Berrod Armstrong Posted February 2, 2015 Share #28 Posted February 2, 2015 While I openly and frequently refer to Berrod as a monk, there were times when I'd call him a brawler. It seemed to fit quite well at the time. Link to comment
Desu Nee Posted February 2, 2015 Share #29 Posted February 2, 2015 I call BLM Wizards and WHM Priests. I've played Ragnarok Online for years, it's really hard to unconnect with what I was used to before coming for FF14. Link to comment
Steel Wolf Posted February 2, 2015 Share #30 Posted February 2, 2015 Steel is an Axe Fuckist. ...actually, she's a sellsword who doesn't use a sword. So more often than not I've come to refer to her as a "free blade". Which causes no end of confusion for people when she approaches for recompense for a job done. In my head-canon anyway. Because I have no RL clients. :< Link to comment

Telluride Posted February 2, 2015 Share #32 Posted February 2, 2015 Nathan is a bard through-and-through, and refers to himself as such, but his use of it is in the more traditional pseudo-historical and fictional European sense, as a musician and entertainer, than what FFXIV defines them as. His abilities with bow and brawling, and with comfort but lesser proficiency in spear and axe, are the result of learning the use of the weapons from the troupe that was his family, which relied on its own members for defense and hunting. In many ways, he really doesn't even think of himself as a combatant as much as a survivalist; Eorzea is a dangerous place outside city walls, and he'd have little chance of getting by as a traveling performer if he couldn't defend himself properly between destinations. However, it is possible that I might make him more martial at the time of the expansion. Should open war break out again, it's not inconceivable that he could become more of a Skald, wading into combat alongside allies while chanting deep, lusty combat ballads to inspire them - i.e. more like the D&D and FFXIV versions of a "Bard". But things haven't gotten that militaristic... yet. Link to comment
Berrod Armstrong Posted February 2, 2015 Share #33 Posted February 2, 2015 Oh! I have a character who I refer to as a 'retainer'. Granted, he IS a conjurer, but that never really comes into play so much as his gopher man-friday services. RETAINER BEST SUPPORT CLASS. BAG SPACE BUFFS FOR ALL. Link to comment

K'nahli Posted February 2, 2015 Share #35 Posted February 2, 2015 If it came down to it, I have no idea what Andre(Paladin) would refer to himself as. Instead of using a term he might simply say he favours a sword and shield I guess. Lulani(Paladin) might say he is training hard to become a knight suitable of forever serving as Nonopi's bodyguard(silly, lalafel RP). K'nahli(Bard) has it easy, she'd just call herself an archer if she really needed to use the term. Alex(Warrior) would probably be similar to Andre and just refer to the weapon he uses rather than a term, but I imagine he might use the term "warrior" itself either, but not in the sense of it being a job; just the literal sense. Dante Abigor Posted February 2, 2015 Share #39 Posted February 2, 2015 When inquired as to his job, he usually blows off the question with a response along the lines of being the cutest. When asked about his skills in battle, Eligor will typically say he is good at running away, even going so far as to actually do it when combat presents itself to help keep up the illusion. Chillsmack Posted February 2, 2015 Share #40 Posted February 2, 2015 I don't RP Doendraga as any in game class; he isn't a member of any guild nor is he carrying around a soul stone with the ancient wisdom of barbarian warriors trapped inside (I felt like the job lore was so "chosen one" feeling that having it as a common thing where people are just walking around with magic henshin stones kills the setting for me lol) He just knows how to f%#$ people up lol His actual profession is captain and smuggler (though the latter is on the DL) Link to comment
Ruran Posted February 3, 2015 Share #41 Posted February 3, 2015 Locke has referred to himself as a "scout," "mechanic," and more recently an "engineer." He's not a Rogue (and definitely not a Ninja), not even a thief or outlaw of any kind, he's just proficient with daggers and has had many experiences moving unnoticed through terrain. Orrian simply refers to himself as a "mage." Nice and vague, suits him just fine. Link to comment
Briggs Posted February 3, 2015 Share #42 Posted February 3, 2015 I've typically envisioned my ninja as a Twin Blade that's inclined to kick and punch when need be. Link to comment
