Gharen Posted February 13, 2015 Share #26 Posted February 13, 2015 Callback to my CoH days but Rock, paper, scissors emotes. They add that and the game will be a better place. Link to comment
Dravus Posted February 13, 2015 Share #27 Posted February 13, 2015 I'd say my biggest desires at the moment are: - More options for character customisation. New hairstyles are nice and all, but we could really use some more variety in terms of faces and physiques. Why don't Miqo'te and Elezen have a muscle definition slider? Why do male Midlanders and Elezen share one of the exact same faces? I'd quite like a higher focus on some 'rugged but handsome' facial options for Miqo'te, Elezen and Midlander men. Granted the Au Ra may fit that niche perfectly but it'd be beneficial to offer some more variety for the original playable races to encourage more people to remain loyal to them. - Housing. Make it like Wildstar did it: affordable, in-depth and stress free. Make the gold and time sink the acquisition of exotic and exclusive pieces of furniture rather than the horrible process of stockpiling gil in the hope that a plot might be available for purchase. Heck, go a step further and tie player housing into the main storyline. Make it available to everybody. - Memoria. Some of you may know it from FF9 and I think it'd make a brilliant 'Crystal Tower' type raid. - More tragedy. I'll admit, I have a thing for bittersweet victories and tragic stories. I think it adds a great deal of depth, realism and emotion to a setting if handled tastefully. I think it'd be great if we ended up experiencing some major losses here and there - to keep the world feeling like progression is being made and that there's a real cost to war. Link to comment
Caspar Posted February 14, 2015 Share #28 Posted February 14, 2015 My hopes for the game: Basic Gameplay: 1. This is impossible, but the addition of a Support role. I think FFXIV could badly benefit from this. Most Full Party and Light Party content really doesn't need 2-4 DPS. The Bard was a strange choice for a DPS class, confused thematically IMO. I would have much preferred the class was either primarily a DPS or a Support role. People do enjoy playing those kinds of characters, and most classes in FFXIV are capable of putting out sufficient DPS to clear content, so it's hard to imagine a Support role not flourishing. Having only one DPS could create more problems, I'm aware, but there are plenty of classes I think would be popular as Support: Bard, Dancer, maybe make Corsair a gun-wielding support class or something. The lack of roles and flexibility is the most commonly harped-upon criticism of the game by FFXI fans. I think this change would greatly improve the game in that regard. 2. No need for Job-Class system. But they're already moving in this direction. 3. Greater cross-class skill choice. Again, a flexibility change. 4. Variable build choice. More flexibility I want to see some stats become more properly balanced against the others, such as Skill Speed, so that different builds can emerge, and you can equip to emphasize those strengths. 5. Changes to the server such that timers are a bit more flexible. I don't really understand how this works so well, but I play a lot of really lag sensitive classes, and I often find, at times of bad lag, my abilities do not hit and I have to use them again. This can really screw me up. Even during times of minor lag my crossbar rarely accurately displays what combo abilities are active due to simply not being able to keep up. (The lit up dotted line) It was mentioned there was some problem with the DoT tracking server or system and I would say that probably is related. Content: 1. More raids. I think something between the difficulty of Coil and CT really needs to be in the game to help less skilled players make that leap between easy content and hardcore content. I don't like seeing people feel intimidated and scared by the endgame stuff, and I think that would help them be less timid. As well, this would be useful for my previous idea of having greater build flexibility. 