Jackal & Hide [EU]

By the Twelve, it's been so long since this was bumped it might have looked like we were... not doing anything!

(I wish.  Maybe that means we could get some sleep rather than RPing until some interesting times in the morning >_>;)

Alas... we've just been focussed a little more on our own little community to ensure that everyone is settled, and fitting in well.

And... it's my absolute joy to announce that everyone now seems to be settled and fitting in well! :D A big welcome to Kheja, Lani and Locke who have joined the ranks of minions members that the Jackals can bring to bear on jobs, complementing our arsenal of offensive Aether users, stinky sneaky Hobbitses, and engineers respectively.

We now have an engineer in a salvage company.  I'm looking forward to seeing what creeps forth from this dastardly combination. *Cackle* May Locke be successful in engineering... your doom! *Strokes Ming the Merciless beard*

So what -has- been happening, event-wise?  Well!  As Continuing from Inarah's last post, we had another Missing Member (Obviously.  That's what we do.  It's our thing.)

Alas, no screenshots from me for this one, I sadly had to miss much of it.

There *was* this weeks Missing Member however!  Screenshots were taken at this one!  We're getting a great FC turnout at these, but we'd love to see more folks from outside the FC make an appearance!  Chatscroll isn't *that* bad, either!

And of course, there was the last Sunny Seaside Bar, that Inarah discussed.  I'm mentioning it here 'cause i want to post more screenshots.

There have been a couple PvE nights! (Last night we attempted turns 1- 5 with a lot of freshfaces!)

Of course, there are screenshots for this, too.

But that's all well and good, I hear you cry, but where are the -events-?!?  Well... great question, have an answer!

We've had two major FC story events, both one-off adventures, with the next likely to occur in/around Ishgard given that our next big plot night happens in HW early access!

The first was following on from an earlier shipwreck salvage event, where we found a battered old stone tablet.  Having had one of our resident scholarly sorts decipher the tablet, it turned out to be instructions, in the form of a riddle, leading to a hunt for an unnamed treasure. Puzzles were solved, ruins were explored, and at the end of the day, having formed a Jackal pyramid, the ultimate treasure was recovered.

None other than... the Jade Chocobo!  Half the size of the average Lalafell, we're currently having it valued and look forward to turning a tidy profit on this baby!  If your character is the sort to be interested in purchasing a giant jeweled bird, give us a yell.  We'll offer a... competive rate on it, promise!

Afterwards, as we were in the region, we hit the Hermit's Hovel for a bit of R&R, of course.

And this Saturday just gone, our very own Romi called together the FC for a bit of a personal... errand.  I use the term errand loosely, as we were essentialy breaking and entering an old gaol that we're fairly sure we weren't meant to actually be in, but... oh well!  Since when has that ever stopped us, eh?

End result, Romi found the book she was after, belonging to one of the old prisoners.  We... really should speak with her about what was in the that book, come to think of it...

The wait is nearly over. Heavensward early access launches in less than 24 hours and we're all rolling around on the floor helplessly spending the maintenance downtime being productive! In the meantime, let's recap what we've been up to this week.

Sunday was spent searching for Ludivine, who had been mysteriously absent of late. It turns out she was kidnapped so it was down to us to rescue her and make the person responsible for it pay.

2289340.jpg

Our evening at the Missing Member on Monday was rather subdued as the events from the previous night still weighed heavily on us.

2289328.jpg

Luckily, Lani's housewarming party on Tuesday put us in a better mood.

2290248.jpg

Last but not least, we downed Twintania in T5 on Wednesday! Most of our informal raid group had never attempted it before so we're quite proud of all of you. It was a fantastic note to end A Realm Reborn on and we look forward to tackling more current content when Alexander launches.

We expect people will be eager to start levelling and try out the new jobs so our RP schedule will be a bit light for the first couple weeks of Heavensward. However, we'll continue our Missing Member meet ups as usual and the Sunny Seaside Bar will be open on the 27th of June.

See you all in Ishgard!

What a week it's been! Heavensward arrived and the Jackals swiftly raced to Ishgard to discover a whole new world. We're devouring the lovely lore tidbits found throughout the quests and coming up with ideas for future events as well as contemplating how the company as a whole will evolve and grow. Of course, with server stability issues and the natural focus on levelling at present, roleplay has become less of a priority but we still managed to find time for each other.

Monday we were at the Missing Member and got to meet some mysterious people who have recently begun appearing all over Eorzea, known as the Au Ra.

2294698.jpg

Last night, Kilid arranged another game of dodgeball. There were a few injuries but it was all in good fun, right? Nothing personal at all about that projectile bashing you in the face, right?

2297915.jpg

We also have some important news! After much discussion and debate between Kilid and myself, we've decided to take on two officers to help us out with leading our pack of Jackals. Platinum Mountain and Romimo Romi have run their own events in the past and been assisting us behind the scenes for awhile now so it was merely the next logical step to make it official. Our new Agents will continue running events, pick up a share of the administration duties and be a point of contact when our members need to speak to a leader. Congratulations you two and thank you so much!

Which brings us to another important announcement: our pack has grown rather quickly lately and we've had to make the hard decision to close recruitment for the foreseeable future. Unfortunately, we can't give an accurate estimate as to when we plan on opening our doors again, but if you've been thinking about joining and don't want to wait, please check out the Linkshell Hall here at the RPC for an alternative.

