gfdhg Posted December 28, 2014 Share #1 Posted December 28, 2014 So finally, after waiting 3 days, I got into Balmung! [massive cheers and applause] But I'm not quite sure where to start, or where to look around. As I said in my intro thread, I'm still learning all the lore and stuff but I guess I have a a general jist for some of my characters. Maybe this thread can also help those fresh off the meat train for starting up in Balmung as well. Where are all the RP hot-spot areas and where should I start if I'm looking for some RP? Even if my ideas are kind of board at the moment, I'm always up for random walk-ups and hey, practice makes perfect! ...Also, Was that rhetorical? Since my starting spot should be here? Oops. Anyway, guide the new blood around! please Link to comment

Anyway, guide the new blood around! please Best place is Ul'dah since many of the RPers are there via the Quicksand. Of course there's RP all over by as someone new it's a good place to start. If you want to learn more about the lore, check out the levequests, FATEs, and read NPC dialogue to find little gems of lore wisdom here and there. There are also threads spanning over the forums on various topics if you use the search bar to see what everyone has contributed Link to comment
Shayrei Posted December 28, 2014 Share #3 Posted December 28, 2014 Congratulations on defeating the first boss! Character Creation Restrictions! Ul'dah is very much a crowded place, the Quicksand specifically. Lots of RP to be found and lost in. If you look for it, though, you're bound to find RP anywhere. I, personally, stroll Limsa daily. You'll find RP in FCs and LSs also. Take a look at some of them here, if you're interested. I suggest digging through some of the lore gathered in the wikis out there, if you're in need of questions answered, or just posting specific questions here. Lots of folks enjoy being able to share their knowledge with new comers. Welcome! I hope you enjoy your stay! Link to comment
Roen Posted December 28, 2014 Share #4 Posted December 28, 2014 Yes! Welcome to Balmung! I will echo the advice given by previous posters. Quicksand in Ul'dah has the highest concentration of RPers per square feet at any given time, although that does not mean you cannot find RP in other locations. But if you want a place to practice random walk up RP, Quicksand is the place to go. That's where I got my start. Also, if you are looking to make connections, this folder is a great place to look around for other players looking to do the same. I have also combed through story posts and forum OOC posts in general to look for like-minded players and personalities that I want to contact for possible RP opportunities. Just a thought. Anyway, good luck and have fun! Link to comment
gfdhg Posted December 28, 2014 Author Share #5 Posted December 28, 2014 I forget what a helpful RP community feels like sometime. I need to finish that Airship quest to transfer to Ul'Dah (Cercil is supposed to be a Scholar so I've been stuck in Limsa for a while now.) But Quicksand seems to be my stop, got it! Suiting since it's more or less a giant metropolis. In the middle of a freaking desert. Ah, fantasy. As for Linkshells and connections (and other stuff), I think I want to establish myself a little more with characters and maybe after some walk-ups and such, or just get a feel of how RP works in FFXIV. But I'll start jotting down and bookmarking some stories and OOC posts for RP connections, for now - I just wanna look around and voyeur look at some of the current ongoing RP. Thank you for all the advice! Link to comment
Kage Posted December 28, 2014 Share #6 Posted December 28, 2014 You should be able to find some Limsa RP definitely too! There should be a thread somewhere about Limsa connections your character may be able to make. Link to comment