2. I'd like the Hunt system to be reworked in some way. Like say, there is a common criticism of the FFXI players, who like random death for some reason. One way to work this into the game is through lots of more dangerous random overworld mobs, but in my opinion this isn't very interesting and is unreasonably punishing to new players. To give people that feeling of "the overworld is dangerous," FOE monsters should be present. In Etrian Odyssey, monsters randomly wandered the labyrinth that were way more dangerous, like a midboss. Hunt monsters should function in that role IMO. Essentially, you get a notification like "You feel a dangerous presence" when they are near and can run away. Therefore you only have yourself to blame for getting killed, and it's not just effectively unavoidable death that lowers your EXP and forces you to do tedious busywork. They could aggro, depending on the monster. Some should be aggressive and others should not; variant behavior could make them have a vague 'personality' that makes them a little bit memorable, almost like something out of Monster Hunter, but nothing that extensive. They should also be MUCH harder to kill and give bigger rewards. More random drops that aren't just bonus seals! Things like cosmetic items and pets. This would IMO help make Hunting less frustrating (Load times no longer hamstring you as most monsters don't die so quickly.) as well as more rewarding and give the older players their sense of hazard in one fell swoop. They could even add EX level hunts that take essentially a full CT/ST set of alliances to kill. It doesn't have to be specifically this. I just hate Hunts and find them to be the least fun element of the game, even compared to obviously phoned in mechanics like Levequests and FATEs. 3. It's nice that PVP is growing, but I would like to see normal PVP be made more appealing. As it is I think it just lacks any real polish or balance, and there's no reason to play it IMO over battlegrounds. (Other than to dishonorably win trade!) 4. I'd like to see more sidestories, not just Hildebrand. I think the Moogle Mail quests indicate they have a lot of creative ideas as to setting and personalities populating it that could be very interesting to flesh out. A long quest chain I can get into is one I'll do for sure. Some of those NPCs can give us useful lore for rp, too, if only they had more quests delving into their situation. 5. Most endgame boss fights tend to take place in a circle or square. The mechanics are interesting, but the environment rarely matters. Coil 1 Asclepius had an interesting stage with lots of varying platform levels and "don't stand here" mechanics that presented an interesting challenge before the Echo. I want to see more moving battles or fights that aren't just "striking dummy" endurance tests. I know those benefit me as a Monk player, but I'd love to strain my brain figuring out how to keep up GL3 while chasing a monster between rooms, across platforms, etc. 6. I heard that in 1.0, and in FFXI, monsters would occasionally attack town. I'd like to see a new gameplay element that involves this. My Personal Fancy: 1. The three classes I wish to see in this game. Beyond that everything is a bonus; I'd be content just to have any of these three: samurai, red mage, dancer. 2. More Doman housing items. This is a given, I think, but I can't state it enough. Because I am shameless. =_= Also, I really, really want the ability to put a striking dummy indoors, as well as retainers. Don't leave retainers out in the cold! They're people too. Also let their name show, instead of just "Virara Vira's retainer." 3. I really, really want a Coerthas housing area. 4. The Emperor's New Weapon, and other such things, to have an invisible pair of MNK weapons. Some might find that boring, but I love the idea of appearing to just not have a weapon at all. 5. Maybe more faces and hairstyles. Also, more cosmetic clothing. I wouldn't mind a Chinese dress, big scarves for the neck piece, maybe some Garlean-inspired anachronistic looking clothes. Also, we only ever see Allagan battle gear. I wonder what sort of extravagant casual clothing they were capable of making with their advanced techniques? Some items aren't dyeable and that's annoying, etc. 6. I'd like to be able to buy the Yukatas in the cash shop... 7. An option to put eyepatch on left or right eye. 8. Persistent keel/bow/grovel emotes. (To kau tau continuously to a person of authority, for rp.) Toggle persistent expression. (Maybe just the minor ones. I don't want to watch people run around with an "ouch" face permanently.) 9. The ability to log out in the bed the same way you do in the Inn. 10. Ability to unlock housing appliances to Friends, or FC members if it's in your private room. 11. This would be horribly unbalanced and silly, but the ability to nonlethally duel with a person via invite. Link to comment