We've got a lot planned for the rest of this week and next week, with many of our crew running some events of their own, the Sunny Seaside Bar tomorrow and the return of our company plotline, so hang onto your ears, or horns, or tails, or whatever you have, and get ready for some fun!

The past week or so has been quite busy as usual for a perfectly legitimate salvaging business. Many of our members have hit 60 and started infiltrating Alexander already, whilst our glorious leaders may or may not still be suffering through the Churning Mists. We're hoping to start up company runs of the new raid next week when we have more people levelled and geared.

As far as roleplay goes, Sayuri took us out into the wilderness to search for paint ingredients last Wednesday so she can start redecorating for us. I hear there were only minor complications so well done. We're looking forward to seeing what she does with the shop!

Friday night, however, didn't go so well. The Jackals headed to Coerthas on what was meant to be a simple caravan escort but were ambushed by a horde of heavily armed bandits and a magitek colossus! Most of the pack sustained heavy injuries and, if it weren't for the chirurgeon who happened to pass through at the time, it's most likely we'd have had casualties as well. We spent Saturday recovering in nearby Fallgourd Float and then got the shipment back to Limsa via airship from Gridania on Sunday.

2305078.jpg

Needless to say, we've all been scratching our heads, wondering just what in the seven hells went wrong. Something fishy is afoot and it's now down to the Jackals to find out more!

This coming Saturday we host the Sunny Seaside Bar again and will have Kilid's dodgeball as our entertainment. We've played quite a few games within the company and it seems to be enjoyed by everyone so we hope to see folks there for a bit of fun!

As we kicked off our next company plotline last week, it was time again for me to write a summary. Enjoy!

Act 3: The Silk Road

Chapter 1

It was meant to be an easy job. Escort the silks and other Ishgardian fineries from Camp Dragonhead to Limsa Lominsa. The Jackals would take the long road, through the Shroud to Thanalan, and use the caravan as a cover for the real work. Their sights were set on a small Garlean convoy; magitek parts and other riches awaited them. The true nature of the mission was kept a secret, even to the pack, for the time being due to the risk involved should they be found out prior to making the hit. Yet all their safety measures and careful planning fell spectacularly apart as they ventured through the icy landscape of Coerthas.

The ambush was swift and brutal. Men armed to the teeth assaulted those guarding the caravan itself, whilst the scouting group further ahead were met by a magitek colossus. Almost all of the Jackals suffered terrible injuries and, in some cases, would not have lived to tell the tale had it not been for the Au Ra chirurgeon passing by at the time. Their foes eventually perished or fled but the price paid for their success was heavy indeed.

The pack gathered up the wounded and spent the next day recovering in Fallgourd Float. The question on everyone's minds was the same: how did this happen? Some began blaming each other whilst others blamed themselves. Theories and suspicions were raised but no answer could be found at the time.

Moving on to Gridania and taking airship flight to Limsa the following day, the Jackals arrived home safely and the arguments began in earnest. Inarah finally explained that the job was a cover, and perhaps their plan had, after all, been discovered by their prey. The fact she kept this secret enraged some of the pack and the threads tying them all together began to fray.

Requiring answers of her own, Inarah took Aeron with her to search for answers in Limsa's underbelly whilst Kilid headed north to Coerthas. Although Kilid's efforts were futile, Inarah's bore fruit; an enigmatic woman known only as The Ruby promised to give her the information she desired, but only if the Jackals succeeded in their planned attack on the Garlean convoy. With little else to go on, and a promise of appraisers and buyers for the goods they would recover, it seemed an offer she could scarcely refuse.

Was this too convenient, too good to be true? Were the Jackals in over their heads? Only time, and the outcome of the next job, would tell.

We've kept busy the past moon or so, settling in our latest wave of initiates to the Jackal pack, and now we're opening our doors to recruitment once more! If you're interested in joining a ragtag bunch of lunatics perfectly normal people for fun, adventure and of course some sweet, sweet gil, fill out an application and we'll be in touch.

But enough about that! What have we been up to, you undoubtedly ask, with bated breath? Last Friday, Fejika had a job for the Jackals that ended in goblin murder and explosions which nearly took out Fejika herself and two of our crew. Luckily for the injured three, their recovery has come along nicely, but we doubt this is the last we've heard from the mysterious villains who caused all the trouble.

Last Saturday we opened the Sunny Seaside Bar again and had the first inter-FC dodgeball match! Nailah's Kindred put up a good fight but the rolls were with the Jackals for once and we stood triumphant.

2324676.jpg

Monday was another night at the Missing Member, with 100% more cake than last time. Aeron will attest to how amazing it was, seeing as he ate nearly half of it all to himself. Finally, just yesterday we travelled to some ruins in the North Shroud to decipher more riddles and discover the secrets of the Jade Chocobo.

2333482.jpg

This week, we hit up the Missing Member again tonight and then on Saturday the bar is once more ready for customers, with rumours of a cooking contest in the works for entertainment. Look forward to seeing you all there!

I've been busy this morning and can now present chapters 2 and 3 of our current company plotline!

Chapter 2

It was time to take out the Garlean convoy. The patrol routes had been studied, Locke had been busy making explosives and the pack was running like a well oiled machine. They all met in Northern Thanalan and split up into groups. Inarah led the charge northwest to set explosives along the convoy's route, Kilid's party headed northeast to the rendezvous point and Platinum brought up the rear with the rest of the healers.

