Zetchryn Posted December 19, 2014 Share #1 Posted December 19, 2014 Do I make a collapse box on this? Or a strikethrough? My normal commands don't work! QQ Link to comment

Coatleque Posted December 19, 2014 Share #3 Posted December 19, 2014 Here is a BBCode reference for you as well. Not all tags may be used for a given forum, and there may be more 'custom' tags not listed here. http://www.bbcode.org/reference.php 1 Link to comment
Zetchryn Posted December 19, 2014 Author Share #4 Posted December 19, 2014 Thank you all! That definitely helped. The last forum I had did instead of [ s], as an example, so I had a moment of confusion. Link to comment
Warren Castille Posted December 19, 2014 Share #5 Posted December 19, 2014 When in doubt, reverse engineer it. Find someone who's said something you want to do and click the reply-with-quote button, then see what the quote box says. That's how I learned strikethrough on this forum. Link to comment
Zetchryn Posted December 19, 2014 Author Share #6 Posted December 19, 2014 I was trying that with the "Collapse" box, but for some reason it wasn't showing up properly, it was showing up like some sort of Spoiler tag. Link to comment
Warren Castille Posted December 19, 2014 Share #7 Posted December 19, 2014 I presumed that was what you meant. Sorry if that's misleading. Link to comment
Gegenji Posted December 19, 2014 Share #8 Posted December 19, 2014 The spoiler box IS the collapse box. You just give the box a name (i.e. [ spoiler=This Box] as opposed to just [ spoiler]). Unless you're referring to something else and I'm just making a fool out of myself. Link to comment
Zetchryn Posted December 19, 2014 Author Share #9 Posted December 19, 2014 Well, yes, it is, but I mean... It showed up like the little button in the upper right marked "Spoiler" (Which I just clicked and yet...) Link to comment
Zetchryn Posted December 19, 2014 Author Share #10 Posted December 19, 2014 To clarify: I wanted the drop down, the Rather then whatever the 'spoiler' tag option is Link to comment
Kage Posted December 19, 2014 Share #11 Posted December 19, 2014 To clarify: I wanted the drop down, the Rather then whatever the 'spoiler' tag option is I'm confused. Is this thing referring to what you want? Because it is the spoiler? Link to comment
Gegenji Posted December 19, 2014 Share #12 Posted December 19, 2014 Yeah. It is the Spoiler. The Collapsible Box on this forum is the Spoiler. The only difference is whether you give the spoiler box a name. Without name, i.e. [.spoiler][./spoiler]. With name, i.e. [.spoiler=ZOMGWTFBBQ][./spoiler] Link to comment
Zetchryn Posted December 19, 2014 Author Share #13 Posted December 19, 2014 Wait... Then... What is the option in the upper right marked spoiler? Er... Hold on, screenshotting... That far right one? It says "Insert a spoiler tag" Link to comment
Zetchryn Posted December 19, 2014 Author Share #14 Posted December 19, 2014 And yes, the drop down spoiler IS what I wanted. Link to comment
Kage Posted December 19, 2014 Share #15 Posted December 19, 2014 That's what you click to insert the code ? Link to comment
Gegenji Posted December 19, 2014 Share #16 Posted December 19, 2014 It's the same thing. It's really finicky, though, so I usually type it in manually rather than use the button. If you write something, highlight it, and then click that button, then you'll put it in a spoiler/collapsible box. Putting a name in the field that pops up will give it a name. Since the text field in New Post tends to automatically generate these things as they'd be seen in the post itself, it's hard to tell since it doesn't actually generate the box and instead invisibly "wraps" the section in it. The only way to see where it starts is if you give it a name, which is displayed in a different font. I have the same issue with pictures and youtube inserts when I insert it through the button or preview and thus turn my written BBcode into actual pictures and video. Link to comment
Zetchryn Posted December 19, 2014 Author Share #17 Posted December 19, 2014 But... Clicking it just creates a space for me, an empty space... 0-0 Suddenly I'm very very worried... At least I know what to type now. Link to comment

Gegenji Posted December 19, 2014 Share #19 Posted December 19, 2014 Yup, hella finnicky. I recommend just typing out the BBcode. That way you can visibly see what you're wrapping in the box. Link to comment
Kage Posted December 19, 2014 Share #20 Posted December 19, 2014 If you have issues I suggest hitting the icon for "View Source" instead and then using the Preview message to see how the coding works. (The icon next to the printer" Link to comment
Zetchryn Posted December 19, 2014 Author Share #21 Posted December 19, 2014 Tacos are yummy And suddenly the view source saves me. Thank you very much all. Sorry for being so amateur on the forums! Link to comment
Kage Posted December 19, 2014 Share #22 Posted December 19, 2014 No worries! I hated how the quotes and such were being viewed while I typed out responses. Some webpages are similar, where they allow you to work with the code instead of the actual product (if that makes sense) Link to comment
Steel Wolf Posted December 19, 2014 Share #23 Posted December 19, 2014 I think we've learned two important things here. One: How spoiler BBCode works Two: Tacos are yummy. 1 Link to comment