Blue Posted February 14, 2015 Author Share #29 Posted February 14, 2015 Just wanting to make one point sure since no one seems to have yet used the thread as I had intended it to be... I am not going to make threads for others' requests. I've posted my own threads in the opening post because those are the ones I have thought of and for which I'd like support. The intention of the thread is that, if you want to make some requests to the devs, then you should make a thread on the official forums, after which you post a link here, so that all of the RPC can see it and contribute to keep it up and get the Devs' attention. I know a lot of the RPC seems to avoid the official forums for some reasons, but I believe this would be a great way to make our voices be heard. I see a lot of great ideas in these posts, but still no links to actual threads made in direction of the Developers. I'd love to see some! Link to comment
Blue Posted February 19, 2015 Author Share #30 Posted February 19, 2015 Bumping this for justice, and to announce that one of our pleas has been heard and granted us a small victory! I'm talking about the Town Gear Wishlist thread! In fact, these are among the incoming Gold Saucer Rewards! Cheers! Link to comment

I also feel like her hood thing is more of a Ninja thing and less of an Au Ra thing. Link to comment

I don't think all Au Ras (nor all Eorzeans) will immediately be comfortable with how they look, so ways to conceal their features would be a nice addition to justify the fact that you CAN start the game as an Au Ra. Plus, I didn't really specify it has to be exactly like Yugiri's. something that matched their starting outfits would be best imo, so in the white/black tones. The shape could be different too for that matter, but I still think they deserve something to hide their faces/horns. Link to comment
PkThunda Posted March 3, 2015 Share #34 Posted March 3, 2015 A long braid for female characters, like this one; https://40.media.tumblr.com/c32936ce0b4d42660095df038e504679/tumblr_mto0qjcKkf1sik3x8o1_500.jpg[/img] I would kill for a braid like that. I just want long hairstyles that aren't cutesified by a headband or fluff. Link to comment

I think this assumes that they even explain you being able to play a new character as an Au Ra, which I kinda have my doubts that they will. I know Fern stated that the entire Ul'dah starting story was done in via the Echo in 1.0 (which is why we meet Minfilia as a little girl and an adult). I feel they are just going to have all Au Ra experience past events via the Echo, or just say it's the Echo until they are caught up to 3.0. With that in mind, if that is the case there is no reason for them to hide their appearance because they'd be following Yugiri into Eorzea more than likely and she's going to be unmasked this month. I will say that I'm not opposed to a similar hood/mask type thing getting added, I just don't feel it needs to be Au Ra racial gear. Link to comment
Blue Posted March 13, 2015 Author Share #36 Posted March 13, 2015 New thread was started on the official forums. Here is the link: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/224593-Suggestion-for-a-future-expansion-Industrial-Revolution-themed-ambientations.?p=2834958#post2834958 And here is the body if you're really that lazy. So I have seen many request various type of machinery implementations, as well as other things that many have pointed out do not fit either with Eorzea's current age nor with the Allagan Technology. I, personally, have expressed complaints on the lack of "dirt", filth or steam-punk details. For example, the water in The Tangle, in which the Castrum dumps its sewer waters and in which MORBOLS live, the water is crystal clear. Isn't that a bit off? So I'd love to propose, as early as this may be, to eventually let us have ambientations typical of the Industrial Revolution in Europe. This would include the typical things of the Industrial Revolution that occurred in the 800s, such as factories, labor, poverty, illnesses, and buildings that flourished thanks to the growing overpopulation in the cities: orphanages, workhouses, brothels, bad affairs alleys and so on. Let me show you some pictures from Fable III's Bowerstone to see what I mean: This would be a great expansion for the release of some things people have been demanding for a while, such as: - Machinery mounts - Trains and railways - A more 'dark' feel As for 'where' this could be taking place, the best I can think of is a country under Imperial control, that is slowly flourishing with the new technology, though also meeting the issues typical of an Industrial Revolution, from over-exploit of the natural resources, pollution, bad working conditions, child labor, etc. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Please give any kind of support to the original thread. Seriously, it doesn't take that long to log on the Official Forums, and Likes and replies over there do count for the devs! Link to comment