Each group ran into minor scuffles with Garlean patrols or local wildlife but the assault largely started off smoothly. The convoy hit the line of explosives and the accompanying soldiers were initially too busy with the ensuing fire to take much note of the Jackals. Their magitek reapers and vanguards suffered enough damage from the blasts that it didn't take long for the pack to make short work of them.

Everything went off without a hitch until the soldiers noticed the company and attacked. The Jackals fought fiercely at first; as time went on, however, it became clear that most of their enemies were actually conscripts and wanted no part of the bloodshed. They were given a chance to surrender but those who did were swiftly turned on by their fellow soldiers and shot dead where they stood, with hands held up in appeasement.

When the smoke cleared, there was plenty of magitek scrap and others valuables to be salvaged from the wreckage, but the deaths seemed to weigh heavily on the hearts of the victors. To complicate matters further, upon one of the fallen soldiers was a bundle of parchment; it appeared to be a contract between the Empire and a mercenary company called the Bloody Axes. The date and location for the contracted hit was precisely the same as the Jackals' ill-fated Coerthas job. More curious still, there was a hastily written addendum upon the contract which read, "Kill them. The Crowe will not tolerate delays."

Who was this Crowe and why did she or he want to eliminate the Jackals?

Chapter 3

With the Thanalan job now complete, Inarah and Aeron were due to again meet with The Ruby about both payment and answers. She explained the true nature of her interest in the company; she worked for the Maelstrom itself, particularly in keeping tabs on the Garlean Empire. She proposed that the Jackals continue working for her, and in turn the Maelstrom, by continuing to put down threats from the Garleans. In return, she would encourage the Maelstrom to turn a blind eye to the company's less legal operations and provide easy avenues for selling the spoils of victory. Should they refuse, however, the threat of the law bearing down upon them was very real indeed.

The Ruby also revealed that one of the pack was in actuality a former Garlean soldier: Thya Kazhuun. Whether Thya still held any loyalty to the Empire, she wouldn't say, but it was clear that the Jackals were entangled in this far more than they probably could ever have dreamed, and perhaps did not have much of a choice in accepting The Ruby's proposal.

Inarah and Aeron decided that, for the time being, they would keep this bombshell of information from the rest of the pack. The last thing they needed now was another round of distrust and controversy. Putting on happy faces, they merely delivered the good news that the items were sold off for a tidy profit and everyone would receive a bonus for their efforts.

Howdy folks!

Busy busy busy times indeed for the Jackals of late, what with two Missing Member events, two Sunny Seaside Bar events (including the six month anniversary! Where does the time go?), another successful salvage operation, the loss of a loved character, the appointment of a new officer, the beginning of the Jackalendar shots, a trip to the Golden Saucer, and still yet more!

Although before we get started on this, first let me give a huge congratulations to Aeron, who has the dubious honour of being given the grand title of Agent!  May his reign of terror be sweetened by the collective tears of our foes! (But in all seriousness, congratulations on becoming an officer!  We'll try not to dump too much work on you.  Semi-promise!)

A2FRL2q.png

(See more of this gallery here)

The Missing Member continues to be our weekly FC gathering point, for regular catch-ups, socialisation, and the occasional drunken dare to dive off the tower into the frigid waters below.  Naturally, we keep the event open to just about anyone who'd want to come and join in!  Don't be afraid to leap into the RP, or even to whisper if you're looking for an 'in' to the proceedings somehow, folks!  We don't bite unless you pay a special fee.

zCMT4QM.png

nKa3yhY.png

(See more of the first gallery here, and the second here!)

The Sunny Seaside Bar celebrated a whopping twelfth event for its sixth month anniversary by hosting a tasteful cook-off event!  It was a great night, and a great milestone, and it's only great because of the people that continue to turn up and make it what it is, so a great big thank you to everyone that made it that night, and any other night!  We love you all.  This was followed a fortnight later by the (un?)lucky 13th, which garnered one of our largest crowds yet and saw the Jackals lose their first ever external Dodgeball tournament!  We regained some honour by winning the final match of the three, but still, our congratulations for the night go to the Kindred for winning those first two rounds.

ykIgatd.png

(See more of this gallery here)

Jackal & Hide struck again!  Or, to be precise, our salvage operation did.  A risky excursion to the Umbral Isles paid dividends, as the wreck of half of a Garlean cruiser was plundered of salvageable materials, and a small amount of surviving technology that should fetch a tidy little sum once fenced off into the correct hands!  With, of course, a small amount set aside for our eager engineers to play with down in the depths of the workshop...

It4z6lm.png

(See more of this gallery here)

After all the excitement of late, a break was definitely on the cards, and being Jackals, we did it with style!  An all-expenses-paid trip to the Saucer, filled with games, gambling, and gluttony helped to ease the stress we've been feeling of late, although some things still weigh heavily on the collective FC's mind...

mJaMEOa.png

(See more of this gallery here)

... such as the passing of Romimo Romi.  The news was broken to the company as a whole not long after Locke brought the terrible news to Inarah and Kilid.  While no body was found, an excursion to the site of her fateful last moments was made by Inarah, Kilid, Kheja, and Locke in the hopes of finding... something.  The head of her staff was successfully recovered, which is... something, right?  A proper send-off is in the works.  It'll be grand.  Romi would have loved it.

bu1qpJ0.jpg

(See more of this gallery here)

And, of course, not to mention the myriad other smaller and personal events that take place inbetween!  Several personal plots are currently in the works (And as I type this, one is happening right now!), and, naturally, we encourage of more you to start stories too!  More stories, more RP.  More RP, more fun!  More fun... hells...

