in FF13 Link to comment
Asyria Posted September 2, 2010 Share #24 Posted September 2, 2010 it's very likely that there will be a big community on every server with a nice name. Namely, those that have a significant amount of votes here so far. It,s simply unavoidable. The thing I am concerned with is... if we DO need an overflow server... it will seriously suck for those people who end up being overflowed. I mean, really.. what happens if all of our highest voted servers are high pop? I think that picking a low-pop server is more important than voting, but too late for that. I can only cross my fingers. Link to comment
