Kylin Posted September 27, 2010 Share #1 Posted September 27, 2010 Not sure if anyone here is guilty of using this, but just in case...Basically there are people who managed to get rank 30-50 already by using an exploit during guildleves and whatnot. I guess they'd basically prolong the guildleve as long as possible and just stand around casting enhancing/healing magic on party members to accumulate massive amounts of skill points. Statement from SE: We have confirmed an issue where players may obtain large amount of skill points by casting enhancing or healing magic to the party member. The issue is currently being addressed. Also we would like to remind that repeating this method intentionally is considered as fraudulent behavior. With players who have abused this method, an additional investigation shall be made and their account may receive penalty including account suspension in case we determine it to be malignant. The investigation is expected to take a while until the completion. For those of you who have happened to abuse this method without knowing it to be fraudulent, please report yourself through GM Call. By reporting yourself in, the amount of skill point and skill rank you have gained will be corrected by GM and the penalty to your account will be exempted. For details on account penalty and prohibited activities, please refer to the following pages. Koti Nexus Posted September 27, 2010 Share #3 Posted September 27, 2010 Yeah... I don't know why people do stuff like this, of coarse I don't really party, but I have sometimes gone by someone and cast a cure on them when they ain't in great shape, but that is common curtsy, but to stand around and spam cure and what not? I can see how that be a bit of a problem. Guess its a good thing Conjurers do more then just heal, eh? Link to comment
Trizzip Posted September 27, 2010 Share #4 Posted September 27, 2010 Yea, SE doesn't play around when it comes to stuff like this. Link to comment
Asytra Posted September 27, 2010 Share #5 Posted September 27, 2010 Hopefully they don't nerf cure and buff xp gains because of this. It would severely hurt healers who are playing legitimately. Link to comment

It's funny you mention that, because one of the original issues during Closed Beta I would hear about was how mages would fall behind in the skill point department, what with the focus on less direct damage to monsters and more supportive magic or abilities for a party. Guess they went a little too far in the other direction. Although. This actually does beg a really good question. What in the world happened to a certain anti-grind system stopping these people from getting to 30-50 in less than a week, if what Cas said is true? A loophole in the system when doing leves? Maybe. Edit: Oh, right. Physical level doesn't have that limiter, so getting that to 30-50 is entirely possible. How silly of me to forget! Link to comment
Zyanya Posted September 27, 2010 Share #7 Posted September 27, 2010 Wow ... good on them for cracking down on this! Do NOT mess with SE. :approve: Link to comment
Ellion Goto Posted September 27, 2010 Share #8 Posted September 27, 2010 Interesting, never heard of this in the game so far. However, it is correct to say that the casters are following a bit behind in skill-ups, their damage is burst so that's less casting and as already stated they have more involvement in group enhancement than ever. The casters in my guild are basically right now 3/4's the levels as my physical players with generally the same amount of playtime. Not so much a major issue but could probably use a little T.L.C. We're all hoping to see some major fixes from S.E. for their official grand launch because of exploits like this, and a nasty little glitch that is causing monsters to display "Your target is already engaged" while you are fighting it. So while it is beating the living crap out of you, you can't engage it because the system thinks someone else has it. The best you can do is de-target and kite it till it turns red. Because of this, the primary focus we've all went to was just Crafting until correctional patches. Link to comment

Even when duoing I can barely make enough actions to get any SP. If we're fighting really hard mobs and I try to cast a bunch all I get for my trouble is killed, not rank ups. It's a really effed up mechanic. I'm sure they did it so Mages won't out-scale Melee but it seems like a REALLY STUPID design choice to #1: Make the "healers" skill up slower than the tanks and #2: Make Protect, Shell and Raise mid to high level skills for Conjurer. It's like they want us to spend all of our time sitting around with death debuffs. Though I can't say I blame the players for exploiting, given how rubbish the combat experience is at the moment.... thank god for patches. Link to comment

I imagine they'll be adjusting aggro management for magic classes within a month or two, but for now it's fun times in casterland. Link to comment

Provoke is single target as well isn't it, with a cooldown? I think they have it out for us casters. Link to comment

Archer has enmity reducing abilities? /can totally bring herself to do that Also, our tanking types have all taken up casting subs so they can hold the aggro. It's kinda funny. Link to comment
Xzenivar Posted September 27, 2010 Share #13 Posted September 27, 2010 Well, Cure was mentioned specifically as having its aggro generation reduced come launch, perhaps other spells as well. Link to comment

Tanking in a group right now is sort of like what Siben mentioned with not getting enough actions in to get SP. Provoke costs a ton Stamina, plus keeping your shield arm up takes a bit, so you barely have any time to get hits in to gain SP. I couldn't imagine tossing healing on top of that,(Though I do when I'm soloing) which is really bad for me because I've been in the process of making what is basically a Paladin. Link to comment
Siben Posted September 28, 2010 Share #15 Posted September 28, 2010 There -is- an ability for conjurer that reduces your enmity by reducing the damage of your spells...I say nerts to that. I'm here for the damage ;P Link to comment