MOAR E'RYTHING!

Hope to see you all in Emoarzea soon!

HEY EVERYONE!

First and foremost, bear with me as this is the first news post you'll be seeing that is written by me and not the legendary Kilid nor Inarah. I'm sure this will become an easier task in due time but with the strength of a thousand Amal'jaa I will succeed! Though it's been a while since we've had one of these I believe the last time you read one of these glorious information, news posts of ours you were left in sadness at the fact Romi had died yet still we searched on. So lets pick this up there shall we?

So we're there all quite saddened by the loss of a good friend yet as always the world doesn't stop spinning just because of a few tears here and there, business has to keep flowing it's usual way to keep that gil coming in and we don't lose the roof over our heads. Somewhere during the searches for our beloved Romi that had passed away which you were informed about in the 'Romimber' post, a form of trade agreement was set up with the Vath. Those bug boys down in the forelands, yeah you know.. The clickers whenever they spoke or walked. But in the aftermath of the amazing plot that was Romi's personal story her wounded body had been found by them and she was safely returned to us! Great news!

--------

... but we can't take a break just yet as other plots designed by our various members keep throwing themselves at us. Be they a story of intrigue or simple cracking skulls. The story and plot developed by one of our own at how her past was finally catching up to her and she asked the rest of the Jackals help to make sure nobody would find themselves becoming the target of this devil-ish person from her past. From the shop to the beaches of Costa Del Sol and in a small boat to a bigger boat filled with pirates we went to battle the main villain of the story! With success even.

--------

... Not a few suns later we find ourselves in a place where water is but a distant memory, surrounded by the endless sand of the Sagollii we had ventured alongside a guide in search of an airship that had crashed down somewhere on it's way to the Golden Saucer. Easy, right? Not if it was up to the sand worm lurking deep within the sands awaiting it's prey. Eventually we found the airship and collected some of the goods before we all became the breakfast to a gigantic sand worm, unfortunately not all is good news as we discovered the fact that some passengers had survived the crash and were captured by the Amal'jaa! A rescue... For another time.

--------

... But after all that danger, despair and adventure it's about that time again. Isn't it? Another seaside bar where everyone gets a moment to simply relax. Well between the last news post we had more then one seaside bar! One seaside bar event saw us hold a cooking contest and the more recent one was filled with fashion in our contest as people joined in to be crowned the winner of the fashion contest. That place ended up going to Redera Rykker with her gorgeous outfit yet with a close second of Rosie and a third position held by Aldyet with her alley-brawler outfit.

--------

As usual we still have long roads ahead of us with various plots created by our members, the agents and FC leaders who brought us all together J'inarah and J'kilid. It's truely an amazing thing to look forward to and ofcourse to inform the rest of you of what has been going on within this FC and perhaps lure you to us with promises of tears of joy, sadness and some cake in the mix.

And to notify the world and deliver good news, we would also like to welcome Cassandra Lachance to the Jackals and Hide as one of the newly appointed Agents to aid with the on-coming work of more glorious things for us all to do!

The next update of our on-goings will 'possibly' arrive towards the end of September to start it off fresh in October.

Prosperous times for the Jackals! A successful rescue operation was conducted in Southern Thanalan, resulting in the release of three prisoners from the clutches of the Amalj'aa. Meanwhile, progress was made in the ongoing campaign against the cult of the Followers of the New Dream. Though the leaders of the cult remain free, the Jackals were able to obtain an object that is coveted by Mr. Sand and his gang. All this with no significant injuries to any of our folks!

The Jackals’ latest job wasn’t quite as successful, however. Hired to find and escort someone to safety, the group found nothing but the dead body of the woman they were meant to protect. Although no Jackals were hurt, there’s definitely a storm in the horizon.

The past couple of weeks brought some much needed leisure time for our members as well. The last edition of the Sunny Seaside Bar included a mixology contest that was won by Nailah, with ‘The Rainbow’, which will now be permanently featured on our menu. There was even time for a fishing trip! The Jackals also welcomed two new members, Ebony Spring and Kalam’ra Shadhavar!

Last but not least, thanks to the effort of Kilid, Xiv and all other contributors, the Jackalendar is complete! We get to show all of Eorzea our radiant beauty, and it’s for charity!

After another story arc involving death and bloodshed came to its conclusion, it was high time for the Jackals to take a break with more social pursuits. The Sunny Seaside Bar was a lovely diversion, as usual, and we came away from a game of dodgeball with one more win to our name! Jino arranged a relaxing tea party for all of us on Friday and we took the chance to introduce ourselves to all the new members of our pack. The next day, we headed out to Thanalan to sell ourselves for charity at a friendly date auction. The proceeds, naturally, went to our Sunny Futures Fund to help the impoverished and struggling souls all throughout Eorzea. Finally, last night we travelled to the Goblet to sell our wares at the Jackal Crafts Faire arranged by Ludi.

A calm before the storm, perhaps...?

2395184.jpg

Our PVE nights are still alive and kicking as well. With Coil done and dusted, we didn't rest on our laurels, oh no. Bismarck Ex was tackled next and we made sushi out of that whale! (Left to right: Kheja, Zel, Xiv, Plat, Inarah, Kilid, Locke and Aeron.) Ravana awaits!

