S'maia Rahz Posted January 29, 2014 Share #26 Posted January 29, 2014 I also adore all three Primals when I'm looking for something a bit more, er, upbeat. I've got those on a playlist for when I run tabletop. My players have quickly learned that when Titan or Garuda's themes pop up, bad things are a-coming ...I wonder, just what sorta things would prompt one to play the last fight at the Praetorium theme.... I should answer this question for my players, if they live long enough to fight something worthy. Considering the number that hill giant did on them last night... Link to comment

Considering the number that hill giant did on them last night... ....I wish I could P&P with you. Another song that came to mind (and no YouTube link since I'm at work right now)--the theme that plays when Cid is talking at length. Which, now I think on it, I'm not sure of the title.... Presumably, the song is named "Cid's Theme". Link to comment

Presumably, the song is named "Cid's Theme". It wasn't entirely their fault. They were making a break for the trees while it pelted them with rocks- to try to fight it on more advantageous ground- and the party leader was almost down, so his bodyguard decides to charge back and distract it while the rest get to safety. Well, the party leader was SLEEPING with the bodyguard so he wasn't about to let her go get killed... so the party basically all came back, which meant the giant had about 4 rounds to attack them unhindered, then got to beat on the melee characters seperately, since the bodyguard had fast movement and light armor, so got there in half the time of the leader (who was in medium armor). The party mage had to stabilize them both and get them away from the giant while it ate their horses Link to comment
synaesthetic Posted January 30, 2014 Share #29 Posted January 30, 2014 I actually mute my music when raiding because it can make me too tense. I'll put on something instrumental, upbeat and happy or ambient and soothing, like CombatPlayer, Bohren & der Club of Gore or Tipper. Link to comment
Dravus Posted February 3, 2014 Share #30 Posted February 3, 2014 Honestly? I don't think there's a track in the game that I dislike. I definitely have a strong preference for the Garlean based stuff, though. Most notably the music that plays as their core theme, the one that plays in Castrum Meridianum and finally the track that plays within the Praetorium. Link to comment
Mippa Posted February 13, 2014 Share #31 Posted February 13, 2014 Absolute no-brainer: jH1DEdX3j3M This was my favorite song from the get-go, from 1.0 and still to this day. I wish they still played it more. orz It was remembering this song that brought me back for ARR. Link to comment
Therese Posted February 14, 2014 Share #32 Posted February 14, 2014 Weeeelp, most of the ones I was going to say has already been taken (Twilight over Thanalan, Titan's Theme, Garuda's Theme, [spoiler's] Theme) so I'll just go ahead and put this up: http://myfreemp3.eu/music/Before+Meteor+FFXIV Incidentally, both the boss themes mentioned so far are there: "Nemesis" which is the standard boss music "The Dark's Embrace" which is the hard mode versions (though I thought this was just Haukke? :?) A few special recommendations: The three old City-State Themes which are all available on youtube: "Born of the Boughs" "Navigator's Glory" "The Twin Faces of Fate" The old zone songs: "On Windy Meadows" and "Freedom" was old La Noscea "Whisper of the Land" was old Black Shroud "Twilight over Thanalan" was, obviously, Thanalan "Tears for Mor Dhona" was, again obviously, Mor Dhona (an awesomely creepy one at that) And a few other various battle themes and area themes that are quite good. "Nail of the Heavens" "Quick as Silver, Hard as Stone" "Flightless Wings" "Quicksand" And a special nod to "Tempest" which was used in the first round against 1.0's final boss and is QUITE the roller coaster. Crisiet Posted February 14, 2014 Share #33 Posted February 14, 2014 This has become a fast favourite of mine. It's just a shame it's so damn short. SP05hGIiGh0 Other favourites of mine have been posted already. Garuda and Ultima. Mmm. Link to comment
Dakki Posted February 14, 2014 Share #34 Posted February 14, 2014 I... I just found this... And... And... bPnBR5QOkz8 ALL THE AWESOME!!! Link to comment
Roda Posted February 19, 2014 Share #35 Posted February 19, 2014 Garuda, Titan, and Ultima Weapon all have my heart. Just love the contrast of the two primal songs with the fantasy setting, and I adore the vocals on the Ultima Weapon's song. EDIT: Ok, never mind. Just did the Good King Moogle Mog fight. That. That song. I choose that fight song. Link to comment
Seriphyn Posted February 25, 2014 Share #36 Posted February 25, 2014 OK, this is FAR better than the current standard dungeon boss theme they have. Really, the dungeon battle music for both trash and boss is seriously uninspired and lackluster imo, considering the generally high quality composition they have elsewhere. This actually -feels- more Final Fantasy than the sorry excuse they have in-game. Coil trash music is my favourite so far, along with the Castrum ambience music. EDIT: sigh, i hate this forum's quoting system. I meant from post #6 by Tequila Link to comment
Austratus Posted February 25, 2014 Share #37 Posted February 25, 2014 There's too much too like, I think. *The inn music (and the "going to sleep" jingle). *I'm glad they kept Twilight over Thanalan as the opening theme for starting in Ul'dah. *Speaking of Ul'dah, the city's night theme instantly struck me the first time I heard it. Both of Gridania's themes are a close tie at second. *In terms of battle music, the Black Shroud variation of the regular battle, and the first version of Boss FATEs. *Of the Primals? Titan. *Daytime Mor Dhona. *I finally got to go into Castrum Centri as per the story mission and it has a real Tron-ish vibe to it that I like. Link to comment

Tosheden Posted February 28, 2014 Share #40 Posted February 28, 2014 Wish I knew the exact name because it made me want to purchase the whole sound track when it's released. But I remember hearing it at the end of the level 40 monk quest >_> Link to comment
Chompie Posted March 5, 2014 Share #41 Posted March 5, 2014 My favorite song I've heard in my short time playing so far... the nighttime theme for Ul'dah is fantastic (and I LOVE how it follows the same general tune of the day one), but all my love is for the FATE miniboss music. Which I couldn't find anywhere on youtube to show my friends for an example. rMBhmyrcJAg It's not the most super-epic or even complex of songs, but something about it I just LOVE. Link to comment
Arkghyom Posted March 7, 2014 Share #42 Posted March 7, 2014 The one that plays at the beginning of The Praetorium. Link to comment
Braise Posted March 7, 2014 Share #43 Posted March 7, 2014 I obsess over the concert version of Answers. The one that came on Before Meteor seemed less passionate. My second fave is Rise of the White Raven, on the same cd. Link to comment
Aerostein Posted March 16, 2014 Share #44 Posted March 16, 2014 I'm not aware of the name, but I really liked that one that played briefly in the main story regarding the Sylphs early on. Link to comment
MayaKazumi Posted March 16, 2014 Share #45 Posted March 16, 2014 I'm quite partial to the opening of Haukke Manor, as well as that small tune that plays right before the boss. They both help to get across just how 'Grandiose' the manor is. I also like the music that plays in Little Solace, and pretty much all of the 'F.A.T.E. Boss' music. Oh, and also: DiB0-PFXv6U Ku-po! :moogle::moogle: Link to comment
