You know, at first I was kind of upset they got rid of the trademark feline-esque Mithran nose we've all come to be familiar with.

 

But i'm acctually starting to like their new design.

So I guess Miqo'te will clearly have skin with no fur. I think there was some confusion in XI about that. I always viewed Mithras w/o fur. I do miss that little spot on the nose though, I hope people can chose to have it during character creation.

I never liked the old Mithra nose.. it reminded me of Scarecrow's nose from the Wizard of Oz. I love everything about the new Miqo'te design except for the fact that their faces almost all look like those of adolescent girls. I want to play a Miqo'te that looks like an actual woman wielding a blade lol.

Indeed. They kinda look like human faces drawn in anime style. If they are supposed to be cat-like, I wouldn't mind a different facial structure. Of course it won't happen, but just sayin'.

Those are of course just artists who like to draw in an anime like style. Here's a pic of a Miqo'te from a screen shot.

 

 

Her face and eyes are still kind of rounded but I think she looks mature enough. We'll have to see what other faces SE will give us for customization, but until then looks like SE is going after a young look due to the vast majority of players wanting to play young characters.

Haha yeah I was talking about the in-game models. Like that one you linked looks to me... 19 at the oldest. The one they showed prominently at the German games festival looked 16. In contrast, the Elezen women we've seen so far look like they have actually graduated high school. :lol:

 

I loved playing Mithra in XI and I want to play a Miqo'te in XIV, so I'm hoping they just chose the younger looking models for their demos because as you say, many people want a younger looking character.

I hope more art pops up : ) It seems like FFXI had a really nifty community for making fan art and most of it was pretty good.

I know one thing. Lalafell + mustache = CREEPY! It just doesn't look.........right.

Personally I think the Miqo'te look better than the Mithra, and not just because the graphics are better. I like the shapes of the ears and faces of the Miqo'te a bit more.

To me, the Mithra looked more cat-like, while the Miqo'te looks more human (with eyes, ears and tails as a cat depending on race). So I guess it's natural that the Miqo'te comes off as prettier ^^

Hah, that actually seem pretty accurate, with the miqo'te being number one, and the Mithra being closer to number 2 (thoughh not completely). Funny chart ^^