2393890.jpg

This week we have our usual events, with the Missing Member on Monday and PVE on Wednesday, but the Sunny Seaside Bar will be relocating to the Silver Bazaar in Western Thanalan for one night. Why? Because the First Annual Flames Festival is being held there and we'll be providing the food and drinks for the evening! Once that's over, we'll be getting back into the swing of combat with some All Saints' Wake-themed events and spooky happenings for the Jackals. Hope you're all prepared!

Ho there, it's your newest Agent Locke, here to give you the recent happenings in Jackal & Hide!

There will be no puns.

These month's events were frightening(I lied) delightful! All was well... Our Craft Faires were moving ever forward with the Jackals displaying their finest wares for the community, members gathering weekly at the Missing Member which is ironic since members try not to miss it, fighting Garleans and putting an end to the threat against the Jackals...

600x337http://files.enjin.com/925363/module_gallery/full/2409091.jpg[/img]

And then...All Saint's Wake. It all began with a strange happening around the house, a spooky painting, a horrific haunting with dancing and singing―whether they liked it or not! The festivities, perhaps, put the Jackals on the wrong foot(ugh), or perhaps...the right one? Maybe both, alternately, in rhythm..!

Our very own Sunny Seaside Bar riled and reveled with in these spooktacular(no) traditions, with a dastardly disguises and bloodcurdling beverages! Congratulations to the winners of the contest, your costumes were a treat(I'm so sorry) for all, make no bones(help) about it!

600x317http://files.enjin.com/925363/module_gallery/full/2413814.jpg[/img]

But with the All Saint's Festivities a mere ghost(no more) of our past, the Jackals moved forward! First with our Legend of the Jade Chocobo, where we followed the tricky trail of transcribed tablets into tiers of traps! We came out of it...mostly unscathed, but not without a chest of shiny booty and another tablet!

600x321http://files.enjin.com/925363/module_gallery/full/2418493.jpg[/img]

Donned in bling and looking dapper, the Jackals went undercover in the hopes of finding a murderer aboard a fancy boat party off the shores of Costa del Sol. We got up close and personal with the nobility, rooting out sources while trying to be as unconspicuous as possible. And we got our man! Sort of. Man of a man, but close enough, right? Right..?

600x337http://files.enjin.com/925363/module_gallery/full/2421947.jpg[/img]

There's been pony farming, grinding Alexander's gears, and prepping our airships for some exploration (2 built within the month). Needless to say, we're ready for the new content that's been unleashed in 3.1! See you all there!

The past month has seen the Sunny Seaside Bar and Jackal Crafts Faire come and go, pony and Coil farming on our PVE nights and a few RP events run by some of our pack. We also had another clue in our current company plotline, the great alchemy mystery.

2440239.jpg

As the holidays draw ever near, however, it's time to wind things down and relax before the New Year kicks in with a vengeance. We had our last Sunny Seaside Bar of the year, Starlight themed of course, just last night in the snowy hills of Coerthas.

dOsdurA.png

Coming up on Friday, the Jackals will be meeting in our home for our very own Starlight feast; on the following Monday, our "Secret Santa" gifts will be given out. But the big highlight of this moon has to be the wedding of Cassandra and Ludivine on Saturday, only our second wedding ever in the company! Congratulations, you two!

We'll also be opening our doors to applications for new members come January so watch this space!

All of us here at Jackal & Hide wish you a very merry Starlight and a happy New Year!

Though December has been a month of rest for the Jackals, Starlight was indeed full of joy! We started off the season to be jolly with a feast that included an enormous turkey, capable of feeding about a dozen Jackals, including Bert and Thya! And of course, there was also cake!

600x337http://files.enjin.com.s3.amazonaws.com/925363/module_gallery/original/2452462.jpg[/img]

Bonus: Lalafell screenshot.

On their second attempt, Ludivine and Cassandra were finally wedded, the ceremony was attended by many Jackals and other friends of the couple, as well as their adoptive dog-son, the majestic Ruffles.

600x337http://files.enjin.com.s3.amazonaws.com/925363/module_gallery/original/2453271.jpg[/img]

A Secret Santa was also part of the festivities! But with Starlight now over and the heavens turned, the Jackals once again face new challenges! The first job of the year was a rescue operation headed by Cass. The Jackals saved a dozen Coeurl kittens, some of which were even adopted (because we needed more cats in the house)! The Jackals received an ominous warning however. Will there be consequences? Only the future will tell!

600x337http://files.enjin.com.s3.amazonaws.com/925363/module_gallery/original/2487127.jpg[/img]

A little R&R was in order, and so the Jackals enjoyed themselves at the Kindred's Friendly Date Auction and at the year's first Sunny Seaside Bar! The new year also called for a new menu!

600x323https://i.imgur.com/NVX9KzD.jpg[/img]

Despite the abundance of cats in the house, the Jackals somehow noticed that one of them was missing! Thya was gone, and so a second kitten rescue was organized. It didn't go quite as well as the first one however, several Jackals were injured and Thya's whereabouts are still uncertain. She will no doubt be found though, for no Jackal will be left behind!

Stay tuned for more kitten rescuing! We also have special things planned for our one-year anniversary, coming up next week!

Mmhmm! Ooohh yes! That's right folks... it's time for Ol' Papa Kilid here to bring you beautiful people up to speed on the latest events and goings on within Jackal & Hide. It's been a busy ol' month, so grab a pew, help yourself to a drink, and get settled, we could be here some time...

First off, let's get the introductions done! A huge Jackal welcome to the following:

Lloyd Rivers

And a huge welcome back to:

Ciciru Ciru

tu4lUTo.png

Right! With that out of the way, what's been going on? Well, first and foremost, there's been all the usual, but still ever-exciting, personal RP. Storylines popping up left, right and center!

Long-lost family have been re-united!

The darkest depths of souls have been searched! (And hopefully returned from)

Someone keeps eating all the damned cakes in the kitchen!

And that's just the stuff that's been happening outside of our scheduled programming hours! Hooooo boy, has there been a lot happening since the winter break! So much so that, yes, I'm abusing exclamation marks, and I just don't care!

So, starting off, there was the continuation of the company storyline, returning to a manor in the Shroud that we knew was home to some rather unpleasant experiments. In usual Jackal style, by the time we left the building was crumbling, which is convenient as it hides the bodies.

K9S2X98.png

qGfYdKP.png

(Magitek and coated shields ftw!)

Parts two and three of the Thya rescue were played out, and the character is now returned to us! Even less of a training Warrior than ever before (We're hopefully working on that, see above!), but they're back and mostly in one piece! Which is always a desirable end goal when it comes to a rescue, ne?

Sadly, we did lose the Reclaimer, our first airship and joint-baby of both Kilid, who wanted the ship made so damned badly (With more cannons. Always with more cannons!), and Locke, who oversaw construction of the beauty.

LpkroHy.png

uUgk2vG.jpg

(Ladies and gentlemen, the survivors of team two!)

We've had a few of the usual Missing Member Monday gatherings, which now form the basis of our weekly IC updates, bringing our own folks up to speed on the latest goings on within the Jackals. Which is always nice!

fES4pgH.png

YgM9MkF.png

Surely that's it, right? There can't be more, how much awesome can one post contain? Well I'm afraid this ride is far from over. How about the Sunny Seaside Bar? Oh yes, that happened. It turns out my counting has been a bit off, and this was only the 22nd bar, at that!

Major kudos to Savo for taking up the challenge of our 'quiet bar' and turning up to perform. This was the first time Kilid had the chance to hear one of her performances, and boy was he impressed. A second gil purse wound it's way to her for being thoroughly entertaining, while oddly moving at the same time.

Beautiful songs performed that night!

fGEtuH3.png

kPfF2mm.png

Oh, and there was the little matter of Jackal and Hide turning a whopping one year old, too! A two-part event was held to celebrate this, the first of which being a conclusion to our current major plot arc that had us sneaking (... I use the term 'sneaking' loosely) aboard the airship of what we believed to be the mastermind of the current plot. Not a bad result, that night. Guards were dealt with, a prisoner was taken, and we got an airship to replace the one we lost rescuing Thya!

The prisoner died under mysterious circumstances, but what can you do, eh? (Really, no Jackals were involved in the death of this prisoner.)

Anyway, part two occurred after we'd stripped the excess luxury from the airship, and palmed the cargo off onto the relevant resellers, and took place in the Maelstrom camp, Bronze Lake! Food, drink, and some well-deserved relaxation was had by all that night, in a stunning setting. And not a Tonberry in sight!

iMLowCj.png

D6LBa0z.png

Done yet? Nope! Getting there though, I promise. See, that overarching plot event? It wasn't entirely wrapped up, there was the little matter of a rather heavily enhanced mutant Amalj'aa to deal with. And as luck would have it, the combat system we're testing needed to go through a trial-by-fire in regards to the toughest foes we'd be facing. What followed was a lengthy battle that, I think, introduced the fundamentals needed to take on just about any foe that the Jackals may come up against in the future.

4kZbw3Y.png

6YFtp3o.png

But you're done now Kilid, right? Surely that's it. How much can one FC do in a month?! Oh bless you, sweet Summer child. See, we have new members. They'd not experienced the delights of dodgeball yet (A dodgeball league is in the works, don't worry! We just need a few more FC's to experience the delight of ball-based battle.) and so, we had a dodgeball night! Just the one round, sadly, but still... hopefully the bug has bitten, and the newbloods can take to the field of battle again soon.

RClHfZv.png

WPfOEgr.png

VTgBnQY.png

Know what? There's more! Jackal & Hide teamed up with the Kindred to paint several towns red, after drinking them dry.

A joint-FC pub crawl happened, exploring the various taverns and inns created by various FCs about the community before ending at the Kindred's spa-bar, and I'll be damned if we don't do something like this again in the near future. It. Was. AWESOME.

But what's a salvage shop without things to sell? Aside from what we stripped from the aforementioned airship, anyway! A member event happened! Cait led a motley crew deep into a crypt in search of suitable treasure! Frustratingly, I wasn't able to make that event myself, but given that I may well be nearing the cap for screenshots in a post, that's... probably a good thing.

Anyway! Back on track, treasure was found, fun was had by those who went along, and everyone made it back alive, which is the best result for any Jackal excursion!

Ohohoho, I bet you thought it was over, didn't you? Well not quite! See, there was some relevant and important news from within the Jackals that we needed to share.

S' our great pleasure to announce that our very own Kheja'a has stepped up to shoulder the weight of leadership, becoming another agent of the Jackals! May yourself, Locke and Cass bring us many events in the future, and may your reign be long!

And... I think that's it. I'm fairly sure that's it. If there's more, then I'll just have to do a second post, because Twelve help me if there's not enough in this update already.

Seriously. All this, in a month. I just don't know where we find the time.

What's to come? Well, there's a Valentione's bar, which you can see more about here: http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=10052&pid=241599#pid241599

And then there's the big one. The 24th bar. One. Whole. Year, of the Sunny Seaside Bar. We're planning something special for this one :3 Lots of prep needs to be done, events planned, and costumes picked, but oh yes, yes indeed, it's going to be a fun one we hope.

What's the theme? Well, it depends on whether you're in the US, or outside, as to which video is relevant.

In the US? You'll want to watch

UK? (Good on you!) You'll probably be more at home with

From elsewhere? There's every chance you've got your own version of the above, and if not? I'm fairly sure you get the idea, at the very least. It should be good.

Hope to see you all about soon, folks.

Signing out,

Ol' Papa Kilid

"Ye lookin’ fer work? Or mebbe a lil adventure, aye? We got plenty’a both an’...” The blonde miqo’te looks down at the parchment held between her hands. “Kilid. Ah ain’t sayin’ that,” she huffs.

“Oh fer ‘zeyma’s sake... Right! We got plenty’a both an’ do all sorts’a stuff. Ye could even call us...” She lets out a long, thin sigh through her nose. “Jackals’a all trades.”

A scathing look is sent in the direction of the male before she shakes her head. "So if’n yer in’rested, ‘ead on over t’Mist, near Limsa, an’ look fer Sunny Seas Salvage. That’s our front--ah mean, shop. Aye, that.”

Testing, testing! Glorious catte overlord #3 brand new officer Kheja'a speaking!

Much like the month before, we've been very busy indeed! Fiery love and Gladiator-style games at the ever-Sunny Seaside Bar, a long-running personal plot involving assassins and Ishgardians coming to an icy end (all's well that ends well, right...?), and some in-house on-the-beach sparring to show who's the real leader of the pack. More concerningly, Zelenha and Thya haven't been seen recently. Wherever have they gone?

571x321http://files.enjin.com.s3.amazonaws.com/925363/module_gallery/original/2531632.jpg[/img]

Can we do our negations someplace warmer next time?

On a brighter, more social note, we raided the Kindred's house (read: their bar), embarked on another pub crawl, and performed besides bards from across the realm. This lucky man even married the girl of his dreams! And when all that was done, there was always the Missing Member to kick back, relax and grab a pint of ale.

585x329http://puu.sh/nyipi/e2ca597608.png[/img]

And all because he caught a bouqet.

Lastly, patch 3.2 is here! We've all been very active, whether that be with crafting, PvE, or all sorts of wonderful new content. The might of the Illuminati (the goblin kind, mind you) proved no match for a coordinated strike force of Jackals and Kindred! Some of our more ambitious members have even challenged Sephirot, but thus far, the Fiend stands unvanquished. Still, it is but a matter of time. The good guys always win! Are we good guys now?

585x329http://files.enjin.com.s3.amazonaws.com/925363/module_gallery/original/2547076.jpg[/img]

Because as every adventurer knows, cool guys don't look at explosions.

(left to right: Maddoc, Inarah, Stone, Torhe (Kilid), Celeste (from HoD!), Ludivine, Mauh'a (from Kindred!) and yours truly.)

And with that, I'm signing off! On a closing note, it is also my pleasure to announce that a brand new FC plot arc will soon be starting! Please look forward to itTM.

The past month has been full of adventure, intrigue and revelry alike. On the more lighthearted side of life, we've seen another Sunny Seaside Bar, bringing performances by myriad bards to our lovely patrons. We also proved that Jackals can indeed wash up, dress nice and even behave in a civilised manner at the Wine and Dine Festival.

2569874.jpg

Amidst copious drinks at our weekly meetings at the Missing Member and odd jobs here and there, we set another company plotline into play. Tasked with delivering a package to Coerthas, it soon became apparent it was a trap. We escaped with our lives and hunted down the client who hired us. The trail led to a tiny village deep in the Shroud, where darkness lurked behind smiling faces. The mystery continues...

2584271.jpg

Still enjoying the rest of the game's content, we've also been busy crafting, gathering, grinding for relics and much more. Some of us challenged King Thordan to the Extreme and walked away victorious!

2573363.jpg

(Left to right: Ludivine, Inarah, Oyuu, Thya, Torhe, Kheja, Silvaire and Locke)

In the meantime, we had an influx of new additions to our band of misfits and welcomed aboard: Rhalkr Thraikund, J'takra Tia, Oyuu Dataq, Kovu Simochi, Misuzu Misu, Syngiberk Doenimohl, Surennai and Kokei Himaa, Mauh'a Relanah, W'gahr Lupercal, Alia Naveleal, Illyriel Otonashi, Eowale Dotharl, Reinhardt Ironhand, R'khei Tia, Nailah Quill, L'dhala Nunh, June Barlokov and Viggo Stormstar!

If you're thinking, "Bloody hells, that's a shiteload of folks," you'd be damn right. That's why, in order to maintain harmony and ensure the new recruits mesh well with the rest of the pack, we're closing recruitment for the foreseeable future. Don't you worry, though; we'll make an announcement when we open our doors again.

That's all from the Jackals for now. Azeyma smile on you!

The past month has been another shining example of the company's approach to work. Either we find adventure, or it finds us! The result is the same; plenty of work to keep our many new employees busy. And busy they have been, be it with jobs of their own or those arranged by the agents.

631x355http://puu.sh/oSBbF/ecffc6b25e.png[/img]

One such assignment had us escorting an archeologist through a system of caves, past subterranean lakes and perilous traps in search of valuable artifacts. Though we were met with fierce resistance from a group of cultists that had thought to claim the priceless relics for their own twisted ends, we emerged victorious and (mostly) unscathed.

644x371http://puu.sh/oSBd8/164f9ac17d.png[/img]

Another job, however, did not go quite as planned. When a client mistakenly suspected us of stealing the very item we had been hired to retrieve, adventure very much found us, in its less desireable form. Armed attackers struck at the heart of our organization in the night, causing significant damage to the house and injuring numerours Jackals. Two unfortunate souls were taken and held for ransom, but have since been safely returned after the threat was dealt with.

On a closing note, we are deeply saddened to learn of the most untimely death of Locke Rinannis, a valued former agent of the company and trusted friend to many. His inspiring cheerfulness and engineering expertise will be missed.

That's all for this month; see you in 3.3!

The Jackals have been saving up for many months, with generous donations from our members and farming nights to scrape together gil, and we're excited to announce that we swapped our small house in the Mist for a large in one of the new wards introduced by patch 3.3. Sunny Seas Salvage is now located at Ward 12, Plot 35 of Mist! With all that space, we managed to move many of our public areas that were contained in private rooms into the main house. The lounge, sparring room, spa, war room and infirmary can all be accessed from the house interior.

nbXOmN8.jpg

We have a story arc currently in progress to explain the move. It started with infiltrating a fancy party, which led us to taking down pirates last night and stealing their ships. This Saturday will draw it to a conclusion and then the Jackals can start RPing in our lovely new home.

1apiw9y.jpglm8OqqQ.jpg

Meanwhile, we're enjoying all the other goodies 3.3 brought us, from dungeons and trials to crafting and, yes, even moogles. We're preparing RP plots for further down the road and, of course, will be running the Sunny Seaside Bar again this Saturday evening. Lastly, whilst our doors remain closed to new members, we'll be taking a look at recruitment in a few weeks, once we've settled with the move and new content. Watch this space!

Just a quick one to let you all know we've opened recruitment and will be accepting a small number of applicants. If you're interested, check out our application form or contact a leader (J'kilid Tia, J'inarah Marad, Kheja'a Akhabila, Maral Ura and Silvaire Vairemont) for more information.

Edit: That was quick! As of 3 July, recruitment is now closed again.

The last month has been one of the calmer ones, with our various members taking a much neded break, but! If you thought we would sit idle, you are wrong! Even this month, too, we had work to do. This time , it was a bunch of shady Lalafell that hired us to scout out newly discovered ruins of an old, mhachian outpost...

630x465http://i.imgur.com/aMMPhGo.png?1[/img]

Diving into the shady tunnels, seeking treasures and lost lalafellin explorers alike, it didn't take long for our adventurers to find something. Or rather, the old and intact defense mechanisms of ancient Mhach found them. Closing the doors behind their backs and activating cruel traps, there was only one way: Forward! Fighting their way through malevolent homunculi and mindboggling illusions, they almost fell prey to the final guard, but they still prevailed. Bloody and beaten, but alive. Claiming ancient tomes and magical artifacts, they returned home safely... unlike the unlucky lalafell explorers...

After the recent move to a bigger mansion the Jackals also opened up recruitment for a small number of new members, and to much surprise there was great demand! We had to close up again relatively quickly, but nevertheless we welcome Renaise Galwind, Arai Yoruichi, Fiave Teras and Nhia Nahri to the company!

The last few Moons have seen a great deal of change for themembers of Jackal & Hide, first a change in home and now a change in leadership. Having decided to take a backseat in managing the salvaging and other “miscellaneous” jobs, in order to raise their daughter, J’Kilid Tia and J’Inarah Marad have called for two more officers:  Torhe Raanu and Rosamund Hale. A warm welcomeis to be given to the new officers and the two are wished the best of luck! (Currently a book is being run on how long it will take for the new Officers to be driven up the wall. Odds are currently at 2:1)

300x200http://i.imgur.com/88Sv3fO.jpg[/img]

Meanwhile there were adventures on the high seas to be had, with the Jackals being tasked with raiding a group of pirates in order to liberate a group of slaves and plunder whatever valuables they had on their ship. Though through an act of cephalopodan aggression they had to choose what was more valuable, gold or their fellow Children of Man. Ultimately they chose the noble option of rescuing as many of the slaves as they could before the pirate ship was torn asunder and dragged down into the seas cold embrace. After they had been given a Half-Moon to recover they were sent on another rescue mission in which they found themselves drawing steel against a pack of Primal worshiping Sahagin. To make matters worse, one of their number had been kidnapped by the foul beast tribe and they found themselves racing against time in order to save their comrade, least they join the ranks of the Drowned.

300x200http://i.imgur.com/ostxDki.jpg[/img]

Though that was not all, for the Jackals were also inpursuit of a mysterious individual, the possible orchestrator of a previous job, tracking them from the deserts of Thanalan to the forests of the Black Shroud. They were able to subdue the Mad Miqo’te, only to find that she in turn was a pawn in someone else’s greater scheme and was taken prisoner, much to the chagrin of some of the Jackals, in order to learn more about this unknown puppeteer.
